  WhiteSmoke downloaded without prompting and took control of my Firefox. Tried all procedures and seemed to have disabled and then deleted, rebooted and reinstalled FF but it's still there! It has not affected the OE then unless I get don't get rid of my FF contamination its no FF for me. Any suggestions to save FF? Tom

  I went in tools, and then click modules, and then to WhiteSomke and clicked on delete.
  It worked for me.

  Follow these instructions to fix the Windows Firewall:
  Download and install repair Windows:

  When the repair of Windows opens, click on the tab to start repairs, click Start. Unselect all the boxes except for the following:
  -Reset the registry permissions
  -Reset the permissions of files
  -WMI repair

• I guess it's a matter of "settings". I tried all the fixes you suggest to get rid of the window "Firefox has been recently updated" popping up as my home page. Another thing to try.

  My normal homepage is no longer happens when I start navigating. Your introductory page rises and remains standing, so to ask me a question about allowing to collect information.

  Which probably won't help if you have other programs running which is to protect the files in the Firefox profile folder.

  You can try to start windows in save mode (F8 at the startup screen) to see if this helps to remove the file.

  You can also try a new profile to see if it works.
