I want to install a SATA drive in my Optiplex gx270s.

I have an Optiplex gx270s (3.2 Ghz) with two internal HD IDE my boot drive died and I noticed two internal SATA connections.  I want to install a SATA drive as my boot drive, pretty easy.  But I've never worked with a SATA disk before and I saw different configurations (7200, 7200.10, 7200.11 10 000 rpm and 1.5 Gbps & 3.0 Gb/s).  Which of these SATA drives will work in my system?  I tried to find the specs on Dell with no chance, former system.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanx

Hello Ali kazemlo thank you for you question on the Microsoft Community.

I understand you are trying to install a new graphics driver for you're amd/Ati graphics device.

First of all, make sure that Windows 8 has all the updates that are installed that have been published to Microsoft open this link and let it check for updates, if updates are shown, install all updates and continue to check new updates until none appear, once you have done this test and reinstall the graphics driver.

    Hello

This problem is related to the installation of the equipment, I would suggest you get in contact with the system manufacturer for assistance that you need the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) Setup to install the new Windows XP SATA drive. Will also need you a floppy drive to install the new SATA drive.

Flash Player will be installed in the folder %WINDIR%.  If it is on your C: drive, then this is where it will install.

  • I want to install new HARD drive

I want to replace my HARD drive with a bigger on my computer. How do I transfer my license to the new hard drive. The OS is Windows 7 Home premium.

If you want to transfer your existing installation on the new drive, you can use the backup and restore utility in Control Panel to create a system image and repair the drive.

If you intend to have a new facility on the new drive for the installation of your DVD of Windows 7 as usual. You will need to call the Activation Center to allow installation again. It has no process for 'unactivate' of the old license before replace her in place.

  • Windows Update: Wants to install an older driver than what I

When I received my recovered laptop hard drive, the driver for Realtek RTL8168D / 8111D family PCE-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC was dated 19/05/2009.

I have a HP PC. Updates of HP provided a later version driver, called Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller, from 27/11/2009 dated, version 7.11.1127.2009.  I installed this driver.

Then MS Updates came back and tried to update the driver, which I did, which referred to a pilot as of 19/05/2009.

Then updates HP tried to update the driver, and I have the possibility, which referred to the 27/11/2009, version 7.11.1127.2009.

Now MS Updates wants to update the driver again.  I don't know that it is for the previous version.  Seems to be in an infinite loop here.  What should I do to make among the two update resources is not always try to mess with this particular device driver?

Hide this update, only mask of this update and no future updates.

If you don't want it, hide it.

As to your question why MS pushing an older driver, you'll have to communicate directly with MS is on the answer to this question.

So basically if MS offers a driver, go directly to the manufacturer site to check it out. Download and install from the site of the manufacturer, if applicable and hide the update on the WU site. Use WU as advice or something.

  • Update Windows wants to install an older driver from Nvidia

My Dell has a driver Nvidia as of 20/11/09 (date of the driver, not the installation of the driver - Driver Version 8.17.11.9562), and Windows Update keeps insisting that I should install an "option" upgrade for a driver from Nvidia which is older, as of September 2007, published 12/12/08.  How is that possible?  How can I let Microsoft know that there must be something wrong with their recommendation of update?

    Hello

Unfortunately updates Windows is often older drivers certified. So the best method is to stop
the automatic update of the drivers while leaving the other updates in automatic mode. Then since updated
drivers can be very important in a mature OS response that must be updated manually. New
computers are provided with pilots of early stage so they really need to be updated quite often especially
When there are major changes in the pilot platform, which is valid for both Vista and Windows 7.

Part of the problem is from the platform changed pilot and there's a maturation process Microsoft
is too overwhelmed with updates from the pilot to the certification process. Thus, at the time where a driver
certification passes a manufacturer probably has published several major updates to this one. Here now
in 32 and 64 bit platforms just adds to the load of the certification.

  • Is it so difficult to plug a new sata drive into XPS8500?

    Hello world

    My Bios Setup:

    Start-up: RAID / UEFI

    SATA 0: 2 TB seagate (Windows 8)

    SATA 5: Xxxx PLDS DVD

SATA 2: 1For seagate one I want to install

    SATA 3: no

mSata 1: Samsung SSD 32 MB (Windows 8)

I tried many things but nothing works. The only thing is in the disk management tool, I see my initial 2 TB disk as ' player 0/in line ", so everything is ok, but the second disc is tagged ' 1/unknown/no disk initialized/no allocated' size 2For (like I said that the disc is 1!  Thank you RAID0 ;)) and a windows asking me to initialize the disc with 2 options: 1 - 2 - GPT boot sector. Works just say "block faults."

Anyone in this place could help me normally do such a simple thing: Add a disk in a PC!

    Tanks for any response.

    HL.

    Just an important clarification :

I have efffectivly used Seatools to view the status of my drives but the menu option, I say in my post before was in the Intel RST start menu that can be seen and then activate with keys ctrl-i. 'Legacy Boot' option must be set to bios before to see at startup.

  • E521 with advanced format ST500DM002 Player - do I need a SATA driver separated during the installation of Windows 7?

    Hello

I have an E521 with 2 GB of Ram and X 2 processor. I want to install Windows 7 on a record nine of ST500DM002 (= native 4K advanced format). It will work without hassle, or will I have to install a SATA driver during installation? If Yes, which? I can't find the necessary information for the main card.

    Thank you, Andre

    Hi Andre,

As you would expect, you will need the Windows 7 drivers RAID so that the installer of Windows recognize the drive. Our buddy rdunnill forum explains how to do this HERE. He included a link to NVIDIA support site where you can download the driver.

    Hi Milad,
Did you get the new driver from the web site of Toshiba or others.

The graphics card in your laptop is not necessarily compatible with the latest drivers from the manufacturer, simply because it is specially designed for your laptop. Usually only the drivers supplied by Toshiba works correctly.

  • E420 - SATA driver for Windows XP

    Hello

I installed Windows XP x 64 on my Thinkpad E420 a few months ago.  Get the operating system to work with 64-bit drivers was a major pain, but I finally got it to work.

Yesterday, as XP x 64 became slower and slower, I uninstalled and installed the 32 bit instead (being fully aware that I won't be able to use my 8 GB, only 2.8.  Will not not to do a lot of school work on XP anyway).

I was hoping that I would have finally managed to install the SATA driver, but no.

It's quite annoying to start the BIOS and change the drive mode from AHCI to compatibility every time I start Windows XP (and the reverse for Windows 7, too).

First, I installed the chipset driver Intel here:

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?docid=DS013906

Then the video driver and tried to install the AHCI support problematic:

      1. Enable Compatibility mode in BIOS setup.
a.Press F1 during power up before entering Windows

      4. Right-click My Computer, then click Properties
      5. Click the Hardware tab

and then select Update Driver Software.
      9. Select "No, not this time" and click "Next".
     10. Select "Install from a list or specific location".
     11. Click "Next" button.
     12. Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install".
     13. Click "Next" button.

     18. Click "Hard Disk" button.
     19. Click "Browse...", then locate the extracted driver folder
and select the driver INF file, iaAHCI.inf.
     20. Click "Open", and then click "OK" button.
     21. At this point you should be presented with a selection and highlight

b.Go to Config tab, and select "Serial ATA (SATA)" and press enter.
c.choose "AHCI" mode, and press F10 to save and exit.

I can't use a floppy drive, and the main problem is that I did not "Standard dual channel PCI IDE Controller" in my device manager.  Only this (sorry for the French):

    http://ImageShack.us/photo/my-images/13/devicebk.PNG/

I tried selecting the first choice (primary IDE channel), but I get a BSOD.

What should I choose, instead?  I'm doing something wrong?

    Thank you very much!

    I have it!

It was actually very simple to install, in fact.

I reinstalled the operating system, and what is important, it is necessary to install the SATA driver immediately after installing Windows XP.

The problem is that I installed the Intel chipset driver first...  Of course, that has caused the problem.  The SATA driver must be the first driver to install.

    Simple as that!
