Impossible to install Sp3 on XP Pro; The file is corrupted

I tried to upgrade to SP3. I have a dual boot Win7 on drive C and Windows XP on drive D. Readers are separated. I have a disc I got from Microsoft with top SP2 so I know its true.

I've upgraded to SP3 on my old system. However I could not update with my new system. My old system had an Athlon 3000 top. My new system includes a 550 Phenom. New card mother too and new dvdr.

I completed all the steps in the link below and not joy. What should I do?

Try to start in a "Clean boot" mode and then install SP3.

  • When I try to install SP1a, I get a message saying that the file is corrupted.

    Need help, Im confused

OK, so I have windows XP I am trying to install on my acer aspire 5100. Its an old copy that came with another computer. All I'm trying to do is to clean the computer clean and start over. Installation was successful, but when I try to install SP1a I get a message saying that the file is corrupted. I can't connect to the internet of him because the surrent version doesn't support WPA2. So im downloading on an external HD and try to run it from my computer. When you try to install SP2, it says that the file is not a valid Win32 application. Any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Again, your best option is to order a set of Acer recovery disks.

If you insist on doing things the way hard, then check first that download, you have to SP2 (you don't need SP1a because it is part of the SP2) is correct - check the hash of the file downloaded against one published (where you downloaded of?)

If the hash is correct and then try running SFC/scannow from a command prompt - it may work, depending on how the software manufacturer set up the drive, but it is preferable to use in conjunction with a good OS disc, rather than the recovery disk.

    Original title: backup Windows 7

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I would say first of all allows you to check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is running.

    1. click on Start, type Services in start search. When the page is open, find shadow copy Volume service.

    2. right clickon the Volume Shadow Copy service (VSS) and check whether it is started.

    3. If it is stopped, select Start or restart.

Check if you are able to backup.

Step 2: If you have installed a third-party security software, then try to temporarily disable the security software and check what is happening.

Step 3: You can also try to remove the task from the location:

    C:\Windows\System32\Tasks

How to find which task is damaged or altered.

    3. click on Start; Search type cmd in the list on the start menu, programs, right click on cmd and run as administrator.
    4. now run the following command

    schtasks/query | findstr /i

    Search:

ERROR: the task image is damaged or has been tampered with.
ERROR: task cannot be loaded: the task name

Find the name of the task, try deleting the task name, and then try to recreate.

See the link below that solves your problem.

    1. click on Start, type Task Scheduler in the start search box, and then click Task Scheduler in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. in the Actions of the Task Scheduler dialog box, click on create a new task.

Check whether the problem is resolved.

    Hello

I have seen that some issues have been resolved by updating the firmware of the modem or the router. Maybe this isn't a problem with the operating system but with devices connected to the computer.

Visit the website of the manufacturer for the router and see if they have an updated firmware update. For some reason, it seems to cause more problems with Windows 7 and Vista with Windows XP.

Please answer back with an update and let us know if that helps.

  • Mocha Ae error: "the file is corrupt or in an unsupported format."

So I try to use 'Track in Mocha Ae' inside After Effects. The problem is that whenever I try to import video files into Mocha Ae, it does not read my video files and always displays this error message:

"The file is corrupt or in an unsupported format".

I looked for a solution by myself, and I downloaded QuickTimes as some experts explained in the other panels of the question.

However, even if I open the video with QuickTimes, this error still showed upward.

Shows the file type '. '. "MTS", just for you give more details on this video file.

I was wondering what can cause this error. Someone HELP me please!

Mocha does not natively support MPEG files. You must convert the file. This has nothing to do with Quicktime at all. I recommend you read as moka files help on what formats it supports indeed.

Print > save as PDF - use an excerpt (part of Mac OS X), so Adobe Reader should have no effect on that at all.

As for the error "file corrupted", simply uninstall the Reader app will not affect it. Follow these steps:

    Mac/HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins

Trash the files AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

    Mac HD/Applications

    Trash the application Adobe Reader

    [user] / Library/Preferences

    Trash the com.adobe.Reader.plist file

To access the [user] / Library, hold down the 'Option' and click on 'Go' in the FInder menu.

    Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe

    Trash the drive (full record)

    Empty the trash.

Download the installer FULL here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Quit your browser, and then reinstall the drive.

Run it from the Applications folder and agree to the license agreement.

You should have no problem with Safari PDF files download.

Unfortunately, ANY PDF file that says it is damaged.... You will need their trash.

  • Impossible to install XP SP3 (could not find the file specified)

I looked at and followed the steps described in

Article ID: 950717 - steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3

    I do not have

    • Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit
    • Pack MUI Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) 6.0 (update 925877 for Windows XP)

I tried to install SP3 with and without my Antivirus, Antispyware and firewall running programs (several times – 4, 5, or more).  Each time, I get an error staing "could not find the specified file."  Then after being told that SP3 can not be installed and that "Windows XP has been partially updated and may not work properly", I have to restart my system.

I also followed all the steps in this article (Article ID: 950718 - how to troubleshoot an installation fails in Windows XP Service Pack 3) and still the same thing as above.

I tried to download SP3 directly from the Download Center - same results as before.

I started the BITS service and tried again - same results as above.

I've disabled auto updates and removed to software distribution (download renamed folder as shown) - same results as shown above.

I tried to restore my system to an earlier date - 4 these attempts using different dates and set points during the last wee - ALL have failed.

I also tried the proposals 1 to 3 in this article (Article ID: 950249-how to remove Windows XP Service Pack 3 from your computer), and none of these steps worked.

I spent over 8 hours today and yesterday a couple just trying to solve this problem and still don't get anywhere.  I am beyond frustrated at this point.  I know that say Windows can not work properly, and I need my computer to do my job.  Any help would be appreciated.

You could do a repair installation with a CD of Windows XP with SP3 integrated already.  However, unless this is a new installation that you have installed SP2 on so you could get then SP3 installed on it - you have obviously been broadcast for some time without a lot of fixed security and tastes and your system could very well be stripped because of this.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.
