  It's a question of how the recipients e-mail programs deal with attachments. Many e-mail programs will open all the files they can handle, including files jpg and PDF, by default, and if the recipient has not changed that there is nothing you can do about it. The only solution is to the compress first, then it will be delivered as an attachment, allowing the recipient to decompress and open it.

  You don't need a script for this, you can use a Grep search/replace.

  Search: (.) $

  and set your paragraph style in the format of find

  Change: $1XYZ

  where XYZ is the text you want to insert.

  As I (put) understand, it becomes clear and sweet, you can (lock a copy of the original in place letter so that you can compare), smart guides are your friends:

  (1) for each of the segments of the path side closest to the end corner Anchor Points, click with the direct Selection tool to see the handles, then with the line Segment tool ClickDrag of the handle of the mooring Point (Smart Guides say Manage and anchor when you are away from the alignment), and then give the new line, a thin related (so you can see) and no fill;

  (2) deselect, then to the side you want to start, with the ClickDrag of (normal) selection tool the new line 1) from the end of the handle (anchor Point) to align on the anchor corner of the letter;

  (3) to lock the two new lines;

  (4) to the side you want to start, with the pen tool ClickDrag from the Point of departure angle of the letter to the opposite end of the anchor of the new line anchor (Smart Guides say anchor when you are away from the alignment), and then draw the swoosh, as you would normally, then finally the anchoring of end corner of the letter ClickDrag the opposite end anchor of the new line;

  (5) with the (normal) selection tool, select the swoosh and the letter and Pathfinder > unite;

  (6) unlock and remove (or hide) the new lines of 1).

  That should give you accurate and smooth transitions at the end of the letter. You can remove whataver is not necessary when it is convenient.
