I tried three times successively to download the Player 10 upgrade my system pushes me to and continue to get a "bootstrapper" error message interrupt the installation.
I tried already the linked page suggested to another author of the question with the same problem and get a message that I have not found in the download process, about the system requirements.
The download site in fact allows to select your Windows XP SP2 operating system, but on the page linked toubleshooting, system requirements do not support anything earlier than a Windows 2010 server.
Is no upgrade to Adobe Reader available for Windows XP SP2 version 2002?

The Windows operating system older Adobe Reader can still be downloaded is Windows XP SP3 or Windows XP SP2 (64-bit).

The latest versions of reader for these are 10.1.10 or 11.0.08.

You can try to install one of these versions of Reader for Windows XP SP2 (32 bit), but there is no guarantee that it will work.  Use Setup http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ offline
