I used to use VMware Workstation 10 and recently upgraded to VMware workstation 11. However, whenever I try to install a newer version of VMware tools, it will fail with message saying something like "VMware Tools can be installed in the Virtual Machine.
Yes, I am trying to install VMware Tools within the guest operating system, but I get this notification for all my virtual machines, I'm running.
I'm under 6 Virtual Machines simultaneously and they run on Windows 7 32 bit OS and configured with 4 GB of RAM, 1CPU, 100GB HD + 5 GB second HD for the swap file, NO printer, no sound card.
For each virtual machine, I changed about 50 + key of Windows registry and detect the values to hide from all the programs that they are running on the virtual machine.
I assume due to records, I changed, it confuses VM installer who it is not running on a Virtual Machine. Then I tried to change all these registers changed to send it back to the original value, yet I is always the same message.
I must be missing either some registry values or values that I restored is false. But I don't know which is the case.
I can simply delete all my Virtual Machines and start again with the new virtual machine, but I don't want to repeat this process whenever a newer version of the VM tools out. and installation of windows and search and replace registry values for each virtual computer is full of works.
So, here is my question. Anyone know how to force the update / install VM tools in my virtual machine?
P.S. I added under scripts in the file .vmx for each of the virtual machines. I don't think it would cause the problem but just in case I include it.

Another debutant fails to install vmware-tools
I know that the process is supposed to be automated, fool-proof and easy to use, but my newly installed with reader
Comments Debian Linux 7 won't install vmware-tools V9.6.2, which he keeps trying to download.
After about 3 seconds, I crash with the client error internal error 3033 CD.
I cobbled together something together in a previous version--tools and have the adjustable screen resolution, but other parts
de./VMware-install.pl were not happy - in particular the so-called gcc.
A more frustrating experience. I have gone through documentation and sources but cannot determine what .iso file to download
to get the process on track.
Hello
After checking the photo, I recommend you run this command:
apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
Then, try reinstalling vmware tools

How to install VMWARE tools in ESXi VirtualHost?
Friends,
New in the vmware community... Just-VCP5-VTC review first attempt scored 184 little weak feeling... is in any case I have server with 16 GB of memory and processors R710 Dual Core Quad and 4 TB of storage with raid 0 which gives me two 2 TB built in Lun with raid 5 OS mirrored disks. Have installed ESXi server and created 4 VMS 1 VC, 1 ms and 2 linux machine I will use as ESXi servers for clustering; HA; DRS etc.
I am struggling to install the vmware tools on virtual hosts esxi; can't seem to get the media using the mount command? I installed vmware tools on other virtual machines to linux without problem...
VMware Tools are not available or supported on ESXi virtual hosts.
BTW. I'm a bit confused about the "... and have 4 TB of storage with raid 0 which gives me two 2 TB built in Lun with raid 5 OS mirrored disks...» ». Assuming that you have 4 disks, not do you have configured them in 3 RAID5 disks with a backup?

Satellite P200D-128 - Question about installed Norton anti-virus
Hi, I bought a Toshiba Satellite P200D-128 last week and to say I'm majorly annoyed with Toshiba would be an understatement, and that understatement. Fine machine autoinstalled as its operating system, and I found I had Norton anti-virus installed, or at least I thought I had because a beautiful Norton logo quicklink arrived on my desk.
In fact, only a partial shell of Norton installed and actually have an anti-virus properly functioning to connect on the site of Norton. This arrangement is just stupid, because I am well aware, surf the Internet without effective antivirus / anti-malware is not a question of if the computer will get infected, but when the computer will be infected.
I have the experience to build my own desktop PC, and basically what I do is install an anti-virus package from the DVD drive with a front disc even connect the machine to the internet and then update the anti-virus software anti-virus Internet home before that I would all navigation on the web.Not only have a Norton Quicklink on the center of office crazy to think one has a functioning entirely anti-virus / anti-malware installed, but the partial shell of fools Norton also Windows Vista security in thinking there are a lot of anti-virus installed and it also disables the alert windows system that will remind the user of the computer if there is no antivirus installed package.
This situation should never have been raised and I think it's a shame. Also criminal elements no doubt major behind the likes of malware, which struck upward on the ploy clever to have infected unsuspecting computer user with malicious software, which uses then the malware to put up a false messages of Windows operating system, which informs the user of the computer has been infected and asking them to download a fake anti-virus packages , must be particularly delighted with this situation, in that a user will be once they see such a message may well click the link of Norton and probably find their Norton is only a partial shell and then install one of the packages most likely fake anti-virus.
If Toshiba and Norton had deliberately set to infect the computers of users with viruses and other malware, it is difficult to see how they could have done a better job of it, unless they had pre-installed viruses and malware themselves on the computer.
I wonder, this case went to Toshiba and/or / attention of Norton and if so, what they had to say for themselves?Concerning the best and warm
Adrian WainerPS I forgot to mention that the partial shell package Norton also implements a toolbar in their browser, which reinforces even more the (false) impression that we have a fully functional package of the antivirus installed
Hey Buddy
I m bit confused about your ad and how you wrote this.
I would like to mention a few facts:
I m a Satellite P200 owner (it s even as P200, but with Intel the piece) and my laptop is equipped with the Norton Internet Security program.
Of course, it s a subscription for 90 days, but it s a functional full version.Everything is pre-installed, but you need to configure and create a Norton account.
I know because I read the instructions and information that are stored on my laptop. If you would in a full version of Norton Internet Security, you must create this account also.
So you must connect to the internet also if you n t have an Antivirus Program preinstalled to set this up.Of course it must be updated also with the Internet because the antivirus definition file changes almost every time and the internet connection is required for this update.
Why is it necessary? Because the image of Toshiba has designed several weeks ago and, therefore, the antivirus definition files is not updated. The same thing happens if you don t use the laptop for several weeks and don t perform the update of the operating system or antivirus.
Don t wonder, therefore, you must connect to the internet to get everything updated. Please don t be angry with me, but I have my own opinion, you are one of the users who don t read the manual of the user or any other information that are equipped with Notepad and could be interesting for the use of the computer laptop but only start Notepad, install a few 3rd party apps and don t configure the operating system that is stored on the laptop.
So I think that we could avoid this discussion if you read and check all detailed ;)

Confused about Directx 9 .0c
I installed Mass Effect for PC yesterday on my Windows 7 PC.
After the installation is complete, a popup opened asking me if I wanted to install Directx 9 .0c, as it was required for the game to run. I chose not to install it while I'm confused about Directx backward compatibility.
First of all, is the Setup installation Mass Effect offers, the same as the Execution on the site of Microsoft Directx end user?
Second, if the version of the installer from Mass Effect differs from Microsoft, I'm sure the Microsoft runtime more.
But I do not understand what the runtime needs to reach - it allows me to play the old Directx 9 .0c and previous games on my Windows 7 PC, but still be capable of Directx 10 and Directx 11 games as well?
One last thing - the Mass Effect system requirements say that my sound card must be compatible Directx 9 compatible .0c. How will I know that my sound card is compatible? I ran dxdiag but he didn't tell me whether or not my sound card is compatible.
Thanks for your help!
Hello bingiton.
In short: install it.
DirectX 9 is separated to DX10 and 11. And some games require DX9 optional components that they want installed. Paul Smith - MVP for Windows desktop experience... I crawled off NNTP - for now. How to install vmware esxi 5.5 on ucs220 M3
Hi Member,.
I have this in my lab
UCS 220 M3 with hardward raid:
CISCO UCS RAID SAS 2008 M - 8i: PID UCSC-RAID-MZ-C220 Mezzanine 4 internal NO. 0, 1, 1E, 10 4 discs: 1 mini SAS (UCSC-3)
I'm trying to install VMWARE ESXi5.5 on it, while installation work perfectly fine, but the server could not start from where vmware is installed.
Any help will be appreciated on how to go about the installation and the creation of a part of the bios initialization.
Thank you
When you press F6, you see the RAID controller that is listed as a boot option?
Can we go to the MMIC BIOS configuration, Advanced tab and check the Option ROM (OPROM) this controller is activated?
So useful, please note

Catch 22 tries to install VMware Tools
I created a Windows 7 VM from a physical PC. I 'play' on a Player 10 Windows via VMware Workstation 12 host, connect to the guest and then click on the "Install tools" button in the player. I see this error message:
"The virtual machine must have a virtual CD/DVD device to install VMware Tools."
OK, so I turned off the guest who also ends the player, rerun the player, select the virtual machine and click on "Edit virtual machine settings". On the Hardware tab, I click on the Add button, select "reader of CD/DVD", click Next, select the "use ISO image" radio button (because I guess that's what the error message means by "virtual CD/DVD"), and then click Next, and then I get invited to an ISO image. And that's the Catch 22 - the error message indicates that the player has just need a virtual device, not an ISO, but when I try to add a virtual device, the player wants an ISO.
How to break this vicious circle and install VMware Tools?
I thought about it myself the answer to a question on the superuser. Here are the steps:
- Stop the virtual machine
- Run the drive and select the virtual machine
- Click on "Edit virtual machine settings".
- Click on "Add..." "in the Hardware tab
- Select "CD/DVD Drive", and then click Next
- Select the "use ISO image" radio button and click Next
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware drive and double-click windows.iso
- Uncheck the box "Connect to light" (probably any) and click on finish
- Click OK
- Click on "Play virtual machine."
- Log on to the virtual computer
- Click installation tools
- Follow the instructions in the installer

You want to install VMware Workstation 11.1.1 on new 8.1 Windows Pro 64-bit PC.
I had VMware Workstation 11.1.0, and deleted the original installer but did not finish the installation of the new version
The installer gets about 2/3 way (progress bar) and then crashes, Windows Installer says Event Viewer hung.
Race tried without firewall and AV, always not install question
A ran the installer with / clean option and then tried again, but still he did not finish the installation process (crashes at the same place)
Noticed in the Manager tasks that VMware Installer runs at about 14% of CPU, but nothing happens
I'm really at a loss as to why I can't install VMware Workstation 11.1.1, all the other soft\ware settles very well.
Please could someone help me?
Thank you

Cannot install VMWare Player, workstation or anything like that
All appear to be the same way with a message like:
However I've checked that the file exists and that I can access. What is the problem?
I had VMWare Player 6.0.5 and could not install/update VMWare tools. So, I suspended my operating system prompted and rebooted VMPlayer. He told me that there is a new VMWare Workstation something 10.x and I wanted to upgrade to it. Okay, of course. Downloaded the update and tried to install. Said to uninstall VMWare Player 6.0.5. Being suspicious, I went and downloaded VMWPlayer 6.0.5 where he screwed up the installation of Workstation 10.0. Of course, he did. So I tried to install Player 6.0.5 so I could return to my suspended VM. In my opinion, what he said that I could not install because I haven't restarted. So I rebooted. Now, I can't install Player 6.0.5 or Workstation 10.0.0 or whatever it is. They all fail on the same way saying the cannot find a .msi file I can find and access.
Help!
BTW, you guys have far too much product and names making it confusing. What should I use? Player? Workstation? Spear? vCenter, Fusion. The list goes on and. Do not try to give me the list of "well it's for this reason and this other thing". The point is there are too many products and it is too complicated. If you want to tell me what the structure of the product is just limit it to the product I should use. I have a Windows 7 box and you want to run Ubuntu in a VM desktop - that's all...
Thank you.
Hello
Please note that this is a forum for peer support and therefore, it is mainly users of VMware help other VMware users who make up the bulk of this forum. It is VMware employees responding in time in time, but in your case here (Note: VMware employees are recognizable because they have a small 'vm' next to their name logo)
With regard to your current number. If you install VMware Workstation, then you have also installed VMware Player next.
Even after the expiry of VMware Workstation, you can continue to use the free VMware Player.
Hope this helps,

Confusion about the requirements for the 2015 CC software
I currently have Windows 8.0 (64 bit) which is so satisfactory and stable. I have not upgraded to 8.1 Windows because I can't install same normal updates for Windows 8.0 without experiencing freezes system that only restore points can heal. So for now, I would stick with what I have. But the problem is the confusing requirements for various programs within the pile of creative cloud applications:
Premiere Pro: Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (64-bit) or Windows 8 (64-bit)
Photoshop: Microsoft Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1Illustrator: Microsoft Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8 or 8.1 Windows
Dreamweaver: Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8 or 8.1 Windows
Hearing: Microsoft® Windows® 7 with Service Pack 1 (64-bit), Windows 8 (64-bit) or Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
So what I'm confused about is the fact that Windows 8.0 is not listed for Photoshop, but Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are. Does this mean Photoshop CC 2015 is not compatible with Windows 8? And that means that Premiere Pro is not compatible with Windows 8.1 since only 7.0 (SP1) and 8.0 are listed, I would have preferred the upgrade of software CC WITHOUT update Windows since I am picky on my installation of Windows 8 stable pipes now solid as a rock. Fortunately, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and hearing are compatible with all three, it seems.
Can someone clear up the confusion, please?
I think that my hardware is OK for this.
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair Formula V-Z (AMD 990FX)
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vichera 3.5 GHz
Memory: 16GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 2133 MHz
Video: MSI N650-MD1GD5/OC GeForce 650MX
Monitor: Acer S271HL of 27 "(1920 x 1080)"
