I have a HP Media Center M8400F

The computer works fine.  I just want to add memory.  I'm totally confused by the variety of available memory.  The computer is exactly as it came from the factory.  Product # is K1377AA-ABA.  The serial number is {removed privacy}

Use / what type of memory the computer require?

Thank you

Hello:

Here is the link to the motherboard for your PC card:

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01357175

Your PC can handle 4 x 2 GB of PC2-6400 memory for a total of 8 GB when you run a 64-bit operating system.

Your system comes with a 32-bit operating system, which means that the maximum useful memory is 4 GB.

If you ever plan change to a 64-bit operating system, you only need to add a 1 GB chip because your PC came with 3 GB of memory.

  • Pavilion Media Center M8400f Bios Update for Windows 7

HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f. The Vista operating system has been replaced by Windows 7 (64 bit) a number of years.

I've updated one of my hard drives with a SanDisk SSD (it is now my main drive with the operating system and all my files on board).

The bios on the PC has never been updated.

The SanDisk SSD dashboard software will not recognize the SanDisk SSD as the system has designated the SSD as a SCSI device. I need to access the bios for this change to AHCI. The current bios does not support this.

The PC has a card mother MCP61PM-HM. There is no update for Windows 7 BIOS for that motherboard I know (updates Vista only).

SanDisk gave me a link to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-82094-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&... that shows a card mother M2P61PM-HM for m8400f desktop PC. This Bios download supports Windows 7 (64 bit).

Can update the Bios to download safely a card mother M2P61PM-HM for card mother MCP61PM-HM I currently have?

    Hello

The HP BIOS update link provided SanDisk is an update of the BIOS of your PC. It is listed under Win Vista 64 bit driver downloads here.

If you look at the site to download the drivers for your PC you'll only see driver support for Win Vista but on 2010-04-08, Version 5.29, 1.47 M BIOS updatedshows support for Win 7.

But the problem is this: the BIOS updates must be performed using the PC operating system comes with; in your case, Win Vista. Extreme care must be exercised when updating the BIOS under normal circumstances. I would not classify your situation as usual.

I saw others download an update of the BIOS for their PC and try to install an operating system upgraded with disastrous effects. The PC was bricked.

Be prepared for the worst case if you try to install the update to the BIOS.

  • media center m8400f pc helps recovery

I have a media center PC and I tried to add a dual boot on my vista system, when I installed XP and restarted, he asked me what operating system to start and I tried the Vista one and the screen would just empty, XP always works and thanks to the hard work has been able to find any drivers...

Now I want to reinstall Vista, but I have no recovery cd, when I start my system and try pressing F10 or F11, it does not launch the Recovery Manager, I can clearly see the original picture and not made by the install it of course everything messed up my settings startup, then go into my xp installed, I changed the settings in the boot.ini file thinking maybe xp changed my drive letters around and when I tried to Start vista this time, he said that he could not start because the hal.ini is not found or corrupted... I tried to create the recovery discs now because I can quite see all the files in the player, but they will not start in xp. I have already backed up all my files, now I guess my question is there a way I can restore from this factory image using some files? (by pressing F10 or F11 does not work) or can I create XP Recovery discs by burning a certain file?

    Info Tech,

Have a quad core hp media center m8400f also pc was windows vista Home premium and xp pro sp2, my hard where the configuration is disc 1 is divided in part two partitions one where the original vista part b, is where is the factory recovery image, disc 2 part one is where I saved my documents and part b that is the installation of xp

Used, here is a link that should help you:

Page 4, "restore Vista Bootloader and enable the Dual-boot, should give you the information you need to solve your problem."

Dual-boot is a great way to run the two OS' are on the same computer.  However, I suggest to use two hard drives, rather than two partitions on the same drive.  I did it both ways over the years (8 to be exact) and it's my favorite way.  Currently, I am running XP Pro on disk 0 and Ubuntu, Linux on disk 1.  It works very well.

I have Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and I tried to run Media Center but I get an error message with ehshell.exe. Could you help me?

This problem exists since the 1st Media Center. SP2 and SP3 had a difficulty, but it is obvious that it doesn't always. The same problem still exists in Vista today with a lot of other carried over from XP. System restore would work, but you do not have any good restore points so reinstall an operating system seems to be your only option.

You probably don't want to do an OS reinstall you need for Media Center, but since it does not at all, you might want to play then remove the Media Center updates and or SP3 and reinstall them.

  • My hard drive has failed. I have Microsoft XP media center edition 2005. How can I get a recovery disk?

I had a hard disk crash.  I don't care about data loss, but I bought a new hard drive and you want to install Windows XP media center edition 2005.  I have a sticker on the side of my pc with the product code.  How can I get a recovery disk?  Download the program from another PC?

As your original failed hard drive, you would of course not be able to access any partition contained on this hard drive recovery.  Therefore, your best option is to contact the manufacturer of the computer and see if you can get the installation of their own media.

  • I have windows 7 and have lost my media center where I can load the replacement software is there a place to download the windows 7 media center.

WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD A COPY OF WINDOWS 7 MEDIA CENTER FOR MY OPERATING SYSTEM WINDOWS 7?

You can't download unless you run Windows 7N.  Media Center is an essential component of all other editions of Windows 7.  But you can unload and then reload.

Unload 1 Media Center - Panel, programs and features, [left] turn turn Windows features on or off, characteristic of the media, Media Center clear box, Yes, OK, restart the PC.

2 reload Media Center - Control Panel, programs and features, [left] turn Windows features on or off, multimedia functions, the Media Center of the value checkbox, Yes, OK, restart the PC.

At the end of this, you will actually have a new installation of Media Center.

You must manually install this driver.

Click on the? device. Click on update driver driver. Select manual search (specific location), and then navigate to the folder.

    The driver should install.
