I'm unable to reinstall itunes

When I tried to update itunes, my computer deleted somehow, and now I can't reinstall itunes. It comes up with an error message saying that there is something wrong with a software or something. I have windows 7.

Try to repair the Apple Software Update of the programs and features Control Panel and then try to install the latest version of iTunes by using the installer downloaded from the Apple website.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

  • How can I uninstall and reinstall iTunes on my iMac without disturbing my large music collection?

I think iTunes is damaged on my iMac as I get some POPs and clicks in the audio when playing music. This does not work when I use Spotify. Please notify.

Try using the Quick Look of Finder feature or your browser to listen to the music.

If the songs are playing correctly, back up your library and reinstall iTunes normally. Probably, you will not need to use the backup immediately.

If they aren't, delete and reload the songs, and then save the library.

  • reinstalled itunes on new pc and all the songs are duplicated

    r

I reinstalled iTunes on new pc and all the songs are duplicated. How can I delete everyone else?

iTunes can create duplicates if the same content is added several times from outside the media folder when it is about to make copies of everything that is added to the library, or is added from an external drive that hosts the press kit that was disconnected during the launch of iTunes.

Official notice of Apple on the duplicates is here: find and remove duplicates in your iTunes library. This is a manual process and article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as the lost coast and membership of playlist, or sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library as well as a removal and recycling the file will break all the others.

Use MAJ > display > show items to reproduce exactly to display the duplicates because it is normally a selection more useful. You must manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sort the list by Date added can make easier select appropriate tracks, but it works better when executed immediately after the dupes were created.  If you have several entries in iTunes connected to a same file on the disk hard then don't not send to trash.

Use my DeDuper script (Windows only) If you are not sure, do not want to do it by hand, or want to maintain ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this background thread , this post for detailed instructions and Please take note of the warning to back up your library before deduping.

(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to temporarily view or CTRL + B to keep displayed.)

The latest version of the script can put away the dead links as long as there is at least a double live to merge his stats and membership of the playlist and must deal wisely when the same file has been added through multiple paths.

  • Can I uninstall and reinstall iTunes

iTunes is now part of the operating system and cannot be uninstalled manually.  To reinstall iTunes, OS X will need to be resettled by the recovery mode.  Reinstall OS X cannot be the appropriate to take troubleshooting measure.  It seems that iTunes becomes insensitive to the launch, try to test the issue in a new user account.

  • Unable to launch iTunes

Download "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience. "message at the launch of iTunes in Win XP SP3. Microsoft Management Console is missing the file run for local service "Application Management". I've exhausted all the suggestions of Apple online support.

Excuse me, but I'm not going to try very hard to help to repair a system that has been trashed by the use of a registry cleaner (see note below).

    That said...

I suggest following the procedure below between the lines of * to uninstall remainders of your old installation of iTunes and do a clean install of iTunes:

    ***************************************************************************************************

    New facilities corrupted iTunes.

Used to have a tool just to do this, called the Windows Installer Microsoft Cleanup utility.  Apparently, however, when this tool has been used (I think with MS Office), removes sometimes more he was supposed to, and that's why Microsoft has removed the tool of its download servers.

The Windows Installer Cleanup utility is always available from http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html , or you can use the free Revo Uninstaller.  Before using or the other of these tools, create a restore point from the system, backup the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT, or (if you can afford) creates a full disk image or a clone - just in case.

Here are the usual directions to perform a "clean installation" of iTunes, based on Support of Apple HT1926 article.

Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
    Remove these applications:
    1 Apple Software Update
    2. Apple Mobile Device Support
    3 Hello
4 iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)
    5 iTunes
    6 QuickTime

Open my computer > C: > Program Files
    Delete these files (if present)
    1 iPod
    2 iTunes
    3 QuickTime

    Empty your temp directory:
Open my computer > C: > Documents & Settings > username > Local Settings and delete the contents of the folder called "Temp".

If you don't see the local settings, enable hidden files:
Tools > Folder Options > view tab
Select Show Hidden Files & folder, and then click OK

Once this file is empty, restart the computer

[See note above regarding cleanup utility]
Download & install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the utility: start > programs > Windows Installer Clean Up
Select one of the applications mentioned above and click on remove

    Restart the computer
Download & reinstall iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    ***************************************************************************************************

The question of the function of management applications may be relevant to your problem, because this service provides software installation services.  However, management of service applications is not included in Windows XP Home Edition (you don't mention what version of XP you have), IMO so chances are that this has nothing to do with your problem are low.

You could take a peek in the "system" log in the event viewer (start > run > eventvwr > OK) for any errors of "Service Control Manager" and if yes, double click it and see if they mention the applications management service.  If there's nothing there, click the "Copy" icon (right underneath the up/down arrows) and paste the information into an answer here.

The "status" of the service is not as important as the "Startup type".  The latter is supposed to be set to 'Manual', which means that the service will be launched whenever something that needs the services requested.

The reason why your search has not is that you were looking for the wrong thing. There is no file named "svchost.exe - k netsvcs" - he has just svchost.exe.

Svchost.exe is a Windows XP application core.  It is used for processes of 'host' run from dynamic link (DLL files) libraries rather than the exe or other executables directly.  The rest of this line (i.e. - k netsvcs) indicates a particular instance of svchost.exe which group (defined in the registry) services will be hosted by this instance of svchost.  For more details, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314056/
