I don't have the XP disc.

I am running XP and the operating system has been installed by the factory on a refurbished laptop. I'm not a rich man, and I was wondering if I could buy a newer OS at a decent price. Any help is greatly appreciated...

Number of points:

1. Yes, you can buy a new operating system.

2. the question of whether what you can buy at a decent price depends on
What do you consider a decent price. You can look around
Amazon.com and get an idea of what prices are similar.

3. If your computer is XP - era, you'll find maybe a newer version
version of Windows won't acceptably quick on his material.

4. If your computer is XP - era (especially a laptop), you
probably find that you need the drivers for a newer version of Windows,
and drivers do not available.

Sorry to tell you that even if you're not a rich man, if you
want a more recent version of Windows, you'll probably need to buy a new
computer. And if you decide to do, if I were you, I would wait
until Windows 10 is released, probably towards the end of this year, as
as much as I fear, with 10 Windows soon, it is evil
time to move to Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1.
