    Hello

Since your laptop seems to belong to the Toshiba U.S. series, I think the recovery procedure is a bit different as in the series of European for Toshiba laptop.

You should be able to access the partition by pressing zero when you turn it on, press and hold until you see something on the screen. If this does not work, you will need to use the recovery discs.

I found a page where you can order a recovery for Toshiba notebooks WE drive:

  • How to do a clean install without CD?

My computer came with windows xp 2005. I want to do a clean install. I have the CD key, but the computer did not come with a CD. How do I install without the CD?

Your HP system very likely came with a utility partition that contains all the files needed to do a full restore of your system.  Try typing: F10 (when you start the machine).  Note, this will be on your old system wipe!  Read about it in the HP PC troubleshooting and maintenance Guide (page 18).

In addition, it is software recovery in Start menu-> all programs-> Accessories-> System Tools menu that allows you to create your own recovery media (it took 2 DVD-R or CD-12 r (not DVD - RW or CD - RW!) on the HP here).  Your system allows you to create these discs when you first started has very probably prompted... Everyone should make these records.  You can't recover from a failure of the hard drive without them.  HP help files were very informative and comprehensive, too.  Finding help for recovery.

After you create the disks and restore your system (be it with F10 or by using the disks that you created), you must go to the HP Support website for your system and download updates and drivers updated.  (I have not found an a1520n but I found a Pavilion Media Center a1520y CTO desktop PC.)

And when it is earned, as Daavee has suggested credit, it would be really wise to save all your settings and your documents.  (It's what skip drivers were made for...)

  • x 201 OEM Win7 ultimate clean install without disk

    Hi guys!

I just got my 201 pre-installed with Win7 Ultimate x. My 201 x does not include an optical drive and therefore no recovery win7 don't drive etc. Everything is legitimate and that you have the key for activation on the underside of the computer.

I REALLY want to do an install own complete on my system.

I searched a little and have little chance to find how to do this without an optical drive, an OEM version and no way to download the iso file.

If someone could please shed is little light on how to do this would be greatly appreciated I am reluctant to download install all programs etc until I have finished cleaning.

    Thanks guys,.

Download Thinkvantage System update, it should withdraw all the drivers concerned on the Lenovo Web sites for you, that will simplify the process of downloading drivers.

You can also copy your current driver on your c: drive files and use these drivers.

  • HP Envy 17: Clean install Windows 10 without upgrade.

    Hello

First of all, I am very happy with my new HP laptop first, it's amazing!

Now my problem. The laptop came with 8.1 Windows preinstalled with a free upgrade to Windows 10, however, I want to do a clean install Windows 10 without going through the process of upgrading (or would defy a 'clean' install), without additional software (I have already downloaded all the drivers and software from HP Web site) and I wanted to make the installation of the driver/software myself.

Now, I had the key OEM with software, however...

I read several threads related to this problem, the recommended steps were required to use the creator of media, but that won't install it Windows 8.1? I know that I coud after upgrade, but I wanted to avoid this step

In any case to create support for Windows 10? If I clean install 10 Windows with a retail key, I'll lose the built in recovery?

Thank you very much for your kind attention,

    Best regards

    Francisco

    To answer your questions:

    (1) MS media creation tool: Activation in Windows 10 - Windows help offers several options: to upgrade this PC now, create installation media (download the ISO file), create an installation (DVD or USB) media.  Choose the option that suits you - understand that upgrading PC, this option does NOT create an ISO file or installation media.

    (2) lose the built-in recovery.  IF you ask on the resumption of Win8x HP - then Yes.  That no longer works after upgrade Win10.

    (3) retail vs upgrade and recovery: Version does not matter, you will lose HP Win8x recovery without worrying.

    (4) retail key - you get ONLY a touch of detail if you buy a copy at Win10 retail.  The version proposed for the free update does not product keys for activation.  You MUST install a version upgrade on top of an existing installation of Win7/8/8.1 so that it will activate.  If you install directly from media Win10 Upgrade, starting from the media and did an install clean, not only will win 10 then NOT activate, right now, it will NEVER activate.  MS talking about providing an option IN THE FUTURE, to allow people to enter a Win7/8/8.1 existing product key - but this feature is not present today.

  • I'll be able to perform a clean install of Windows 7 (Vista Upgrade Option)?

I was wondering if I would be able to perform a clean installation of Windows 7 with "upgrade drive" we are is sent when Windows 7 is released October 22, 2009. I had read that we will be able to upgrade the sense we will keep all our old stuff, however I just want to perform a clean install without all the garbage that comes preloaded on the computer when you buy it.

Yes, you will be able to clean install with upgrade disc. Generally, everything you had will go into a folder named windows.old, if you have backed up everything you can delete this folder but if not only get what you need, then delete. This issue will take place. The folder contains all the files you had, the programs, but you can not open them or he'll tell program not found and the files of vista or xp. I hope this helps. Just at the moment where you see the menu level or custom installation, click Custom install and who should be the ability to clean the facility.                  OS: Windows 7 Professional. PC: HP DV4t.

  • Laptop HP 15-R204NE: clean install of Windows 10

    Hello

I'm ready to do a clean install of Windows 10 but the only thing that worried me are the drivers provided factory installed with my laptop, it was initially delivered with Windows 64 - bit of 8.1. I don't want to lose one that I have no idea how or where I'm going to do if I lose everything. If someone has a way to understand this help is very much appreciated.

    Kind regards.

    Hello Zarakkhan ;

I read your post on the new install of drivers of Win10 and wanted to help.

As to the first, the upgrade of active Win10 through something known as right digital, install some sense, when you perform an upgrade on the spot on an existing Win7/8/8.1, upgrade reuses the existing product key for activation.  After you confirm that the machine is turned on, you can THEN do a clean install on the same machine.  IF you do a clean install without activating the first, you will not activate your copy of Win10.

That said, MS released earlier to a new update to Win10 and (allegedly), you should be able to do a clean install with NEW media made from multimedia authoring tool and have it activate using your product key of Win8.1.  But, I haven't read anyone done this yet, is just a rumor at this point.

As for save the drivers, there's a product excellent freeware called Driver Backup.  After you download and install it, you can then save out all your current drivers on a USB key.  This will make reinstall them later a simple process. I know it works because I use this product myself.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • How to clean install windows 7 on T400, am I right?

My T400 pre-installed with Windows Vista Business, so I would get a clean installation of Windows 7 on my laptop.

My method: clean install Windows 7 on the laptop with a single partition (infact there are two of them, including the 100 MB partition, created by the system Windows 7 itself.). After installation, I will set up my internet and just download the ThinkVantage System update, then install it. Then I'm going to update and install all the drivers and by the ThinkVantage System Update ThinkVantage tools. So I think that the work has got an end. Am I wrong?

Another question: If there is a single partition, when I want to use Rescue and Recovery for my system backup or files then keep the backups to the partition, how Rescue and Recovery restores my system clean install without destroying the backups? In my opinion, if when the restore process is complete, the clean install GETS back but the backups always not to locate their position?

Thank you and enjoy for all the answers!

first of all, I hope you did just product recovery disc in case you want to load the original image, once you do a clean installation, the option has disappeared. 2 update does not offer CSS or RnR so you will have to do it manually. 3. Once you have everything installed, you will need to make a backup of that this backup will be used to retrieve at your own facility. If you do not create this backup, there is no way to recover your newly installed win.7

  • I'd be able to do a clean install of El Capitan * without * destroy my Windows partition?

I bought this media 2011 27 "iMac used earlier this year as a refurb from a dealer. It came with El Capitan installed, but I have the feeling that they had a facility upgrade compared to a clean install. The computer suffers from slow start and loading slow program (but once it loads then its fine). It's the same with my old iMac when I did an upgrade to Leopard years ago snow leopard, and erase the disk and performing a clean install OSX (and put files and programs back with Time Machine) has solved these problems then. So I thought it wouldn't hurt to try a clean install on this machine.

But read the tutorials I noticed that if you are not the first owner of the computer, then you cannot install updates OSX without resetting the computer? Although I WAS able to install the OS via the App Store updates (and I thought that I linked my Apple ID to the machine when I put initially in place), won't install not mean I should be able to clean, or it will have to be completely reset?

Yes, I've run disk utility and checked my HHD drive, it works fine. The entire machine is nice and quiet, not making abnormal sounds or perform exceptionally, it's just really the slow start in OSX and slow loading programs that are the problem.

I also recently created a Windows partition and installed Windows 8.1. It starts and runs decently faster than OSX, so I think it's just a problem with OSX and not the HHD himself and do a clean install will be hopefully solve problems. This computer has given me a lot of grief, creating a partition to install Windows 8.1 (unlike my old iMac) so wouldn't really really really have to wipe the HHD together to "change the property" and having to mess with which once again...

It 'sounds' like since the app store IS letting me install OS and updates to program with my Apple, I SHOULD be able to start in the RecoveryHD Partition and ID here to make a new install of Mac OS x on * just * my existing Mac partition. And this should not erase my * any * HHD, just the Mac partition. I'll save my whole Windows partition just to be safe, however. I could not find a guide which deals specifically with only reset the OSX partition and not wipe out Windows in the process, so I want to make sure I have my facts straight. I had planned on OSX reset and then restore my files with Time Machine. However, I also want to assure you that this will allow me to go even and reset the OS in the first place, given that I am not the original owner of the iMac and I don't know if they reset it correctly.

Sorry for the extremely long question and TIA!

Open the Mac App Store, make sure that you are signed in with your Apple ID and click on the purchase tab to see if El Capitan is associated with your Apple ID. If this isn't the case, you will need to download it so it will be associated with your Apple ID. If this is the case, you are all ready.

Are updates to OS X, not the buyer, so you can install all the updates, but the OS needs to be associated with your Apple ID.

I'm not sure about Windows, how did you install Windows? With Boot Camp? You should be able to clone on another drive (if you have one) using Clonezilla. Then wipe and reinstall El Capitan and put in place the Boot Camp partition and clone back.

  • Can I do a clean install of Windows 8 (without the DELL OEM software)?

    Hi people,

I just bought a DELL Inspiron 17R laptop computer which came with Windows 8. I want to install an aftermarket SSD and do a clean install of Windows 8 on the SSD without all the stuff extra DELL piles on the computer in their factory. However, the laptop does not come with any media of Windows 8. My other options (copy windows divide in the SSD or use Windows backup and restore), both result in installing Windows 8 with a lot of software DELL.

DELL said that they do not have the installation of Windows 8 media and I need to contact Microsoft to get it. Any ideas on how I can go about this? I'm happy to pay a nominal fee for the discs, but having already an OEM of Windows 8 installation, I want to avoid going to the shops and buy a new license.

    Any ideas are much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Chris

Unfortunately, your only option is to create a disk backup and restore using recovery tools provided by Dell and use it to reinstall Windows 8. This is especially true because you run Windows 8, which are not available elsewhere.

    or

    SSD of cloning:

You can clone the installation for the SSD, provided that the SSD is large enough to accommodate the installation to be cloned.

    See

http://www.ssdfreaks.com/content/664/how-to-clone-HDD-to-SSD-with-Windows-7s-own-software or (easier) use a copy of the trial of Acronis True Image Home.

Note that, immediately after cloning, you must stop and unplug the original installation. The disc can be reconnected once the DSS started successfully.

  • I inadvertanly did a clean install of W7 without saving the existing bookmarks

I forgot to mark a backup of bookmarks for a USB before you do a clean install of W7 to my computer.
There is a "Windowsold" folder that has put the facility on drive C. is possible to recover bookmarks?

If you C:\Windows.old, you can be lucky.

First of all, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

    Then click in:

    Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\

Note: there is a cache under AppData\Local folder, but everything important is under AppData\Roaming.

Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably one you want to restore.

This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect these data in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

    https://support.Mozilla.org/questions/1024189#answer-638319

    A little luck?

Note that if you really ONLY want to bookmark, copy the last two backups of the old bookmarkbackups folder to a location such as the desktop, see the following article (you will use 'Choose file' in the menu to access these backups): restoring bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer. Note that this process will replace all new bookmarks that you may have saved since installing Firefox again. If you need to preserve those, first use the export feature: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks.
