I want to ban a remote content to a group of contacts
(V Tbird 38.3 / Win 8.1)
I get lots of emails from staff in a society that puts far too many images in each e-mail (contact information, logos, images of their headquarters, works, awards). It is not surprising that their spam folder is by far the most important of all my files. It of very tedious - and obscures the text of the message itself - and I want to block space.
Let's say that the domain name is abc - zxy.comand it remains fixed, but in fact they also send emails from xyzpq-abc, xyzmn-abc, abc-xyzfg, etc. where the last two letters appear to refer to groups or departments, or something and they sometimes change. In total, there are about 30 different people who send me messages.
Message filters work very well to redirect those messages in a folder and to be clear: I really * have the information contained in these messages!
I tried to add an Exception in tools-> Options-> privacy-> Mail content-> Exceptions contained remote, with the text
- @abc-xyz * and status "Block".
But it does not work. Messages are still mostly clutter, surrounding the actual communication.
Any advice, please?
In any case I've tagged this "Problem solved" and thanks again once.
Good. You can do it.
Thank you.

After a recent upgrade to version 31 the show contents button distance was replaced by a Preferences button. Instead of a simple click, I must now click the Preferences button, and then select display remote content. Two clicks vs. sucks one click. I want my back button and I don't always want to display the content. Why this change? I guess that there was a reason, but I don't like and I would like to change back if possible. Is it?
Thank you
DanneauxsHe changed a number of reasons. most obvious is that the address book is a bad place for a white list.
Secondly, this change allows enable you areas for images as well as e-mail addresses. given the ban is for security in the first place in that the source of the image is really more relevant than the e-mail anyway.
THUS, there is no I want my single click on the back button. It will not happen. When the new address book comes with the release of the year next (I hope) he will not support the option of white list at all so it won't even be an option of an add-on.

Hello, thank you for making a product especially big. My problem is quite simple. I do NOT wish to have the 'remote content' of my emails blocked at all. When I looked at the 'how' guide to find out how to set the parameters, he never mentioned WHERE is the 'TOOLS' button, then arrive at the privacy settings and to change setting by default I want to. Please help me to understand EXACTLY HOW the changes that I want to do. Thank you, AL
In the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Options > Privacy.
You can also use the menu bar main.
Tools (Alt - T) - Options - Privacy -
This "menu" was automatically appear. He stopped to show. I want to restore it. (Also, why he stopped showing?) A thought, I recently changed my setting re. accept cookies. Now I wonder every time if I allow or refuse them. Would that have something to do with the menu remote content stopping...?)
It looked like this:
Edit Remote preferences
allow remote content for xxx@xxx
always allow remote content to xxx@xxx
etc.The current version should display the following message with a remote content.
"In order to protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message.
There will also be an 'Options' button next to the message.
Click on the 'Options' button to get a drop down menu.- "Display remote content in this message.
- "Change the remote content options.."
- "Allow remote content to the e-mail address.
If Thunderbird still seems to be allowing remote content, check the settings:
Tools > Options > privacy
or
Menu icon > Options > Options > privacyUnder "Mail content.
Do not select the checkbox "allow remote content in messages.
She should not be selected by default.

How can I block a remote content after letting the remote content
There was no remote content - an email I thought I'd have a play around with the 'options' and then selected "allow remote content for...» "now, the option button has disappeared - but now I want to block the content then how to bring back this option so that the emails from this domain are not remote content?
I tried to look in the forum but have failed to find a solution to the problem. It was suggested to change the config file changes to the content of mail.trusteddomains-, but this was already empty.
I'm surprised that the option is available to remote content, but it "button" to select then disappears and there is no obvious route to the remote content of this domain/address blocking.
Try this:
"Tools" > "Options" > "Privacy".
OR
'Icon menu' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'private life '.It says "Content of Mail" at the top and on the right it's the 'Exceptions' button
Click 'Exceptions '.You should now be able to highlight the "site" then click on the button 'Remove Site'.
Then click on the close"" button.
Click "OK" to save and close the Options. -
No options display remote content message after update to Thunderbird version 31.0
Version of Thunderbird 31.0 updated via his usual auto update and now I can't see the remote content of new messages.
Through online searches I found references to the fact that the button "Display remote content" is now replaced by a new notification with a Preferences button bar to display remote content.
I have no problem with this change with the exception that I don't get this new bar notification and button, or the old, so I'm not able to get a message to load his remote content unless I have enable the privacy setting General to allow remote content that is far from what I want.
I also checked the setting of permissions.default.image through the configuration editor and it is set to 1.
I also found some search hits suggesting restart Thunderbird if this new notification bar is missing. I have restarted TB several times and even to download the Installer file for the version 31.0 and re-installed in this way and have also to restart my machine option remote message several times, but still not content.
Help, please.
If you have restarted with disabled modules? Help menu > restart with disabled modules.
V31 has significant changes in the UI and it could well cause problems in modules and themes that stable for years.

To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked a remote content to this message
To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked a remote content to this message
Whenever this happens, and it's almost every second e-mail, I have to go to "options, display remote content in this message.
I do not understand how Thunderbird will protect me by not showing is not the content in the email sent to me. The content that I can see just the same by going in "options, display remote content in this message" or one of the other options here.
I can't see the logic.

My emial was working fine yesterday morning and now my old messages in my Inbox and trash are unreadable. See her font size, margins, spacing of lines and some show tons of letters/numbers. They messages make no sense. I learned to uninstall thunderbird and reinstall, but usually I lose my contacts and all my messages/photos. He also says that to protect my privacy, thunderbird has blocked a remote content. This appears in the messages that I have received long - approved places. All thoughts
Before going to all this trouble, take a look at how you show the emails:
Discovers the body/message / original HTMLTools/options/privacy and allow remote content in messages
You can also give a list of senders who would be allowed or refused to show distance.

How to keep CCleaner remove Thunderbird 'allow remote content' whitelist?
The last time I ran CCleaner (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), he has deleted all my Thunderbird whitelist entries I would be put in place to allow a remote content.
Where is this white list stored, please?
For CCleaner v5.02.5101, here his menu items that can be cleaned:
a. Internet Cache
b. history of the Internet of
c. cookies
d. history of downloads
(e) session of
f. site preferences of
g. the saved form information
h. saved passwordsThank you very much!

It is the only impact I know. Used to be in your address book from the white list, but with the last version has been moved to the file prefs.js of preferences and is used as well as all the settings of your account.
I don't think that there is a migration as such as the white list database changed her e-mail address to the source of the image. Maybe it wasn't ccleaner but change in Thunderbird.

How do I ge the button 'Show remote content' in my incoming messages?
How can I get the button 'Show remote content' in my incoming messages?
Thank you.
Tess
Mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image controls all remote content.
I hope change permissions.default.image will make the button reappears.Note that the next version of Thunderbird should have a brand new remote content management system.

Display remote content to restored ldif address book
Some along the way when I created & export my address book as a file in LDIF, a lot of these links had the option to see the distance content checked. The list has grown the file been re-exported as LDIF to keep up-to-date
When I import the file to a profile, remote content box was reset. Needless to say that the list is growing the number of contacts to reset also.
Isn't checked by default for security reasons,
Setting stored in another file?
Is it possible to import this setting in tactNice extension.
Yep, that's definitely the option content remote allow - verified on a new profile with ONLY this extension installed.I have to have a play with the settings to see if its possible to have the name of the exported file remain the same on each export - I can see why having multiple names is a good idea in case one of them is corrupted
No idea why you have to restart Thunderbird to finish vs not on a ldif file importation?

I accidentally clicked on 'always allow a remote content' on a notification from paypal, but now all my emails from paypal are listed with the same name, even if they all actually different. The content of the email is the same thank godness, but this means that I can't find a name because they are all the same. help please. I need undo it. Thank you
Remove the entry from the address book for paypal. This is the always show the remote content is stored. Then allow an exception for paypal as described here http://kb.mozillazine.org/Privacy_basics_%28Thunderbird%29#Advanced using the configuration editor

The "issue" essentially lines the problem.
No distance shows content when the user clicks on the button "view remote content. Once it has been clicked on a specific email, if I go back to the same email, the button "display remote content" is not on the e-mail page and no remote content shows again in the body of the email.
I use an updated version (24.4.0) of Thunderbird. The problem is often caused by anti programs anti-virus and other security software blocking Thunderbird to get the remote images. The GET for images using a web port usually and some security software not see Thunderbird as a browser and block access.

(1) under address book, used for the book of MAC OS X, as well as the collected addresses and a third list, I can't remember.
Now it lists only MAC OS address book."(2) if I click on"Always allow remote content"it won't let me click on 'OK', I think that it says in the top left corner" adds: "but gives me an empty list.
Thank you!
If I'm more mac savy you we're in trouble. The last Mac I used has a black and white screen and used the floppy 3 1/2 "
See Troubleshooting in the Thunderbird Help menu, and then click the display folder of your profile (Thunderbird knows where he is, even if I'm not) the History.mab file is your collected addresses.
