I get a pop up asking that I want to install Windows 8. I have Windows Vista and have no idea of what is Windows 8. Do I have to install it or not?
I have Windows Vista, but I get a pop up asking me to install Windows 8. I'm not a computer Wizard, LOL. I use my computer for basic, surf, talk to friends and to the these. Do I have to install it or not?
Hello
There is no such thing as Windows 8. Maybe it's spyware so leave well alone. First of all I suggest you do a complete virus check of your system. I assume that your system has antivirus software to protect your system?
Download the free version of Malwarebytes Anti Malware (www.malwarebytes.org ) install this application and do a full scan to see if it picks up nothing. I no longer get the pop-up asking if I want firefox to remember mypassword
In the past, I used to get a pop up when filling out the info that was asked if I wanted Mozillla to remember the News newspaper. Recently, I realized I no longer see this feature and I find I have to repeatedly type in the usernames and passwords I used to fill for me.
How to re-enable this function?
I went to options and think I have all the settings to remember paswords, etc..Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the Add-ons is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Modules > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

It seems to be a junk in the toolbar change, since I received the update to Firefox version. I now get the mention above and always a notice asking if I want the site to remember my password. None of this information is timely and necessary for my use. I tried to follow the directions to change the preferences, but nothing that appears on these directions has solved the problems.
Thank you. I managed to fix it using the favorite icon. I am very new to this PC company and were asked by the system I update to the latest version of Firefox. Now, everything is different and I lost a lot of the toolbar information and strange message came. Your help is greatly appreciated.

When you use Windows Mail, I get a pop up asking to verify my sign in information.
I'm having a problem with windows mail. I get a pop up asking me to verify my login and password. After doing there just appears again and again once the questions. I checked that the logon and password I entered are correct by logging into this account outside the windows Messaging. I even went to the account and returned to the logon and password. Still no luck. I receive e-mails on that account, but cannot send. Any suggestions? Thank you

Windows Mail: Get a pop-up asking for my username and password
Original title: "windows mail problem"
From yesterday I can't open Windows Mail. I get a pop up asking for my username and password. I was sure that I had good, but since then I have rebuilt the account and still get the same pop up. This is what happens in the error message:
Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, server response: '-ERR [AUTH] username/password invalid ', Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800CCC92
I downloaded Windows Live Mail and that no longer works. I tried to configure Outlook and got the same result. I have another identity on this computer and it works fine. I read that Norton and MacAfee can have that effect, but I don't have one or the other. I just downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials this week and email worked fine up until yesterday. I contacted ATT, but they do not support Windows Mail. I need more ideas here.

Check with AT & T, or the Yahoo Server. They have made of your user name and password. Compare them with those that you entered when you first set up the account.

I get a pop up saying that there are errors in the registry.
Original title: is it a scam?
A pop-up asking if I want 29 errors in the fixed registry using their PC Repair Kit.
If it's a Web page popup then ignore them. Do not click on them - not even to close the pop-up window. Instead, close the browser window or use the Task Manager to end the task of web browser if it refuses to close.
If the pop-up window is particularly suspect, delete you the temporary files from browsers and run a complete scan with a scanner reputable and up-to-date anti-malware are a good idea.

I was on safari when an ad appeared and it redirected me to my settings asking if I wanted to install something. Obviously, it was a virus, so I said no, but it does mean that the virus is still on my phone? And if so, how do I get it out of my phone? Thank you!
This kind of message is a scam. Never respond to such messages.

Original title: Windows Media Center
Whenever I try to add videos (or whatever it is) on my media center it will not add and I get this pop up message "a necessary component of the Windows Media Center has not started properly. Restart Windows Media Center.
And I restart it, but it still gives me the same thing whenever I'll add things. I also have the Extender for my xbox 360 and video flies never show there either. A few moments ago, I got this working with my xbox and everyhting showed, now it gives me fits. Can someone please help
Try this for me:
Task Scheduler (Local)-> library of Task Scheduler-> Microsoft-> Windows-> Media Center-> MediaCenterRecoveryTask
If this does not work, try this:
1. open regedit by clicking on the start menu and type "regedit" in the search box and clicking on the link of the regedit program that opens.
2. go in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
3. click on the file --> export and save a copy of this portion of the registry where you can find later if you need IT.
4 Note the values in the column of data to "ProgramFilesDir" and "ProgramFilesDir (x 86(). (If you have only one of those that, don't worry. I think that only users of Windows 64-bit will have both, but I don't know.)
5. If you have a standard installation of Windows, the right for "ProgramFilesDir" column should read "C:\Program Files" and the right column for "ProgramFilesDir (x 86) ' should read"C:\Program Files (x 86)"." If they are not, try changing them to these values. To do this right click on the name in the left column and selecting Edit. Copy the 'correct' value of this message in the data value field in the box that opens. Click OK , and then do the same for the other (if you have two).
6. RESTART. It will not work until you restart your computer.
7. Open Windows Media Center and see if the problem is resolved.

Why I have to uncheck a check box asking if I want to install a product from Google for updates? Seems lame.

And... It takes about 1/1000th time uncheck, as he did here, create an account, sign in, locate the appropriate court and create a new topic to write on that. Also lame, if you ask me.

I just started having this extra window that says: "RECOMMENDED updates! It is recommended to install the software to make sure that your browser is the latest version. Please update to continue. "The link says: Rvzr - a.akamaihd.NET. I'm a little reluctant to touch anything because it never happened. In addition, I've doubled checked and my firefox is 28.0 isn't up-to-date. I even re-downloaded firefox to ensure, and I always get the pop-up window.
You're smart to be wary. You can check to see if an unnoticed add-on slipped? In particular, I suggest disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:
- Command + shift + a
- Tools menu > Modules
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off.
Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.
That get rid of the nagging dialog boxes?
