If you did an upgrade and not a clean install, they must remain on your drive. Do a search of *.jpg, *.jpeg and see what you get. If I remember correctly, you will have a folder windows.old that they appear in. You can use Windows Explorer if you want to look in your records in the Windows.Old directory.

I hope this helps.

  • How can you have Windows XP and Vista operating system on the same computer?

I am new to the community.

I just ordered a XPS420.  The guy who took my order said he had heard of having two operating systems (XP and Vista) on a single computer and be able to choose the one that you want to use the start.  Someone at - he heard of this being done or done. I have a legal version of Windows XP home edition disk.

I ask this because the computer that my children no longer have work and they have a lot of older games for XP, they still love to play. My only alternative is to use XP only if I can reformat the system.

  • My hard drive died with my Vista operating system. How can I get my o/s on another hard drive.

Just need to get my paid, back of the Vista.

    Hello

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • can I install windows 98 on my pc from vista operating system?

have new pc with any word program, use win 98 cd from old pc to add the word to the new pc.  Will it work?  New basic family a of Windows Vista with service pack 2

I doubt it. Windows 98 had no support for sata drives and I doubt that you could buy a sata controller that would support Windows 98. Pouvez get Windows 98 set in place with a pata drive but your material is probably not a pata controller, and even if that were the case you would probably go to other obstacles.

In any case Windows 98 provides no word as part of its installation. Word is an Office, not a component part of Windows.

Not to mention the possible legal consequences if it is an oem Windows 98.

  • I'm starting to see the error message js / ff_browser:203 that appear. It is random. It is a PC with Windows 7, 64 bit and firefox 7.01. the only recent change is a download of an update to Java. is there an easy way to fix it?

as explained in the question, this is an instance of the ransom and requires me to click on "continue" or "quit". Select 'continue' just seems to allow firefox to do what I wanted to do.

I am running windows 7 Professional 64 bit and Firefox 7.01.

    Probably caused by an add-on.

What is the rest of this message chrome://...js/ff_browser:203 ?

Tell us of what Add - it is involved.

Otherwise, you can do some troubleshooting to find out the cause.

  • I was wondering if there is a way to buy a key product for vista, but not using a credit card or paypal?

I am buying a product key for Vista Edition basic family.  I have a CD, but the product key is used that I use another laptop with vista running.  The CD provided with my old laptop.  I understand that microsoft doesn't sell vista, but I've been looking online and I don't want to pay with paypal (I don't have an account set up) and I don't have a credit card.  Any suggestion would be great!

Please note that Windows Vista Home Basic OEM only distributed. If your copy has come pre-installed, then the product key should be in the certificate of Authenticity label. In addition, please note that these copies are not transferable, nor can you get another product key if you still have the old one running.

You can buy a new product key or contact the Microsoft Customer Service for more options.

  • Upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista unregistered (long story there)

Hello!  I hope someone can help me.  I don't know if I'm in the right place.  I bought a computer HP 9005 XP about 2 years ago.  He constantly reminded and back for the service.

The last time I sent it in for service they had installed a Vista motherboard into in (keep in mind the 9005 is a XP).  One day it just wouldn't run more, so rather than send new AGAIN fourth time) at HP I took it to a store office supplies nationwide, which also makes computer repair.

For weeks, they have worked on the problem and could not understand what was wrong.  I have F-Secure so there is no worms, viruses, Trojans, etc.  FINALLY, they took that part and discovered that HP has installed a motherboard Vista inside which, as you know, is not compatible with XP hard drives, controllers, etc.

Because Vista and XP are incompatible, they also installed a version of Vista.  A big big glitch. I have now discovered that the Vista Software "is not a legal version" and I keep on gettting messages from MicroSoft.

I ordered a new computer customized HP which has 7 top (if it works anything like Vista just call me crazy... it's still in the box).

NOW for my question.  , I want to buy the 'UPGRADE' to 7 for the dv9005 computer but do not know if he will be executed and, of course, once you open the box you cannot return the software.  The 'upgrade' to 7 is around $90 - $119 depending on where you buy it.  The full version is almost as much as a new computer and I paid about $1,500 for a new one.   I'm not paying penny #1 for a legal Vista upgrade.   The upgrade, as I said, is already here.  It is simply not registrable.

I'll be able to put the 7 in addition to this upgrade (dv9005 with the)
software for illegal/temporary Vista) or he's going to run to the mega-snags?
I HATE VISTA so bad... it's like h * to use.

Once again, question is, can I buy and write about the "unauthorized" copying Vista?

    Thank you

    Karen

"TuffKitten" wrote in message News: 4ae3f00f-89e8-4a27-b021-c3a7b7ff8b80...

Please, Carey, to pay attention to my cry for help.

I refined my original question with the right terminology and relevance in bold.  I appreciate your making it clear that I was not going to clear.  Looking back, I saw where I was everywhere in the "Council" here.  I've got 5 HP puters from MS98 to still to be installed the new 7 MS (this is the dv7 which is still sitting comfortably in its shipping box).

I have myself not clear and I'm sorry.   I have not yet taken 7 out of the box yet.  It's the dv9005 that got all screwed up.  I REFINED MY QUESTION... Thanks for letting me know that my question was not clear.  I refined my post to make it more clear that I want to talk about the dv9005 who began his life as a XPa and is now a temporary Vista (temporary, I mean the software is something that the repair service put in and it is now for me to buy legal and good software required.)

Is the one I want to know if I'm having problems putting 7 on top of the "temporary or illegal (call it what you like) ' program Vista on theHP DV9005, who began his life as a normal XP (old times!... normal puters to halfway!)

Thank you for paying attention to my question, but I apparently did not say my question correctly.

Again, it is the dv9005 that HAD XP on it, HP changed the motherboard to motherboard Vista and after that the computer was toast because Vista motherboards are not

compatible with XP is then the computer had to be rebuilt to essentially.

The Vista software that was put in is not a "legal" copy  I learned this today.  It is where is my concern.

I want to install Windows 7 on Vista but if Vista is not a legal copy, I'm afraid to spend $$$ on the upgrade because you can't return opened software and I wouldn't pay a thin to a computer Vista, not to mention penny of Vista software just if I can upgrade to 7 legally.

I HATE Vista and this computer is USELESS for me with Vista inside.

    Thanks again.

First thing to do is to visit the HP website and determine if there are drivers for the current material - you must also run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
Note that if your current installation is not valid, you need to do a clean install of Windows 7, you use a full commercial license. This will destroy all information on the drive - but back first!

Also note that your computer is probably still a license for the original operating system - XP, and you should be able to persuade the HP to provide an appropriate set of disks so that, assuming that the motherboard supports XP.

Other than that, it is possible that the installation of Vista is not 'illegal' - just a bit borked. To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag (download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 ) tool
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.
To copy the report in your response, click the button copy in the tool (ignore the error at this stage), and then paste (using r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your response.

  • Software Numark Cue crash or gel to the top after I've upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista-Help!

I do experience intermittent freezing or the software simply disappears into the Office of many laptops! Just recently went through an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. If I try to solve the problem of compatibility with Vista, SP1 or SP2 settings it shows that the program is not compatible. Is there a problem known with Numark, regarding Windows 7 or 64-bit... or a patch that I can download... anyone knows? BTW, when the software has been reinstalled it could work properly for months and then the experience of these questions!

    Thank you, Kathy

The Numark Support site, I found the following page where you can upgrade to the latest version: http://www.numark.com/cueupdate

  • What is the best operating system to upgrade from Vista? Should I buy Windows 7, 8 or 8.1?

I have Vista 32 bit Home Premium. It does not support Windows Mail.Which is the best operating system to upgrade from Vista? Should I buy Windows 7, 8 or 8.1? I do not have a touch screen system, my system is five years old.

    Original title: upgrade

    Hello WilliamPopat,

If you want to buy an another operating system, you would do better to buy the latest version, i.e., Windows 8.1 it doesn't matter that you don't have a touch screen like Windows 8.1 will work just as well on a desktop PC / laptop normal.

However, before rushing and buying a copy of Windows 8.1, I suggest that you look at this link http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/11885-windows-8-upgrade-assistant-download-run.html the link above shows Windows 8 Upgrade Wizard you can download (free) and allows you to check that your PC is compatible with the latest version of Windows.

According to me, one of my office machines is around 5 or 6 years and Windows 8/8.1 works fine on it.  However, it is best to check your own machine with the wizard upgrade just in case.
