  Acrobat IX is no longer available for download. Acrobat 9 Pro license is platform specific, so it does not work on your Mac in any case.

  You buy Acrobat DC for your Mac.

  Make sure that you have reduced the use of different fonts. Sometimes people forget to check the graphic header.

  From Acrobat, you can try save as > reduce the size of the file (save under a new name for safety). You can also try save as > PDF optimize for increased control. Don't make the mistake of spreading of the fonts. Usually they should all be integrated or people maybe isn't able to read the file, but should help to minimize the use of different fonts. Online files is not the place for happy fonts. Are all vector fonts fonts, or a bitmap (Type 3). If so, change it to vector fonts and recreate the PDF file.

  There may be other things, but it would be useful to see a version of the PDF to help more.
