I'm trying to restore Vista OS to the factory settings and it requires a password that I never created.

It is an Acer Aspire 5315 that my mom gave to my daughter. She says that she has never created a system restore point that requires a password so how to do this? Oh, and I have no disc as it came preloaded.

Hello

A System Restore Point is not the process of factory settings recovery.

Using a System Restore Point puts the settings of the computer to an earlier date.

Recovery to factory settings is to reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

Some Acer models have a default password that you use to start the process of the "hidden" recovery Partition Recovery

Usually press you Alt + F10 at startup to start the process of relocation and Acer default password should be 6 zeros, unless someone has changed.

If not, give Acer a phone call.

See you soon.

Page 28 of the manual of your system describes how use the built in Acer eRecovery Management software to restore your system to factory settings.

Doing so will scan all your personal data and when you did, I think you need to configure your Internet connection again since the factory settings are unlikely to know everything about your current installation of Internet.

If you experience a problem with your system, I think I would fix rather whatever is the problem, but here's what Acer has to say about it:

    The manual is here:

    This article reads as follows:

Recovery and restore features allow to restore or restore the system

created backups of CD and DVD. You can also reinstall applications and drivers for your Acer system.

    1. press on + or select Acer eRecovery Management of the

    2. position yourself in the restoration and recovery page by selecting the button restore.

    3. Select the point of backup you want to restore from. You can also

  • Is it possible to back up and restore a U300s to the factory settings?

I decided to buy a U300s. Since it is not an optical drive and therefore does not come with any installation media, I'm a bit confused how I could backup the drive so I can later restore to the default settings.

Is there a way to copy the content of the internal on a USB to allow SSD to boot on the USB key? Is it possible to restore the SSD in the exact state wherever it was when it left the factory?

    A little more detail...

I plan to install Linux on the U300s and didn't want to dual boot Windows. So I'll be reformatting and using the entire disk for Linux. However, there are a few rare times where I might need to start Windows (for example BIOS update Setup). Preferably, I would like to have a USB collecting dust somewhere that I could start in these rare cases.

I wonder if something like this might work:

    1. Start a new U300s with a live Linux USB flash drive
    2. Use the dd to clone the SSD on a portable USB drive
    3. Install Linux
    4. Start Windows from the USB drive cloned as needed

Would this be something like this work? I prefer to do all this Linux because I have very little experience with Windows (I can barely do anything), but use Linux for 15 years and more.

Using the software onekey recovery start in windows, there is an option to save an image of the disc on a DVD external U300s of origin. It's tedious, but you can use a virtual DVD drive to achieve. I found a free and set the size of disk backup 8 GB or something, then ran the backup saying onekey recovery backup on the external virtual drive.

Take a look at this and previous pages of the forum to get info on how todo it.

    Worked a charm

Only problem now I guess that could recover from that backup, because it's too much to be burned onto a single DVD. Some combo of virtual disks again and maybe an external USB drive.

Let us know how the installation of Linux.

  • I have an Aspire 571 V3 that I thought that I was restoring the factory settings and save my files for

Hi everyone, I hope that there is someone out there who can help me. I have an Aspire 571 V3 that I picked up at the factory settings, or so I thought. After all the files had been cleared and the system recovered it restarted and displayed a black screen with 'the installation program starts services' and a flashing light below are progressing. It has been that way for hours eight (8). is this normal or should I worry? In its current form, I have no control on the machine on the touch pad or mouse. I have provided with Currys computer recovery discs, but they are not to be recognized.

8 hours is a little too, you can try to stop it and repair the resumption of the process.

do a long press on the power button to stop it

at the next startup, press Alt + F10, and then check if you are able to start the Acer recovery process

    If it isn't

Enter the BIOS by pressing F2 at startup

enable F12 boot menu if not already enabled

    Save and exit

put your first recovery disk on your laptop

stop your laptop making the long press the power button / stop

at the next startup, press F12, and then on the startup list select DVD/CD player

I have bin told I can do using bios by pressing f8 at the boot screen.

    Hello

When you start your notebook F8 repeatedly press. You enter the Advanced startup options. If you n t change anything on preinstalled HDD (delete the second partition, change the structure or installed other OS partitions), you will see option to fix my computer.

When you start this option, you enter The System Recovery Options. Last option, there are Toshiba Recovery option.

  • Last update, iOS 9.2, eliminated the function "search" in the email, I used massively.  Tried to restore to a previous backup, 15/2, and 'research' does not return, always shows iOS 9.2 in my settings.  How do I return search function?

The last update, iOS for iPad mini 4, 12.7 9.2 GB of capacity, has eliminated the search function in the email, I used very strongly.  Tried to restore to a previous backup, 15/2, and 'research' don't come back and always shows iOS 9.2 in my settings.  Yesterday, a new useful feature appeared, an entry 'return to mail' at the top left of the screen (Safari, at least), which now also seems to be missing. Siri, I don't want to bother with earlier, continues to display everytime I try to go back to the home page of apps/programs, is driving me crazy.  Except for limited iPad usage (mail, Safari for the links from emails, play music, some reading books mainly) mainly am only moderately competent Windows PC user, so am frustrated at best. Any ideas on how to restore or add this feature to return search (and get Siri shut up!)?

You can disable Siri in settings/general if you want to completely disable the function.  I suppose that you use the Home button to return to the home screen.  If you press the button too long, Siri is enabled.  Too long is not very long, so you must quickly press and release the Home button.

    Good day.
