  • lost my iCloud security code help

Lost my iCloud Security Code, Help!

Are you talking about the access code specifically for your iOS device? The page you came here from - linked at the top of this page - tells you what it takes (basically delete the device).

But you said "iCloud", which has nothing to do with the password. You have 2 steps enabled audit? (Otherwise, the rest of this post is not relevant.) This requires you to have two of the three things - your password, a "trusted device" where code can be sent or received when you configure the recovery key. If you lose two of those three things no one can help you, including Apple. I hope you meant password, which means simply wipe the device and restore your data from your backup.

  • iCloud security keychain and 2FA

Bit of a long post, but I wanted to give general information on the question, I have experience. I guess than the TL. DR version would be "ICloud Keychain with 2FA active, uses is no longer the security key?

After changing my Apple ID a few months ago who seem to go through unhindered after that I followed all the instructions, I therefore decided to improve authentication in two stages, to two-factor authentication last week.

This also seems to be okay (off 2-Step, on 2FA), however, subsequently, the notification on my devices 2FA displayed my new Apple ID, but had rather my only old - an email address, I no longer have access to (and that Apple should technically not have same folder, because I removed all instances of it in my Apple ID account page).

I managed to solve this problem by connecting to iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and iTunes Store on all my devices (one at a time), and logging then again.

2FA notifications now display the correct current Apple ID on all my devices.

However, during the process of logging in, the keychain part iCloud confuses me...

I first disconnected my iPhone (iOS 9.3.1) and then again. During the process, asked me for my keychain security key, I have icloud. However, it asked me to enter the password of my iPhone device then said it was my new security key-iCloud. I'm not really who, like my keychain security was much longer and more complex than my iPhone password.

When I did this process on my MBP (OSX 10.11.4), asked me to enter the password to my iPhone for iCloud keychain.

Then on my iPad (also 9.3.1), I was asked to enter the password of my MBP to iCloud keychain!

It was all very confusing, and I don't want my computer password uploaded to the cloud, encrypted or not.

So, I wanted to go in iCloud keychain and re - activate the security key, but this option is no longer there. It is no longer an option to 'Manage' on OSX in iCloud Keychain, or any menu under "Advanced" in the Menu Settings Keychain iOS.

I assumed that the source of confusion for me part is I didn't 2FA activated for about a week before I did the output/log in process, and advanced security key options were still there, so it is not clear to me that it's just because I 2FA enabled I can put is no longer a security key.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

  • icloud security code

Why did when I try to turn on iCloud Keychain he ask me if I want to authenticate with my security code OR device, and when I choose security code and then correctly enter my security code, always wants to send another code by SMS to a device for approval?

What is the point of giving me a choice of security mechanism of GOLD code if it is going to require a device anyway?  Is there something I'm missing about this procedure?

    The two methods are:

    (1) require the authentication of a device previously authorized.  This means that the iCloud Keychain system will send a pop-up at all your devices that are currently already using iCloud keychain and authenticated.  This is the easiest method, as it will simply pop up on your other devices and you authenticate with your password Apple ID to give your new device access.  Fact.

    (2) use the Code Security and verification of device Code.  This is where you enter your security code you created for iCloud keychain and then enter the number of secondary authentication received (usually via SMS).  This method for those who may have a backup plan for the first option.  As in my case, I have the SMS authentication will my phone number and my wife's phone number.  While my wife does not access my iCloud Keychain, I can use him as a point of authentication in case I'm not the #1 option.

In your case, you are clearly able to make both options with your iPhone because its iCloud authenticated in Keychain (already using the service) as well as put in place for the secondary SMS verification.

Well, I hope this explains why there are two options and that they could be used differently.  At the end of the day, it allows multiple options for different scenarios.
