  I'm currently editing images so I can put them on the Web site of athletics, is to save the image to say quality 6 sufficient to prevent people from printing to good resolution, that is to say if they want to print a 6 x 4 or 8 x 10 image don't come rasterized, want to look good on the site, but garbage if they try to print it.   Open your image in Photoshop, go it to Image > Image size and type (for example) 500 pixels on the longer edge (width or height), make sure Resample is checked so that the image is reduced proportionally, the resolution is not relevant in this context. Click OK, and then click record under, (select JPG as the format and compression you want) and note where you saved the image. Your original image will remain at its original size, but you'll have a smaller (assuming that you have smaller!) copy.

  You can use file-> Send link or copy the web address of the address bar and paste it into an email.

  You can do in PSE.

  1. Do the math to see how much space you'll need on your canvas to the image and text.
  2. Navigate to the file queue > new.blank. Enter the width & height, background color, resolution 72 px / in. It is your canvas, and in the layers palette will be the background layer.
  3. Copy and paste the image. It turns on a separate layer
  4. Activate the tool move, position the image and resize if necessary
  5. Activate the text tool, and then type your text. It will be on a separate so layer
  6. Position the text.
  7. Flatten layers and go to file > save for web. I'm usually on the long side about 800 px. Don't forget to check "constrain proportions". Adjust the quality slider to suit. You will probably want the type of JPEG file for web work.

  You will need to use a script.  If your server supports PHP, this will do what you want. Change filename & path to point to your download folder.  SaveAs download.php.

  Place a link on your page parent download.php file.
