I receive email spam from my yahoo email account contacts. Am I at risk of being hacked too?

I get spam from my gmail contacts 2. One grandson, with a yahoo email account. Another, ' name sent on ", on account of yahoo from a friend of the family. There is no topic and no content in these emails, just a link to click on. I clicked on the first link sent my grandson. The first time, my search engine, Mozilla Firefox, would not lead the link. So 6 or so, he led to a site advertising Viagra. Quickly, I broke the link. I have not clicked on the link in his second e-mail "not applicable". But I sent him a separate email, asking him why he was sending these. Then today I received another one of those spam e-mails from the friend of the family (which had not sent us more than 2 years) and was immediately suspicious.

It is obvious to me now that these two people have had their email accounts hijacked. Am I at risk of also taken hostage? My only security is Microsoft Security Essentials. It will be enough? Or I have to download Malwarebytes and perform a scan in safe mode, etc. ?

Thank you for any answers you can provide.

Hello

1st thing to do is to warn them that their yahoo accounts have been compromised; You can call if necessary if they are not replying to emails on your part

and also tell them to change their email Yahoo password

___________________________________________________________

and for you to be on the safe side, do a scan.

Download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

You can also download and run rkill to stop the process of problem before you download and scan with malwarebytes

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

Windows Vista

Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Use a message rule.

    Where the line contains people
Delete it and stop processing more rules (or remove it from the server)
Click on People contains and add the domain. Ex: yahoo.com.

  • iOS 9.2.1 receive emails from yahoo

Shortly after the installation of ios 9.2.1 my iPhone more than 6 cannot receive emails from yahoo. (Before that it worked very well for over a year.) My gmail works fine. I called Apple and they don't have any idea. They told me to back up my phone and the restoration and that had no effect. I did three times and lost half of my apps when it restored and still my yahoo doesn't the phone app.

I had download the YAHOO APP for it to receive email in the yahoo only application. Please help I worked on it for 3 days while I'm snowed in by JONAS of BLIZZARD in New Jersey. Thank you.

I am also have the same problem after I updated ios 9.2.1. Yahoo Mail is not working.

  • Suddenly I can't receive emails from a particular address on one of the three e-mail accounts that I have on Thunderbird.

These emails come from a non-response address, and I get quite a number on a daily basis, so I was wondering if Thunderbird has a sort of virus protection that prevents me to receive. They won't in the junk mail folders or spam folders. I checked with HER on the Web site that sends these emails, and they said that everything was going well at their end. It shows emails through. However, I could not receive even their test sent from their account message no answer. BUT when they sent from another account, it came through fine. So the problem seems to be with my receipt of messages from addresses no answer. This began to happen on December 14.

I thought maybe it's something in my antivirus software, which is something called Symantec Endpoint Protection (provided by my employer), so I tried also the implementation of all the email accounts three on another computer. This serves as my Thunderbird email software but has another antivirus (Avast free) program, but I'm having the same problem.

Finally, I tried bypassing Thunderbird by accessing my three email accounts from the web. Still not received the mails no reply. Would it be to say that Firefox is also involved?

Obviously, * something * on both my think computers these emails 'no response' are spam or virus even. (Yet, I get spam every day a lot of other sites, go figure!) The only thing that the two computers have in common is Thunderbird and Firefox. The computer, I tap on the Windows XP Home with service pack 3 rums. The other computer running Windows7 Home.

My last effort would move to Outlook from M$, and I really don't want to do that! Can anyone of you offer any help? I'm sorry that I'm not a geek and cannot re - program anything, but I will try very hard to understand what you're saying.

    Thank you in advance.

    Susan

It is between the sender and your Inbox. That's all you can say. Your provider should be able to track your account and see if the message comes from their server.

Thunderbird is a software email client. It runs on your computer and helps you manage your e-mail. It can not download messages that do not in your Inbox on your server vendors.

  • My Yahoo email account is sending spam.

Tango app - a free video call or spam free email

I just download Tango app in my new iPhone 4S yesterday. This morning, got a lot of people in my work outlook address contact E-mail spam email from my yahoo (no e-mail address of Tango) email I never sent invitation to their e-mail address to ask them to join. I sent e-mail to 1 single contact in my email yahoo, outlook not ask to join Tango so I called him. Seriously, Tango has to implement certain anti-spam in my iPhone and trigger a cascade of spam email send to everyone in my outlook contacts.

So beware of anyone, before you sign for Tango, you should prepare for your e-mail account was used as the sender of spam e-mail.

You posted on a forum for users of Microsoft Security Essentials.

There's no place to really move your message so that your problem is with a program 3rd party on a phone from Apple. It has nothing to do with Windows, Office, Windows Phone, etc.

On the other hand, apparently you have provided access during installation, accept the default option, which gives the application access to your address book.

  • My email account private not send/receive/to hotmail accounts - I think is marked as spam!

My email address is validated with a third-party domain provider and I use Outlook Express for some years.

Recently, I send emails to my clients to contact most those who are account hotmail; When I ask them about the information I sent them, they say that no email received from me!

A few times, I have scored between 25 and 50 accounts selectively my contacts, send them information about the products and associated,

based on that, I think that my account (* address email is removed from the privacy *) is marked as Spam and I need my account back free... I don't write text harmful or malicious. Tech from my provider field tell me, this is the reason why my account has this issue.

I need microsoft help technical to provide my account and solve that, if this is the case.
    Thank you in advance.

  • I can only receive emails and send not so far from home

    Split of: " ", "http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/thread/a424e146-1a2f-4133-80d5-db98f08f5421"" "

Currently, I use Windows Vista and access my email using Windows Mail.  When I am connected to my internet router 'House', I can send and receive emails, absolutely perfect.  When I am away from home and try to connect to an internet router to the hotel (with a key) or internet router to friends (with a key), I can only receive emails and not send.  I get the error message is: the connection to the server has failed.  He then mentions the details into account, server, Protocol, Port and secure (SSL) followed by the Socket error: 10060 and the error number: 0x800CCC0E.  Anyone know why I have a problem when I'm away from home?  Any help much appreciated.

Looks like you are running in a block of 25 port. What you experienced is normal. As a general rule, the owner of port 25 SMTP server you use must be the same as the entity that provides your Internet connection at the moment. To learn more about this issue, see anti-spam

The workarounds available when sending abroad are the following:

    1. use webmail to send (via your browser).
    2. ask your ISP if they have one port other than '25' for SMTP.
    3. If you frequently send multiple locations, get free Gmail account, configure it for POP access, set up in Windows Mail and use it to
your shipment of household chores. Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked as is port 25.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones deleted Yahoo Messenger BB 8900 but continues to receive emails

    Hello

I am trying to remove the my BB8900 yahoo Messenger but I still get emails.

What I've done so far, it was go in the list of applications and check if there is a line mensioning Yahoo. It wasn't, so I was already wondering how to remove it. On the internet, I found that I have to remove the service I did! (Do not remember well, but I think that there are two lines to remove.)

Problem is that I have always received emails, send to my yahoo on my blackberry account.

This morning entered the list of the modules and deleted the YHO BBS2 (or something like that)

At out the battery and restarted 1 minute later... guess what still emails on my blackberry?

    This is getting crazy!

There is probably another somwhere line that needs to be deleted... but where?

    Thank you

    Mario

From 01/05/14, I can no longer receive emails from my default account in Thunderbird. I have other computers that use Windows Live Mail who receive emails, and can I get them on my cell phone. I checked my settings, and nothing has changed. I recently sent me one email from another account, and it didn't happen either.

Make sure Thunderbird is authorised by your personal firewall.
