• E6420 - does have an internal microphone and how allow you it

  I think they are on each side of the webcam on top of the lid when opened up but not really sure.  Someone who can confirm?

  Also, how do activate you it.  I right click a show selected disabled devices, but the microphone always appears as disabled with no way to enable it.

  My headphones and external speakers work fine, but I'm not really want to buy a headset/mic combo combo because I don't use it that much.

  I tried to call and leave a message on my voicemail with Google Voice and he complains that the MIC is muted and I can't seem to understand how to enable or disable the mute it.  Please help.

  Alan, the reason it's different is that my picture was my E5420 Latitude that uses the same driver IDT as your E6420, but on my model, there is a different microphone.

  "Micro Array" refers to the microphones built into the Assembly of the webcam. On my model, the webcam was optional and I don't understand. (I have an "internal microphone" on the basis of the laptop near the power button). If your sound properties looks very good. The microphone is enabled and set as the default device.

  If this does not work, try this. Open the webcam application that should be preinstalled on your computer. Start > all programs > Dell Webcam > Dell Webcam Central. There should be a microphone icon there. There are different versions of the program - here's a photo hence the icon is on my version.

  

  Whatever the version, there will be settings microphone somewhere. Make sure that the microphone is active in Webcam Central.

  If it still does not work, it may be defective. If you are still under warranty, you must contact technical support to schedule a repair.

  You do not have 800 registry errors and there is no reason to correct them. If you use something like UniBlue, stop, uninstall it and throw it before it causes serious damage to your system.

  If it is an earlier MS-DOS program, I doubt that he would run under Windows 7. It could, but I doubt it.  You can run DOSBox (http://www.dosbox.com) and run it in an emulator. However, to access the command prompt (DOS prompt), you can open start, then type CMD and press ENTER. That will take you to the DOS command prompt. From there, you need to navigate to where the program is installed or install it from the disc.
