I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 on my Gateway MT6828 Vista Home Premium.

I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Beta, which showed that everything was OK except for the following: "Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller.  An update is needed to make this compatible with Windows 7 device. I have not been able to find a driver anywhere on the Gateway Web site.  Anyone have any ideas?

Most likely if there is no update of the gateway there is no update from anyone else.  You can try a Bing search or Google for updated drivers but these kinds of searches are often fruitless, and lead to questionable web sites.

  • Windows Update that affect Internet for Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 connectivity

Hi, I have two machines in one desktop running Vista Home Premium and a laptop running under windows 7.

After you apply the Windows updates a few days ago, I was not able to get internet connectivity using my Vista desktop computer.

I was able to get a wireless on the Windows 7 machine, but to test the router I disabled wireless and tried a wired connection and it did not work.

If I restore the installation of updates on both machines before the problem no longer exists, but it is clearly not a solution.

Can someone please help, note that I have established that the router works and all the cables are OK. Thank you.

I had a very similar experience. See the thread I posted and a solution I found:

    Here is the Vista Forums.

You have to boot from the Windows 7 disc to do a clean install.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    Hi RDougShelton,

Step 1: This problem occurs if the Windows Media Center update process (Mcupdate.exe) cannot access the Windows Media Center data store. You may experience this problem if the data store is corrupted. So, try to rebuild the Media Center data store. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.
    b. remove the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:
    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB
    c. Click Start, run type, and then click Run.
    (d) in the Open box, type % systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome, and then click OK.
    e. in the details, click pane right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click on remove.
    f. click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.
    g. launch Windows Media Center and check if the problem persists.

Step 2: Scanner of sfc (System File Checker) to find and difficulty of the missing or corrupt system files
