I need to use my Windows 8 license to another computer

Hi, I went ahead and purchased Windows 8 for me around Christmas. At the time, I was unaware of the installation PC 1 limit. Of course, I learned about this, after that I installed it for my cousin on his computer... Now I want to install it on my PC and I need to know how it can ban the key used to install Windows 8, so that I can use it for me. Thanks for all the feedback!

You'll need to remove it from your PC cousins, this can be done either by reinstalling the original version of Windows that has been installed on the computer before the upgrade to Windows 8.

Reinstall Windows XP:

Install,reinstall, or uninstall Windows - help & How-to ...

Reinstall Windows Vista: installation and relocation of Windows Vista

Reinstall Windows 7:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

After having done that, you can proceed to upgrade your computer to Windows 8 or reactivate over the telephone if its already installed:

1. press the Windows key + X , and then clickrun, and then type: slui.exe 4

2. then press the ENTER"" key.

3. Select your "country" in the list.

4. choose the option "activate phone".

5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

6. explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • You can transfer the Pack Windows Media Center on another computer Windows 8 Pro?

When Media Center Pack goes free for win8 Pro, I submit one.

When I update with the key Media Center Pack, I see the LICENSE AGREEMENT on the terms of transfer software.
    I have a question:
It is said bind Media Center Pack to your computer for activation, this means that you can not transfer a Media Center Pack to another computer, but dose the win8 pro which update this Media Center Pack also link to this computer?
Or just the Media Center Pack has been linked to, the win8 pro which update this Media Center Pack can be transferred to another computer?
Can someone give me an official response?

If you remove the installation of Windows 8 Pro of the current computer, then activate it on another computer, you can then move the Media Center license on another computer. Media Center license is dependent on installation of Windows 8 Pro enabled. He could never be associated with the computer because it requires an operating system.

  • Can downgrade you Windows 7 to Windows XP using the Windows 7 license?

I did a search on this topic, and it doesn't seem to be an answer to this.

We are a business in the OEM version of sale of the Windows 7 Professional there is a customer who wishes to downgrade to Windows XP Professional

It is said that the OEM Windows 7 Professional version has the option to downgrade to Windows XP.

I also found an article that Microsoft extended this downgrade to 2020

    http://www.Computerworld.com/s/article/9179109/Microsoft_extends_Windows_XP_downgrade_rights_until_2020

At the moment I have installed Windows XP from scratch and I want to activate Windows XP by using the Windows 7 Professional license.

    Is this possible?

7 eligible for Downgrade Windows OEM versions

It is listed on the Microsoft Web site - http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/downgrade_rights.aspx

Only certain versions of OEM Windows 7 include the right to downgrade:

    * Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate includes the right to downgrade to Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Edition full.
    * Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate includes the right to downgrade to Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or Windows XP x 64 Edition.
    * Other OEM of Windows 7 versions (for example, Windows 7 Home Basic Edition and Windows 7 Home Premium) do not include downgrade rights.

If you are a system integrator, you will need to provide the separate license of Windows XP. You can't actually use the Windows 7 product key to activate Windows XP.

    Hello

My father has recently upgraded to a laptop with Windows 7, but misses his old games which are not compatible. I have rebuilt successfully his old vista laptop on Windows XP (better compatibility) but it requires activation and the code I have does not work.

It has the Windows XP as it came with a laptop even earlier, but I think that automation can detect, it has been used on the computer as soon as possible.

Any of you know how I do it to get Microsoft to recognize that it is is no longer using the old laptop and wants to instead use Windows XP on this newer model?

He holds the license for the software as surely he has the right to install (only) on any machine as he wants?

The laptop that I installed XP is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo LI 1718.
The version of Windows XP, there is no service pack (it is so old!) but I have installed all updates until and including SP3.

If you need any other information to answer let me know, I can provide a report dxdiag etc.

Thanks to all who can help out me!

If Windows XP product key is an OEM version, then it will activate not on another computer.

  • OEM Windows 7 installation on another computer after the first dead

I recently bought a laptop computer without an operating system, and the seller I sold separately an OEM Windows 7 Professional version. I installed and activated this version of Windows. I must return this laptop because I was not satisfied with it. The seller will refund me the price of the laptop, but not Windows. Can I use this version of Windows, or do I have to just eat the cost?

OEM cannot be moved to a new computer. You will need to buy another copy to install Windows on another computer.

Can move you to a new Windows 7 computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own XP/Vista license qualification). The previous installation of Windows 7 on the old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer. The key works with 32 and 64 bit, but can only be installed at a time.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

  • How to use the shutdown command to stop another computer?

I just saw the setting-m to the shutdown command and decided to give it a whirl. However, when I pointed out the computer in question, I received a message that "a required privilege is not owned by the customer.

Sometimes, I like reading or watching streaming video on Hulu on the laptop while lying in bed, and sometimes I play music if do the first, which is stored in the form of MP3 files on the desktop (which I access via a share). Be able to turn the office without getting up would be nice, but you do not get this option with Remote Desktop.

Both machines have unprivileged called 'Slick' on them local accounts that are my accounts on the day the main day. I have a different admin account, but I only use it as needed and use runas as often I log in fact.

What should I do to get the following to work? In spite of the passing the MCSA Exam, I never learned about this feature, so I'm not sure what I should do to make it work? It'll work on a workgroup or is it only for domains? While I could set up a domain with the copy of the server I got from Dreamspark, I really didn't need one.

As a general rule, you must have administrative privileges on the remote computer to shut down this computer.  Given that both computers have XP Pro, you are halfway there (remote users always authenticate as 'Guest' on XP Home).  The computer that you are trying to close must have "Simple file sharing" disabled because otherwise you can not authenticate to this computer as anything except the user "guest".  So try to disable Simple file sharing, make sure that your user name and password are the same on both computers and make sure you have administrative privileges on the remote computer, and then you can stop the machine with the command "shutdown".

"How to disable the file sharing simple and how to set permissions on a shared folder in Windows XP"

In fact, it's easier to use the remote desktop.  Even if you do not have a "Shutdown" option in the start menu, you can always open a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd") and enter the command:
    stop s f t 35
This will give you 35 seconds to logoff this computer before its judgment (assuming that you have administrator privileges).

You can also look in the command "psshutdown' of the PSTools Suite

  • Can I transfer my OEM license on another computer and throwing away the old pc?

I have 2 old PC without any hardware in them with the product key OEM on top. I want to be legal even with not having not the money to keep buying more licenses just to stay legal. I transfer these keys on my computer principal in VMS (Virtual Machines) and used to test and evaluate and be legal or licensing die with these computers? If they do not die with these computers, just buy equipment for computers to bring back to life? I want that some virtual machines to evaluate/test/etc. Also, I believe I read that even installing the same licenses on computer 2 times (partitions) is illegal? How can this be good? If this is true, then, no wonder that Microsoft makes so much money and it goes so hacking on. Hello

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.
