  I recently bought a HP Pavilion Notebook with Vista 32 bit SP1. My problem is that I can't download files .exe from the internet. In Firefox and Internet Explorer, the download box appears, I'm prompted to choose where the file should be saved and then nothing happens.   Thank you for posting.  Download of .exe files has been disabled in most internet browsers for awhile now as a protection against the evil-ware and viruses.  Download a .exe file that is not in a container (zipped or some form of compression) is likely to be something nasty to your computer.
