I have two MS Vista Defrag questions...

For my Vista Ms...

(1) Defrag seems to get the percent of processor bandwidth very limited task manager when running for more than 4 hours...

(2) the defragmentation Scheduler doesn't seem to work... I've never seen run on the scheduled date and time...

Is this a known issue?  If so, how to solve it?  I can't find a way to uninstall and reinstall.

Mark

Hello

You cannot uninstall, and then reinstall the Vista defrag program.

It is part of the Vista operating system.

The Vista defrag works quietly in the background without intervention on your part.

It is not designed to use a lot of your computer's resources and to interfere in your daily work

In Windows Vista, there are a lot of improvements in the defrag engine and handling of fragmentation. By default, Windows Vista uses Task Scheduler to automatically keep the defragmented hard drive. This Automatic defragmentation does not affect the performance of the Windows Vista operating system...

If you think that other problems with it, try to run the integrated Vista System File Checker Utility in Vista:

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

See you soon.
