  You have disabled the Suggestions show inside the Google search bar.

  To activate the Suggestions show:
  Click once inside the search bar, then click inside the bar.
  At the bottom of the context menu, choose Show Suggestions

  Shut down and restart firefox and then turn it back on and restart again.

  I think there is an easier way for you to do. Try adding the following to the item you want to play/pause:

  I had a weird problem with Google on Safari recently. After that the search for something from the Google home page and search page is loaded, I can't be able to change or enter anything in the more the google search bar. I have to reload the page every time google to search something else. Google search worked fine on Firefox though.

  I use the latest version of Safari (9.0.2) and I tried clears all history data, and Web site, but nothing has worked so far. My Mac is running on OS X Yosemite so what counts.

  I have a MB Pro OS X El Capitan 10.11.12 running version 2015.  My default search engine is Google.  After the recent update, whenever I'm looking for something in the Apple search bar in Safari, it will bring me to the page of Google results as usual, but if I want to change the search criteria in the search bar (not the Apple search bar), it won't let me.  It won't delete, add, or change the search criteria in the Google search bar in the Web page.

  I tried Yahoo and Bing and both work very well.  I also tried Google on Firefox and it works fine too, there must be something with Safari.

  Any suggestions?  Does anyone else have this problem?

  Ugh! I just figured this out, the simplest thing too.

  There is a dialog box on the google page saying something like "Download Google Chrome" and you can click on the x to close that.  Once you do this, the search bar can be changed again.

  Firefox (at least on the version of Linux) does not include the default Google search engine.   This looks like a bug. The 'add search engine"for Google works for me on Linux. Google also has their own blue banner that appears whenever I'm doing a Google search saying "Set Google as your default search engine."

  There is no way to manually edit search engines, however. The good news is, you don't need to keep whatever the module allows you to add a search engine. These modules are needed to get the search engine added. When you have added the Google search, you can remove the add-on.
