Then just update my firefox. When I type something into the address bar, first of all I give myself a symbol magnifying glass with "suggestions" of what I might be typing. I already have firefox to see the only my bookmarks or Favorites in the address bar, so I don't know why I make suggestions. For example, a bookmark I begins with the letter E, so as soon as I start typing the letter E, the magnifying glass symbol appears and I get a result for ebay. All I want is to type the full address in me or for firefox suggest to my favorites, nothing else.

  • How do I change default search engine in the address bar?

I know that in previous incarnations of Foxfire I could use about: config and change Keyworld.url to change my search engine default. I recently reset my Foxfire because I had problems with the original site and now it is set by default to Google. I don't want to use google. How can I change this? I don't want a search bar, I don't want to make a difference in a search bar. I want to just the address bar to work the way I have always worked it for me before. Can someone help me?

You can change the search provider from the search bar that is automatically in Firefox by clicking on the arrow pointing down and put in service of your choice.

If you want a custom search engine, you can access this Web site, click the arrow and click on "Add < custom engine >. Example below:

If you don't want the search bar, you can "hide" it view by clicking on the button 3-bar menu, go to 'Customize' at the bottom, and then dragging the search bar in the box features and additional tools .

Once you change the search engine in the search bar, you can hide the search bar and search using the address bar with the provider you have chosen in the search bar.

  • How can I have the cursor in the address bar?

When I open Firefox the cursor is located by default in the Google search engine in the middle of the screen. I don't want it there, I want it in the address bar. How it is possible to occur?

If you do not use this homepage you can change to "subject: vacuum" which I believe can focus the address bar when it open new windows.

  • Since I have no address bar, I can't type config in the address bar to activate the address bar.

New laptop. Downloaded Firefox and could not activate the address bar doesn't so no back arrows or hometown icon or research, etc.
Please do not suggest that I access the controls in the address bar. I do not have an address bar to access anything whatsoever.
I don't want to customize the address bar. I just want to be able to see and use the controls in each illustration to the getting started and help watch are here, as they were on my old laptop.

First of all, make sure that you are not in the mode "full screen" of Firefox. The F11 key toggles between the normal modes and full screen.

Second, you can activate the individual toolbars on and outside using either:

    • Right click on an empty area of the tab bar
    • Click the "+" button on the tab bar
    • Press the Alt key > menu view > toolbars

The address box is on the Navigation toolbar.

If the Navigation bar is displayed but the address box is missing, your bars may be damaged. You can use the 'Restore Default Set' button in the Customize dialog box to restore. Customize Firefox commands, buttons, and toolbars.

    A little luck?

  • How can I change the size of the address bar in firefox 18?

I want to make the address bar much smaller and much bigger search bar (I want still allows them to use the full width of the toolbar). I read elsewhere in the forums that you can change the size of the bar by going to CUSTOMIZE and once the cursor turns into a cursor resize, click and drag. However, who has worked for me with previous versions of Firefox. Since I had to upgrade, the cursor remains a helping hand and never becomes the arrow resize.

No, you don't have to go to customize mode.

You need to do it in normal mode and hover the mouse between the two bars.

  • Since the last update as the address bar, and everything on auto hide. I want this to stop, how to fix?

Also my windows taskbar is hidden, forcing me to minimize firefox to move to other open programs (firefox goes full screen), and my bookmarks toolbar refuses to show below the address bar. All this was well before the more recent update.

You probably accidentally entered the mode full-screen. Press F11 to exit.

  • Stop Auto-loading that I type in the address bar.

Today, I realized that if I pasted the text in the location bar, it automatically does a search via Google. I tried to stop this behavior, so I looked into it. I ended up trying to change keyword.enabled from true to false. He did not take what I wanted. Now whenever I type in the address bar that Firefox opens not only a drop to the low menu suggestions charge but immediately one closest with each character typed. I need to get back to where I started and be able to type in the address bar without loading any page. I tried switching keyword.enabled back, but the browser will not stop this new behavior.

Too bad. It was an option for an add-on I use to count the words on a Web page. I didn't know that instant search is part of the add-on.

  • I get a message that my computer is infected. I want to stop the message from popping up and can't seem to find a way to do it. I'm not savvy computer then

I need help. Even though I know a lot of bases of the use of the computer, I'm not familiar with a lot of the terminology and procedures. Right now I'm at the office. My boss is absent.  I was using the computer and suddenly it starts to give a message that the computer is infected and some "pop up" continues to appear telling me to pay for some sort of "spyware" protection but I can't pay for it and I just want to stop the pop up from popping up.  It seems that it is just a ploy to get me to buy the "anti-spyware".   I can't even "System Restore" to work.  I just want to stop this "warning" popup to appear.

    Hi LucyMartinez,

    ·         Remember to make changes to the computer, after which the issue started?

    ·         What operating system is installed on the computer?

It seems that the computer is infected with a virus/malware/spyware. I suggest that scan you antivirus full to make sure that this computer is not infected with virus/malware/spyware.

  • Time Warner has ordered me to use an IP address directly in the address bar, now I can't stop Firefox try to contact this address whenever I start Firefox.

I was sent a new modem/wireless router by Time Warner in their package of socalled EASYCONNECT connection. They instruct me to search for my current network settings by putting a numeric IP address in the browser's address bar. This IP address could not be contacted, but this isn't the problem:

Now, whenever I run FIrefox, a tab opens and the browser tries, each time without success, to contact this IP address. I want to STOP this, simply return to what the regular homepage from Firefox / Google invites with NO PRELOADED in the address bar.

Can someone please tell me what to do? I tried a "reset" of the home page. I can't find this call my story, even if it is perhaps here.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset preferences to default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).

  • How to stop multiple self-switching to the address bar every time I open a new tab and try typing something anywhere outside the address bar?

How to stop multiple self-switching to the address bar every time I open a new tab and try typing something anywhere outside the address bar? As something just wants me to use this integrated search when you type something non-Web-address in the address bar and press to enter. And the most ridiculous thing is that happens repeatedly on as every second, as I just got off the address bar and start typing again, but still he passes me in the address bar, then 3, 4 times like that. And the result is that I don't see the address of this page.

I think that its has something to do with my AVG Antivirus, because it started the same time a Nation AVG started to appear in each new tab I opened (and which is irritating as me, I've read here on support.mozilla.org and it seems that the only solution is to completely reinstall Firefox, but I don't want to lose all my settings) but when I type something in the address bar and press enter It opens the search results in Google.

Please try to help me, I love Firefox but I have to switch to Chrome until I fix this.

    Thanks in advance

First of all, please update Firefox 32. 22 is no longer support is not safe. So, let us know if you still have this problem. Update Firefox to the latest version

  • Auto-completion in the address bar does not work well

Usually, I always opened in the browser 2 tabs: gmail and hotmail. When I open a tab mew and I start typing in one'm ' to connect to facebook and open my page the mouse the automatic completion feature removes follow her ' I have typed and replaces it with the "switch to tab" Gmail, placing them directly in the address bar "https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox'."
So follow her ' I typed becomes magically an 'h', followed by the rest of the address.
I suggest to improve the auto-completion: if I type one me ' auto complete it with an address that begins with the'm 'or with the part of an address that begins with what am '.
A great idea (in my opinion) can show "https://" in an area between the one with the ' switch to tab:' text, display, in the rest of the address bar, am 'I typed followed by the right side of the address provided, in this case it would be'ail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox'. In this way, when I type the 'o' of the mouse, you can change the "prediction" and fill it in this way: ' mohttp://apps.facebook.com/. usehunt', where the square brackets identifies the box and the vertical bar (|) identifies the beginning of auto-completion.

  • How can I stop Firefox giving search suggestions in the address bar?

From the last update, if I start typing something in the address bar, I get random search suggestions as if I was using the search instead. How can I disable this? It is kind of annoying, and it really bothers me. I read in another article that I went to about: config and checked "I'll be careful", it would stop, but I'm worried it may screw up my browser. Is there another way to solve this problem? Or do I just move a superior browser?

No it won't cause other problems as long as you do not change other preferences.

  • I want to search in the address bar

I have the new firefox 43, when I type things in the bar recipient, my most used web sites pop up at the top and I press down arrow once and get the website, I want, but now article 1 is always the search option, I don't don't need or want it to be there I have a search to the search bar.

How do I 100% completely remove the search from the address bar icon so that the 1st item in the list goes back to be web addresses?

PS I also find it very disconcerting that during this update we asked me if I wanted to search option/suggestions in the address bar and I said no, but when I was looking into options to get rid of this 'new' this option has been activated.

What others of my preferences during the installation you just ignore?

This is a new feature in Firefox 43. To turn it off to do this:

    1. Go about: config in Firefox
    2. Click on the I'll be careful button
    3. Locate the Boolean browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete
    4. Change the false value

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
