printers HP c4280 stuck to insert ink cartridges

When has the color and black ink become a requirement? I bought this printer 5 years ago and since the color cartridge ran out just after the purchase, I replaced never but he has always worked in black ink only. My printer has stopped working about 6 months ago. I thought that the problem was the cartridge that I got in here, but tonight I replaced it with a new HP one, and after a reboot due to errors, now it says "Insert print cartridges" and will not pass in front of this screen. I don't have another $25 for a color cartridge, I never use. Is there a substitution?

Hi jackytheripper,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I understand you want to know how to replace the printer to put in a new color cartridge because he previously worked without replacing.

I'll be happy to help you.

I couldn't find anywhere in the documentation for the printer would print with just the cartridges one installed.

Since you were previously, then try the following steps:

Turn the printer off.

Remove both cartridges.

Turn on the printer.

Install just the black cartridge and see what happens.

Here is the guide for the use of your printer. All-in-one HP Photosmart C4200 series.

Here is a document to clean the contacts on the cartridges to see if this will solve the problem.

"Incompatible cartridge" or "print cartridge is missing, improperly installed, or not intended for your device" Message is displayed on the computer. Do not take into account the title.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.
Have a great weekend!

I'm stuck in the new phase of printer configuration. After running through the commissioning of questions and I opened the cover to charge the ink cartridges and the print head did not move. I ran across several reset process... Unplug the printer. Wait 60 seconds and plug it in again. Browse the configuration... Unplug the printer... more.

This printer does not seem to be any cartriages.

    Hey JohnTT,

Sometimes, these printers come with packaging that holds the printhead completely to the right at the gas station.  This avoids damage to the product during shipping.  You see all plastic parts orange that it may contain in place or Blue Ribbon?

So, have you tried the carriage to the right hand?  Can it be moved or is it blocked?

If the printer still will not release the print carriage after the power cycles and move it by hand, then I suggest you return the product and return to the retailer of purchase or by calling the HP Technical Support to see about a replacement.  The phone number for the USA / Canada residents is 1-800-474-6836.  If you are not in this region, click here.

  • Ink cartridge stuck?

I have a HP F2180 Deskjet All In One Printer.

I have replacement ink cartridges. (both compatible, I checked)

However, I placed the black cartridge on the left compartment that should have been the color ink cartridge compartment.

In addition, it is now stuck; probably because that I inserted while the printer is turned off.

Is it possible to get the cartridge out, I can't go out?

    Hello

Sorry to hear the problem with your all-in-one printer, HP Deskjet F2180.

The only way to get the cartridge in the color slot is to raise the cartridge from the top, be careful not to damage the tongue made of plastic or other parts of the unit.

In the attached picture you can see where the ink cartridge is striking and caught in the trap, you can insert the tip of a flat screwdriver and push the cartridge down while pulling with your fingers. Do not insert the screwdriver all the way or you can damage other parts.

    I hope this works!

    Hello

It may be possible to move the cart if you turn the printer off. Unplug the printer and open the cover of the printer.  See if you can move the carriage by hand.  If possible, move the carriage to the Center.  Check that nothing of blocking the abnormal movements of transport - for example the pieces of paper.

Close the cover and then plug the printer back. I hope this will help.

  • LaserJet 1150: Laserjet 1150 problems after you insert the new ink cartridge

Hi, I am the owner of this very good printer for 10 years now.  Used only a single all these years ink cartridge (I use it only for work related missionery) with not a single problem.  When we bought it we also bought a replacement ink cartridge.  However, when I put in place the new ink cartridge, I have a problem of printing documents.  Each document gives me the same results.  I took it to the store of the local computer, which shook the cartrdige vigorously and I also ran the service option in the HP printer Toolbox. The guy at the computer said I need to print a lot of papers and see what is happening... what I did.  But the result in each impression remains exactly the same. The annex in the printed document.  Can we still do this ink cartridge work after having been stored for 10 years?  Thank you for reading my message.

You have a bad toner cartridge.  Given that this printer is very old, there is a lot new in the old box of cartridges of toner there stock.  Over time, the wiper blade will hurt comes from there.  Think that buy you a new toner from a big box store which should have new actions and you will come back if the cartridge is bad.

  • Re: C510 black eStation ink cartridge work do not

Frustrated REEEEEALLY. After screwing around all day trying to get stuff printed I sit tonight with a new black ink cartridge and it's either not all black printing or it is a pale gray. All other cartridges work. Come here, when I click on links to every possible solution nothing opens for me. Before anyone asks, this printer is about 2 or 3 years, but had BARELY BARELY BARELY served. It is connected to an HP computer that is only a few years old with exceptionally light use also. I installed the updates that were available. He printed some photos fine this am, but I'm trying to print documents has put me in such a rage today I had better just go to bed. Warranty is out, so much for spending money on a printer expensive in the hope that it would last. Hope this will be a quick solution. It's really annoying to keep buying new printers all the few years despite them get such use of the lamp

Hi @Furbio and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble for your C510 to print in black, but I will certainly do my best to give a helping hand

Because you mentioned that you have questions, open links of the forums, I'll have everything written here in my post, so I apologize in advance for how long this post can get!

First of all, I would like you to clean the contacts on each cartridge by following the steps below taken from the document a "incompatible cartridge" or "not compatible ink cartridges" Error Message on the computer or the all-in-onefor your printer. "

Follow these steps to clean the electrical contacts of the cartridge.
    1. gather the following items:
    Clean cotton pads
Paper clean and lint to rest the cartridges on (coffee filters work well)
    2. press the power button to turn on the printer.
    3. open the cartridge access door. Lift the corner front right of the printer until it locks on the door in the full open position. Wait until the print carriage to move toward the center of the printer.
    4. press the tab on the front of the cartridge to release it, then pull it up and out to remove it from its housing.
5 hold the cartridge by its sides with the nozzle facing up.
6 locate the electrical contacts on the bottom of the cartridge. The electrical contacts are four small rectangles of copper metal.

7 wipe the electrical contacts with a q-tip clean and dry until no debris remains on them. Make sure that no ink or debris from the smear on the transparent window next to the electrical contacts.
    8. place the cartridge on the clean and lint paper with the nozzle upward.
9 locate the electrical contacts inside the carriage. Electrical contacts are similar to a set of four copper color placed pins to touch the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
    10. clean the electrical contacts inside the car with a clean, dry cotton swab, second.
    * Please do for each cartridge, just to be complete
11 drag each cartridge into the slot that is appropriate until it snaps. Make sure that you insert each cartridge into the slot with the corresponding color icon.
    12. close the cartridge access door.

After completing these steps cleaning cartridge, if the problem still persists, I would like to manually clean the electrical contacts on your print head (the part the cartridges sit in inside of). These measures were taken from the replacement print head for your printer paper (with a few changes to make things more clear ).

Follow these steps to clean the electrical contacts on the print head and inside the printer.
    1. press the power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already selected.
    2. open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the center of the printer. Wait that the carriage is idle and silent before proceeding.
    3. to remove the cartridges, press the tab on the front of the cartridge, and then pull it upwards to remove it from its housing. Do this for each cartridge.
    4. to remove the print head, lift the locking on the carriage to the stop handle.

    5. place the print head on its side on lint cloth or absorbent paper and use a fluffy and filtered/distilled water to clean the electrical contacts inside the printer as shown below.

6 proceed to clean the electrical contacts of the print head as well using the same materials. Just be careful not to touch the contacts with your fingers.

    7. once everything is dry (try not to let the printhead out for more than 10 minutes if possible) please proceed to reinsert the printhead to the printer and gently drop the locking handle to fix it up before you reinsert the cartridges and close the printer.

When the printer is finished it is maintenance, try to print a report to see if the black is printing printer or if something has changed with the next steps in the document printing to a printer status report for your printer.

    1. In the home screen on the product control panel, press Menu () in the upper left corner. A list of menu options screens.

    Hi Sheilaoc,

I understand the printer refuses the cartridges and the transport is stuck on the right side. I want to help you solve this problem, so you can start enjoying your new printer.

I suggest that first you open the door of ink, leave the printer and unplug the power cable. Is the power cord unplugged, you can now move the carriage to the Center and remove the cartridges. Once the cartridges are removed, close the access door and plug the printer back. The printer will now start again and it will prompt you to install the cartridges. If this does not resolve the problem, use the following document for additional solutions. A "cartridge problem," "ink cartridge failure," or "Incompatible cartridge" Error Message is displayed on the control panel.

  • Ink cartridge 564 for C5380 v. small large

I have a C5380 and bought a Photo Balck replacement cartridge. It is a CB317WA and the same (small) size as CMYK cartridges.

Problem I have is that it replaces a CN684W, which is the largest size black Photo cartridge.

The new (CB317WA) says it's for the C5380, but it does not in the Photo Black compartment. The re is a leg of positioning in the "rear" of the cratridges, in the sahpe of a 't'. on the small CMYK cartridges, this 't' is backwards. Pictured big black format, it is not. My black cartridge replacement Photo (CB317WA) is smaller but the hind is reversed and does not in the black slot Photo even if that's what it is designed for. (The packaging clearly States ONLY for 5 printers cartridge and lists as C5380 supported.)

I do not understand what I did wrong...

Hello there editor61, I hope you are well

I read your post on ink, disorders of the cartridge. It seems the sound that you can try to insert the photo black cartridge in the slot of regular black ink, which will not work.

It is true that HP printers can go a bit over edge into the little "protect themselves".  I suspect the printers used to accept refurbished ink cartridges and printers broke.  HP has been blamed for the printers broken; That is why the change.  (I have no evidence of that, it's just a hint: Why put extra in a printer electronics unless it is necessary?) It is certainly true that a cartrdige defective reman that may damage the printer, often because of the ink dripping in the mechanism due to a bad charge.  The printer as a result of defective third cartrdiges is not covered by the HP warranty.

It is not true that HP rejects cartrdiges simply because they are reloaded/refurbished.  In general, there is not an ID "this cartridge is rebuilt" on one of the reloaded cartridges.  The printer has several checks it does for a cartrdige when inserted to ensure that it is appropriate for the printer.  These controls may include a combination of the following:

    • Read the electric cartridge ID to ensure that it is the type in the appropriate slot and correct cartrdige.
    • Check the electrical connectivity of the control signals for not too many are open or shorted.
    • Check the electrical parameters of temperature control circuit.
    • Check the expiry date of the ink.  This is done only a very few models, usually those who use the cartrdiges 02 series where ancient ink can cause damage to the permanent print head.

The tests are not to prevent reman cartrdiges, same tests are run on the HP cartridges and cartridges that do not will be rejected by the original HP printer or remans.
