  I bought this laptop from a friend (have receipt) who sell it to me because the screen was cracked and spidered all out when you the activated. And everywhere he went to ask to get the screen fixed it is very expensive ($250 - $350) and he said that it would be just a newer laptop. So he sold me this which is a model Probook of HP4420s XT940UT #ABA. About a week after I bought this Probook friend who sold it to died me suddenly. It was sudden and terrible. Some time later, I had the time of the purchase of the LCD for this model, replace it myself (was very easy actually) and booted up the laptop with a new installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Edition. After installing all my software and using the laptop for a while now, I wanted to get into the Bios that I've never done. So when I started the laptop, click ESC, then F10 to enter the BIOS, there were two places to enter a password is different then all Dell I've ever owned. One was mine I guees I put in place using HP protect tools and the other says BIOS/administrator. Well I can do most of the changes with the one I put in place with my password but my password does not work, nor can I get in some very significant changes that I wanted to do using Bios/administrator, as kindling the LoJack, namely the blocking of the hard drive etc. , turning on turbo boost, fan, etc. Well, since the person I bought is no longer with us, there is no one to turn to the answer to this question of administrator/BIOS password / problem.  I tried to take battery Rtype and restore that way, didn't work. Several times, I called HP and they sent me to a BIOS page to download the same BIOS, I have already, would not let me install it. When I bring up the command prompt and do not put anything in BiosConfigureUtility.exe happens, said just a wrong command. When I try to enter the BIOS through the C: file in the files of the SSM, I reach the BiosConfigUtility.exe file, click on it to open it and it just flashes a way small order page to fast to read what it says. I would like to have complete control over my laptop thinking I have a lot of time and money invested in it now. • Pavilion 500-449: monitor screen does not work with the new HP Pavilion 500-449

  Not sure if 64-bit or 32-bit.  More HP vs 19 flat screen LCD monitor or new monitor LG Flatron E2242 will appear with new HP Paviion 500-449.  Both will be lit.  Monitor says HP VGA No. imput and goes to sleep.  LG monitor says it's to enter the mode, same thing, I guess that energy saving.  The two appear on older HP Pavilion a1430n.  Store support suggests the problem lies in the monitor menu options but they do not display with a try monitor.

  Abandoned and reduced to store.  When they were scuffered too until they tried a second monitor in the back and noticed that it connected to a different place in the back!  Seems a converter is needed for old VGA monitors and then he plugs into a completely different place.  Originally, the husband plugged the power cord VGA of my screen instead of ONLY on the back, he could go, the marked spot VGA.  No, the converter is a big plug and can only fit above in a place with NO Label at all.  On top of that, everything IS there a converter plug supplied in the box with the computer, but there is absolutely NO mention of what to do with it, or where it goes.    I feel better that the store did not know that either; Clips by the way, where the young man was very nice.    He only discovered by accident because the store had two monitors with different plugs on the end.

  Welcome to the HP Forums! I see you're a few graphic problems. Did you install the ATI driver on the AMD website? If so, that's the problem. You have switchable graphics, which means that you have two video cards. The Intel card is designed for your treatment of basic graphics every day while the ATI card is designed to handle most of the work. Switchable graphics drivers are configured by the manufacturer of the laptop not the manufacturer of the graphics card.

  I suggest that you install your AMD HD graphics driver and your high-definition Intel Graphics Driver. If you need more information on the switchable graphics this document HP Switchable Graphics on laptops equipped with Intel and ATI GPU.

  None of the microphones in the studio work with our new E6320 Latitude. We tested the mics with mono, stereo cards taken, microphones headphones cheap and expensive studio microphones and none of them work or show a signal in windows 'Recorder' setting 'Jack Mic.

  This model has a single Jack that is supposed to be a headphone microphone combination plug, but it seems to work only as a headphone jack.

  Each microphone works very well when plug us into the power mic separated on the dock, but naturally I would rather not connect a dock autour.

  Has anyone experience this problem and have a fix? (I've already spent hours reloading drivers and talk to Dell 'Or' technical support but without success.)

  JJ, these types of jacks work with smart phone helmets that have a segment 4 plug instead of the normal 3 segments. It is unfortunate that they are put in computers. When used with normal cameras they will work as you described, headset will work but micro cards will not mate properly with contacts. You must use an adapter that you will find if you do a search under smart phone cards. One of them is the boyfriend of "helmet".

  Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, make a right click the entry for the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and choose uninstall.  Once done, restart the laptop.

  When windows has completely recharged, open your download folder, click with the right button on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Yet once, once done, reboot the laptop.
