  • Problem with the installation of service pack 1.

First - thanks to Bill Smithers for your answer.

My problem is the following: -.

Windows has downloaded about six copies of sp1 and always asks me to install another copy!

Whenever I go to 'update' he asks me to install another copy!

When I tried to download the sp2 it says I need sp1 must be installed first! But my page update says that it was properly installed.

Do I need to uninstall SP1 multiple copies? and start again?

I use Vista home Premium 32 bit and make me a little frustrated to say the least of it.

I need of sp1 and sp2 for some programs to work. Help!

    Best regards, David

I had exactly the same problem and it seems to have other, judging by the number of threads on this topic.

Yesterday, a response to a thread suggested a hyperlink through the Windows Download Center. I tried and for some inexplicable reason, it worked. I have now installed SP1. It shows in my system tray and is no longer updated tells me to install it. The hyperlink is http / / www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=910

    Worth a try.

My next challenge is to install SP2!

  • I have windows xp after the installation of service pack 3 I can only start in safe mode

I have windows XP after the installation of service pack 3 I can only start in safe mode?

    Hello

    ·         You get the error message?

    ·         What happens when you try to start in normal mode?

    Method 1

Windows XP can in every start Safe Mode by default. Even if you select the option Start Windows normally, it always starts in Mode without failure. IOW, you can't get out of safe mode.

This happens if the switch/SafeBoot is added to the Boot.ini file. / SafeBoot parameter forces a boot in safe mode by using the specified parameters. The available parameters are:

    (a) minimal

    (b) network

    (c) safeboot: minimal (alternateshell)

For more information about the boot.ini switches, see visualization and correction of the settings of the boot on x 86 systems

    RESOLUTION

    (a) click Start, run and type MSCONFIG

    (b) click the Boot.ini tab

    (c) If you have a dual-boot system, select the entry that is appropriate under the [operating systems]

    (d) in section downstairs, Startup Options uncheck / hisFEBOOT

    (e) click OK

    (f) restart Windows

The entry/SafeBoot are removed from the Boot.ini file.

    Method 2:

If the above method is not the cause, it seems that Service Pack 3 is not installed correctly.

Step 1: You try to run the system restore from safe mode that will repair return the computer to the point while it was working fine.

  • Have a problem with the installation of CF9

    Hello

I try to install CF9 on my computer, but I have a problem, once the installation is complete and he gets to the part administrator and Migration (the part where it opens a browser). I enter the admin password, and then click ok, then he's going to the page that says that the server is configured. There is a note that says that it can take a few minutes, but after a wait of 10-15, I get a time-out error that says that demand is greater than the permitted time limit. I don't know what to do at this point. I tried reinstalling and changing installation options, but nothing works.

On a note separated, once the installation is complete, I get a Jrun4 process in Windows Task Manager and it completely my computers memory hogs. After a few minutes, it will use about 500 MB of memory and the computer is unusable because of how long it takes to respond to each click.

    Help, please!

Here are the stats from my computer:

(Filled all the requirements of system)

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

    AMD Athlon (TM) 64 X 2 Dual - Core TK-57 1.9 GHz processor

    959 MB OF RAM

    32 - bit operating system

My default browser is Google Chrome and it's what he uses when it goes through this problem. I tried manually run the link administrator with IE and firefox and I get the same problems.

My computer is a HP Compaq Presario F700 laptop and its about 2 years while working well, maybe it's just not up to running CF9?

    Thanks for any help,

    Alex

I've never used this cfstart.bat file to start CF.  The process to install a Windows Service must have been created: use it.  I don't know if it makes a difference, but through a shell you do in CF cfstart.bat may not be a perfect way of doing things.

The CF error you get just means that CF is pulling the plug on your request because it takes so long.  I think that, by default, there is a 60 sec timeout.  I've never seen CFAdmin take 60-sec to boot.  This setting is usually configured via CFAdmin and not sure where to turn off if this same setting prevents a bet in CFAdmin.  I'll have a look later... time for me to jump on a bandwagon.

Maybe put your Xmx set back up to at least 256 MB.  To save a little bit more RAM, you could probably reduce your - XX: MaxPermSize to the low a little too (maybe up to 64 MB?  Not sure about that).

Your PC seems to be quite tight on resources, if you need to do this kind of thing, btw.  I note that you use only 1 GB of RAM on a Vista machine.  EEEK.  I wouldn't anything less than 2 GB (and would prefer 4 GB while she performance).  Your question may that Windows is having to share a RAM disk too, which will slow down everything until analysis.  Which seems to be what you feel.  Windows itself needs... what... about 400 MB to run these days, before you start trying to assign any what RAM in other applications.  1 GB is not enough.

    Hi Berto5097,

Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

The following are possible causes of this problem:

    ·         A program on your computer interfered with the installation of the service pack.

    ·         There is an inconsistency in the store of Windows services. The store Windows maintenance is a required component to install service packs.

    Hello Matt,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

    1. You are able to install other software/drivers without any problem?
    2. You have security software installed on your computer?

Try it out below mentioned methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1

I suggest you to disable the temporary security on the system software and check if it helps.

    Disable the antivirus

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

    Method 2

    Note:

This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

You can use the following link to back up and restore the registry in Windows: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/

This error can occur due to permission problem in the registry for the USB controllers. I recommend that you take the permission to the registry editor USB. To do so follow the steps below.

    • Run regedit from the Start menu. Be sure to export a backup copy of the registry before continuing.
    • Browse to the location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ENUM\USB

    • Right click on the USB folder and select permissions...
    • In the dialog box, make sure everyone is a listed group and that the reading is checked.
    • Click the Advanced tab and make sure that include the permissions that can be inherited from the parent of this object is selected, as shown.

    • Go to the owner tab and be sure to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects is selected as shown.

    • Select Apply to apply these changes. A warning message may appear at this stage. Select OK to continue.
    • If necessary permissions for USB dialog box select , and then click OK to exit.

Feel free to post them here if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.
