• When I print, the printer sounds like its printing but nothing comes out on the page. What should do?

  I just installed an hp F4480 printer, my roommate gave me.  My OS is Windows XP.  When I try and print or copy something the printer looks like it's printing and the paper passes by like it is printing but nothing comes out on the page.  Perhaps is out of ink, I guess, but I don't know how to say and I don't want to spend $50 to get a new non-refundable ink cartridge to see.  I did a print test page and the only thing that came out was a light that said the Page of Test printer Windows XP Blue cap but nothing else was on the page.

  It's really a problem of HP, not a Windows problem, and you should look for the HP Support help site.

  Indeed the software on the CD supplied with your printer, or also the software available on the HP download pages are not compatible with Mac OS 10.7 Lion. However, you can install the HP Printer Driver Update 2.8, which contains the drivers printing and scanning (via print & scan, preview or Capture of Image).

  You may already have? If not and you use a different print driver, I suggest that you simply remove the current printer queue. Make sure that your device is connected directly to the USB port on your Mac. Then add the printer and you should get a message that there is software available to install - accept, so installing the respective drivers.
