I want to back up files on my hard drive of diving, how do you do that?

You can use a hard drive, but it is not the drive on which the system or the boot is running.  If you have a second drive in your system that contains system information or startup, you can use this disk for backups.  The wizard backs up (Start / Control Panel / backup and restore) will guide you through the process and provide you with the options you can choose to send the information - which should include this disc hard if it meets the requirements more fully covered in the following article.

Here's a FAQ on the backup and restore that can be useful to some of your questions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-and-restore-frequently-asked-questions.

  • I want to move the folder Program Files to another hard drive.

I have Windows 7 installed on a small primary partition on one of the two hard drives, double boot with Windows XP.  My installation of Windows XP is on a smaller primary partition (like Windows 7) and Program Files folder on a separate drive logic in an extended partition, not on the system drive.  I want to make a folder Program Files of Windows 7 on the same logical drive, Program Files and move the Program Files from Windows 7 folder to that partition on the second hard drive.

Just an update.  I finally managed to move 'Users' on a separate partition, so my installation of Windows 7 now has Windows on a partition, the files program on a logical drive in an extended partition, and users on a separate logic in this extended partition.

On the Windows partition, there are junctions that point to the logical drive Program Files and the logical drive of users and editing the registry to set these default locations.  Windows updates proceed normally and successfully.  Program facilities smoothly and work as expected.  I'll post my procedures on my site, I hope that in the near future, after that I tested and confirmed their on my other Windows 7 machines.

Be forewarned, however, that this separation will break the ability to repair/reinstall (upgrade on-site) Windows 7.  It will stop when he sees that Program Files not are not on the system partition.  However, in my particular case, I depend on third-party software disk for backup, Imaging for the loss of this functionality (repair/reinstall) has no real interest for me.  Restore a disk image is much faster.

There are other methods posted on the net to separate these main divisions of Windows during the installation. My methods are intended to guide differently to an existing facility while retaining all the features.  And once again, as shown in this thread, Microsoft Support seems to discourage that kind of thing.

  • Backup of files filled my D drive. Now what?

However, it filled my disk (d :)) then said that failing because it doesn't have enough space to save all of my files.) Now I get messages that there is no more space on my drive (d :)).  I read the other questions and answers, but solutions might as well be written in Greek, because I don't know anything about computers and have no idea what they are talking about.  Is it possible to cancel the backup?  I use my computer for games, Internet, & email. • Comment to recover missing components after having moved from "Adobe" from program files and program files on another hard drive internal?

    Hello

I know that the title is long, but I'll try to be clear. I am currently working a lot on Premiere Pro CS6, since I else riding between movies and my drive Windows C is saturated. Jso got the real good idea to create an Adobe folder on one of my other internal drives and y 'cut and paste' (the thing never to do...) "Adobe" from program files and program files, in order to address space. So I created a file Program Files and another program with them each in a subfolder 'Adobe'. Following this bad initiative, opening again my firstsoftware, you can imagine that I had several bugs no one telling me that it lacked components (obviously) and my renderings, which once on two resulted in a "the software has stopped Monday and needs to close" (trickier).

I have the coup d'etat switched back the folders on drive C (story of a little more drive the nail), the missing components error message no longer appears, however problems rendering and stop persistent software.  Knowing that about 15 GB is miraculously freed himself... not what is more difficult, but also probably explains the bugs...:)

My question is the following should I uninstall and reinstall (Creative suite) where there's a you it another solution pour everything in order? Knowing it will take anyway that my C drive is dé-sature a bit.

Thanking you sincerely pour your help, your guidance, your time.

You cannot move a folder from one drive to another program (as you know) because that destroys the links that the operating system must have in order to run a program

Disable this feature to unlock your serial number... Uninstall... Install fresh... also, the Adobe programs do not LIKE to install other drivers

Move the data files to another disk to free up space on your C drive

C drive space http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1007934?tstart=0 see answer 4 for the parameter that you must manually change... and then delete the old temporary files

    Hi John726,

Here's a similar post on this issue. Check if this may help you:
  • Backup of files in TimeMachine iCloud drive

I just above has migrated to a MacBook 12 '' Air of Macbook using Time Machine and noticed that my 2.4 GB of iCloud drive files are downloaded rather than migrating to the TimeMachine. This suggests that these files are not be saved locally, which is relative.

Is it true that Time Machine does not back up iCloud locally stored files?

Apparently, the files are backed up and stored in ~/library/mobile documents based on the following thread:

Does not save icloud to Time Machine when you create on a Mac

Indeed, I see my files in there, but I'm confused why these files have not been restored to the new machine and instead the entire library is to be re-uploaded. Fortunately, I had ~ 2 GB, but it would take hours for a larger library.

Does anyone know if it is possible to restore the Time Machine backup files and let the iCloud to update as needed? It would appear more sensible and more similar to other cloud solutions.

  • Add a file to another file without reading actually in memory.

    Hello

I want to add a file to another file without actually reading the first file in memory and writes at the end of the other file.

I mean it needs to be a way (for Windows of course) to do from a CPP code.

Just like the CreateLinkFile() API maps two file in the block internal memory, is it possible, an API that will card internal two files, one after the other, and that won't be visible in a single file from the outside to the user?

The client we work for requires that the two files should be merged into one without overloads of read/write file (Performance is the primary concern).

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

I am back. hankbuck here with the question after complete reinstall on HP desktop D4650E windows XP Pro sp3. Very grateful for the help recently and you want to make sure that now I want to reload the files from an external drive WD My Book I do without all the garbage that caused the system to be erased with the installation. All I want are the files I want without damaged etc. Is there a way to do this? I have 1 partition on my PC after reinstall if it helps. Thank you

    hankbuck

    Hello hankbuck,

It depends on what software you are using on the Western Digital. It seems quite a few different applications that Western Digital has and uses so to know what exact version can be beneficial.

No matter what version you use that should have the option to do a selective restore or progress however.

It is for example WD Backup app that works on some of my books
