I think I have been hacked/got a virus!

Well, I know it's stupid, but I was testing a certain file to see if it contained malware, so I downloaded. My anti-virus (MSE) program and my backup (malwarebytes) both detected nothing. It does not detect anything, but now I get this subscription popup for a _ site / free webcam and it won't go away (if I X out of it he comes right back up in a new window).

EDIT: Malwarebytes just stopped working in the middle of a scan!

Can someone help me?

Windows Vista

Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode

All my computers have been hacked. By whom I know not, or why. I was confused at first because at the beginning I had no internet connection. I started learning network. But my knowledge is little and I'm floundering trying to get the registered on my PC. I thought I was doing a little progress when I discovered 'they' had installed a network device, called Service of Publication of Microsoft. I have not given permission to ANYONE to access my computers. I feel violated that someone can do that easily. Is there any place that I can tell you this? How do I control my PC again? I'm waiting to do this, after all is fixed incase I am able to prosecute and use them as evidence. In one day the Inspiron has been compromised. I was able to get my HP and going, trying to do what I can, but then this MICROSOFT DEVICE has been installed, without my consent.  I understand why this product is useful for the most part, but why is it so easy for someone to install it without consent? Hello Matysh,

In addition to the information already provided, I add some guidelines that might help with your question.

    1) go into user accounts on your computer. You can have administrator and standard accounts listed. Make sure that you have an administrator account that you created and change the password if you are the only person who knows the password.
Then, remove all the accounts that you are not familiar with or don't want on your computer. Do not remove a network Service or Local Service account.

    (2) right click on the taskbar and open the tasks to the top manager. Go to the users tab. There you can see if there are other users logged on to your computer. If you are not familiar with users, select the account and disconnect the user.

    (3) get your computer course before you go out on the internet.
If you use wireless, make sure that you use the most secure authentication type.
Change the passwords on routers as most ships with a password. Change the router password so that no one else has the password. Check with the documentation for the router on how to change your password.

    (4) use the antivirus and malware information and make sure that your computer is free of viruses and malware before connect you to the internet.

    I hope this helps.

  • I have been hacked.

    Preliminary remarks:

I'm not expert ESXi. I put the server to tinker.  I'm a Windows Guy.

Is not a production company, but it's in a hardened environment.

No one else has physical access or remote (so I thought) for this box.

It is not on the internet.

root password was not in dictionaries.

What I want to know is:

    I was really hacked?

Should what records I look?  (SSH is not on BTW)

    Without SSH how to newspapers?

    Facts:

My Console now just says "Hey!"

    esx1.JPG

    Nothing seems to be deleted.

I can't do anything from the console. Root... still says Hey.

I can use the vSphere client.

I've changed the root password and shut down all systems that I got to the top.  I guess one of the virtual machine has been compromised, and that's how the hacker (if this is the case) has got access to the internal network (reverse telnet or something). It is a segment of firewall and there is nothing sent to this system from the Internet.

    Information on the post:

I am posting this as a learning experience for me and others. I do not know I did something stupid. I was going to just to rebuild the system (will do this anyway), but that this network has nothing of value that I didn't destroy all newspapers, I can learn from.  I got lucky... It is just a test lab.

    Welcome to the community,

don't worry, you have not been hacked. What you see, is the "Annotations.WelcomeMessage" which can by configured in "Configuration"-> "Advanced settings".

  • My computer could have been hacked by Microsoft Technician via remote assistance?

Last week I contact Microsoft support about a problem that I had and the technician said it needs access to my computer by the remote assistant in order to solve the problem.  I asked if he could direct me and let do me it myself but he said no, it must be connected by remote assistance.  As he'd download it told me it would take a while and he could not stay on the phone with me because he could help other customers in the meantime and said he'd call me when the download is complete.  He did call back me and was able to solve my problem.

However shortly after my computer has been hacked and I am wondering if it is just a coincidence or could it have downloaded information from my computer.  Should I have allowed him access to remote assistance.  I am very worried.

    Your help would be appreciated

    Hello

A Microsoft Support Engineer remote assistance is normal. If you have any other questions, maybe contact the representative of the technical support that helped you.

  • Could have been hacked.  Guy got in the Terminal

Hello.  Dear old dad, 81, called what he had thought was Netflix... it wasn't.  My gut tells me that this is a fraudulent site.  CreticWorld.com

The deal was this: the 'helper' find stuff very bad on the site of my father and offered to fix it for $400.  I imagine that they are preparing to ask on his credit card to pay for it.

The "helper" had my father to connect through a kind of thing LOGMEIN.

    There send my father.

I don't THINK that there ID apple of my father or master password for the computer.

I ran Malwarebites Anti Malware app... He found nothing.

There is no "updates" in the app store.

    10.10.5 MacbookPro system

I will paste the report between the terminals below.  In the end, he has a few scary phrases like

    • Email compromised

    • Worm found

    • compromised network

    But... There's a funky spelling.

    1. advice?  I am panic that my dad's computer is hacked, and they will get its passwords, bank accounts, credit cards, etc.

    2. what would you do?

    3. grateful for any advice.

Pasted below is the Terminal Server session.  I don't know if it's true, if it is stuck in the terminal of dad to freak him out?  You can if the Terminal Server Session is real?  What this means?  No idea if it is valid and hope a pro Terminal would give him a glance.

Wipe the HARD drive and reinstall the OS x.  If you have the time Machine, you can reinstall everything using an installation date before the intrusion.

  • All of my accounts have been hacked.

Original title: ID thief disabled help devices on Neopets, Facebook & Yahoo answers in order to get money from me

I dealt with a problem lately, Friday, NP was stolen from my Neopets account and the site claimed I had contributed to the maximum my challenge scores when I had not yet played ONCE so far, fortunately, later, it was fixed. However, when I contacted the Neopets support center, they told me that my email address is invalid.

The thief of ID Michael attempted to block my Facebook News feed so that he could isolate me from my contacts, when he finally decided to commit a crime against me. When I tried to access the site to help FACEBOOK, I received a similar message, there was a wrong spelling no matter how I typed in my application. One last thing happened on Sunday, I tried to expand a question about this criminal, the Edit bar had been removed, so I couldn't do that.

What can I do if it uses the information he got to hack my computer to steal me & my family? My grandmother has a lot of money, my mother also has an RRSP set up for me, I'm afraid that he will use what it is on my machine to understand the passwords and empty my family of our finances.

Reformat and reinstall Windows on the computer. Change all passwords to everything that you have strong passwords. Contact your bank immediately to cancel credit cards and reissue as well as for the account bank number has changed.

  • computer may have been hacked. I have 2 eponymous profiles and one is status = backup

I tried to use the following text:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/555473

The problem is when I search for the profile I want to copy, there are 2 profiles with the same name. We have the following text:

Size = 24 MB Type = Local status = modified backup = 1/17 (several days ago)

    The other reads as follows:

Size = 4 MB Type = Local status = changed Temp = 1/20 (current date)

When I created a new Admin profile and tried to copy the profile (24 MB) more GREAT in the new Admin profile, I get an error of copy... something to do with the cyclic redundancy check.

While I would not lose the files on my machine, if I have to I will eradicate the disk and reinstall everything... even though I would have preferred to be able to get the largest profile off backup status so I can get it all back.

    Help?

    Hello

What is the full error message that you receive?

    (a) you can run a check disk full on your machine.

For more information, please visit this link: How to perform disk error in Windows XP check

    (b) thereafter, try to copy the data from the old account to the new account.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

    Hello

    1. who is the provider of e-mail for example Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo services?
2 you get an error message when trying to connect to your e-mail account?

Whenever you have problems connecting to the email address, it is recommended to contact the provider of e-mail for the best support options.
For example, if you use Hotmail service and are not able to log in the user id, you can check this link for troubleshooting steps: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316659

    I hope this helps.

  • What should I do if I think I have been scammed?

I heard that I won a prize, but no matter how I try to claim that it he told me that I need to check ny email that they sent to me, but no email was sent. I tried 3 times and no still no e-mail. What should I do?

    Hello

This looks a lot like someone, or trying to rip you off by getting personal information that could be used to defraud you.

If you've spent money or bank details for these people, I highly recommend you immediately contact the relevant law enforcement service for your competence and your credit card provider / Bank.

I do not know what details you gave them, but you should be very careful with any email you receive or change your e-mail address. The same with any phone number or other contact details you have given.

I don't know what legal jurisdiction, you are in, but I recommend to have a read of this site of the British Government with focus on identity theft.

Regarding Firefox and your computer, I recommend that walk you through this article and make sure your operating system and security software is up-to-date and switched to decisions.
