Since it is a forum of number, not many people here can see that you have a serial number. Running older software on the latest machines is always questionable. There are many applications, I sitting on discs (some 3.5 or 5 inch disks) in a box that won't do anymore of that for the rest of their lives.
If the disk has a problem then you should try to download instead.

I am trying to install the trial version of CS5.5 for my Surface Pro running Windows 8 Professional 64-bit.
The installation fails completely for all components.
No product other than Flash Adobe Player and Reader have already been installed on this computer before.
I have no security software installed at all.
According to the results of google, I have already tried:
-installation in safe mode
-Run the windows system File Checker to make sure that Windows Installer is the work (it didn't report any problems)
-settting to the lowest setting user account control

I'll post my findings for anyone else has similar problems.
-L'article that Ned Murphy link above does not contain instructions for Windows 8. Instructions for Windows 7 is recommended to run the "sfc/scannow" command on the command line. However, the sfc/scannow does not quite as well in Windows 8 as in Windows 7. For me personally, he got 100% full within 10 minutes and then remained 100% full for several hours without actually ending. One could be forgiven for thinking he was finished after sitting at 100% full two hours and close the command prompt window. But don't do that. After about four hours, the order finally completed and informed me that she was unable to repair Windows Installer.

Just paste the folder of the program without installing it.
D ' a surprising way, which seems to have worked, even if the original installation was Windows XP. I guess it would also work if it had been installed to Windows Vista or Windows 7.
-The only big problem so far, I've noticed is that Photoshop can not detect my video card settings, and therefore enabling OpenGL drawing in the performance of the program preferences tab it causes crashing. It's not bad for me because I can just disable OpenGL drawing (and program does so automatically when it opens and displays a warning message).

So when you put the disk in it does not work properly? When the disc is inserted, you should have a window pop up with 2 options. 1. install and another to see what is on the disk. Choose to open the disc or explore. Navigate to the folder where is the photoshop CS4 .exe file (which runs the Setup program), right-click on the .exe file and choose Run as administrator and it should start. See if it will install. If this isn't the case, then read below.
I don't know how long you got in the installation until so chances are, you will need to run the CS4 Cleanup utility. 2 levels to run but do not use 1 or 2 just type number 3.

Before you try to reinstall the software make sure that adobe reader is not installed. If it is delete. It has caused problems in the past with vista and CS4 installs.
You can also disable windows Defender and all antivirus software. You can keep UAC Windows 7.
When installing CS4 to 90 percent, it stops almost and may take 5 to 10 minutes at the end. It's normal. What a pain huh...
After the installation is complete, restart
After restarting, go to the icon of CS4 64-bit or 32-bit (depends on 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7) in the starting area, right-click on CS4 64-bit (if you have windows 7 64 bit), and then choose Properties, Compatibility tab, and then check run as administrator at the lower part. Hit apply, ok to finish.
Now, run CS4 and run the update.
