I have two computers running vista and rebuilt recently starting them from original vista diskettes. I can't upgrade to SP1

they have updated ok using automatic updates, but once they came to the service pack one they say that it has been installed ok, but when I check on the system sp1 isn't here. It seems that I'm still on the original version of Vista. I now want to go to SP2 because it is the only supported version now but can't because it says sp1 must be installed first.  How can I update?

Hello

-What is the exact error message / complete that you receive when trying to install the SP1 update?
-You are aware of any changes made on the computer before this problem?

If SP1 has been well installed and still does not appear in the information system we correct as registry below :
(a) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion CSDVersion
Set it to 100
(b) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows CSDVersion
Set it to 100
(c) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Windows CSDVersion
Set it to 100
(d) restart the computer.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
