Sure that I did it because the hard drive was quite small. Whenever I listened to music, I turn the exteriors, and iTunes to recognize and play everything. It depends on what files you have where. You have the entire library on the outside or do you only media files?  If the entire library, you can move it:

Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/alt key (shift on Windows) keys to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.  https://support.Apple.com/HT201596

The computer is a desktop HP running Windows Vista Ultimate 2007, 32 Bit OS, RAM 400 GB and Intel Quad CPU 2 .4GHz.

I have not received any error message.

I use a Toshiba external drive with 500 + GB.  I have a lot of room.  I tried twice.  The first time I reformatted the external drive using Windows and revived the full backup only.  Once again the image file on the external drive shows 0 bytes, 0 files.

I wonder why the backup files are not getting moved on the external drive.

    Hi BEM Consult,.

    1. are you allowing Windows to choose recommended backup or you choose "Let me pick" option on the backup configuration window?

We recommend that you connect the external hard drive on another computer and check if the size of the backup file is in the list.

Check if you have selected all the items in the backup settings to create a backup file. Try to create a new backup file by selecting all items on the Backup Wizard and check the result.

  • Fast download of all pictures of iCloud on an external drive?

    Hi all

This question was asked a few times, but no real progress seems to have been done in the past months, so I thought I would ask the question again, perhaps that someone has found a new 'thing '? :

    Location:

-I would like to save all my (> 40 k pictures) photos currently in iCloud on an external drive.

-I don't have enough memory space on my Mac to Park gradually through 'Photos' (i.e. download all original to my mac-function)

-I want to directly choose a location (i.e., my external HARD drive) to store in.

    What I tried:

-Via Safari and Chrome: connect to iCloud.com, select all images (via 'Shift' and select photo first + last) and direct downloads on the external drive.

    Problem:

Since there are so many pictures, my Safari and my browsers Chrome "crashes" and do not complete the work (actually that they don't even start to download). If I select just say 5 pictures, it works in a jiffy.

Any ideas, I would be grateful?

    Thank you

    Do not use iCloud.com.

Set up a library on your external drive, make the system library and download the photos, once you've done that you can keep it this way, keep as a secondary library and change the library system to another library or simply export all the photos and remove the library.

  • Problem moving iTunes to external hard drive

Hi my old laptop (works on Windows Vista) think that all my music is located on the way on my c: drive by default, in fact, all my music is on my external hard drive. I know how to change the path via the preferences on my hard drive, but how to import my music without creating a massive amount of duplicates? Thanks in advance for any help.

See make a library of portable split. If your library is in the standard layout and that you moved the folder media manually, then move the main iTunes folder to the root of the drive, put the inside and shift-Start iTunes media folder. This must be equivalent to a simple move of a portable library.

Otherwise, see this post - Re: iPod doesn't sync not all -advice on the reissue of links the library to the media outsourced. Ideally, you would set things in a provision of mobile as part of the same process to make sure that the library on external drive is ready to connect to any computer replacement. You should also backup to a second drive.

  • models of 5 and moving animation on external hard drive

I have a video project created at the FCC. I used a movement 5 for a text within the FCP model. I need to move on an external hard drive for a customer. I consolidated and moved the PCF files to the external drive, but the model came not during. Just the red screen with exclamation point. I guess it's a problem of linking somehow, but have been pulling my hair out trying to figure how to recover the text. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Animation models are separated from the material FCPX, effects and patterns. Look in your user/films/Motion models folder. You can copy it to the external hard drive, but it will need added to the model Motion record the new hosts. You will also need the fonts used.

  • With regard to iCloud library & external drives

Now I'm confused. I used to store my library on a disk outside of G but now decided to buy storage on iCloud to move my 70 GB library out there. After a few weeks finally made. Now, the question: How can I use the Photo app on my Mac without the hard drive external?

Only use for external devices and iCloud site? Should I always use the external drive if I want to use the Photo App?

Thanks for any information you experts can give me.

Photos treat your library on your external drive. What you do for photos in this library is synchronized with the library duplicate in the cloud, but you can't do the reverse all about the Photos app.

If you do not have your external drive connected, you can work on your iCloud photo library in the cloud in a very limited measure by iCloud.com > Photos, then the changes will be synchronized to the external drive next time you launch Photos on your mac with your external drive connected.

  • How can I save icloud photolibrary on an external hard drive

    I'm operating an iMac and 20.5 "mid-2010.

I'm on OSX El Capitan, 10.11.2

My pictures version is Version 1.3 (350.23.0)

The hard drive on my computer space is now filled and I need make arrangements to save a lot of my files off the computer.

One option is to store my photos in iCloud-storage and use the facilities to minimize the disk space used on my computer.  That has worked well.

However, I'd like to be able to keep a backup copy one [effective hard drive just in case, but because that photo on the computer library is reduced to a minimum, I don't think that I can do by simply copying the file across.]  I don't see how to download the complete file of the iCloud.  Is there another way to do this?

To create a backup of your iCloud photo library, you can create an empty photo library on an external drive.

The external drive should be directly connected for example to USB or Thunderbolt and formatted Mac OS X extended (journaled):

    • Now launch Photo while holding down the button options to bring up the library selector.
    • Select this option to create a new library on the external hard drive.
    • Double-click on this library to open it in Photos. Then activate your system photo library in pictures and the library of iCloud preferences.
    • Disable "Mac storage optimization" and wait for the pictures to download on your backup copy. That can take several days.

Once all the photos have been uploaded to the copy, switch to your in-House photo library by double clicking it again.

Reactivate your system and your iCloud library library. Select 'optimize the storage of Mac '.

  • Moved files on external hard drive cannot find my changes in lightroom

    I use Lightroom 4 on a Mac.
I moved recently all my photos on an external hard drive, and nothing I've read yet could help move my images edited in Lightroom.

In lightroom, beside the heading folder I clicked on the + and added my external drive - it shows it's Green and alive.

All the pictures I had initially recorded on my Mac hard drive are now showing on external drive - good.

In lightroom, the subfolders in my Mac hard drive are now show with question marks that files are missing - who they are, because they are now on my external hard drive.

What is my problem, all the editing I did on these photos in lightroom before is now gone. How do the editing work I had done on these photos to appear on the external hard disk images? If I look at my pictures on the hard drive of the Mac, they show they have faded and disappeared, but it shows all my changes again on the photos. External hard disk, it shows the original version of the image with no changes made.

Note: I backed up my computer before moved me all my photos, so if I need to put them on hard drive on my mac, I am able to do.

    Update

I have solved my problem. If someone comes across the question I was trying hard, I suggest to try move the files from WITHIN lightroom.

Initially, I had used my OS to move my files to image on an external hard drive, by simply drag and drop. Lightroom was not able to keep the editing I did on these pictures after that that they were moved. I restored a backup on my Mac and place the files in their original location. Then within the lightroom program, I was able to move the folders from photo (with modifications) on my external hard drive.

  • How to import pictures to my library of Photos on Macbook Pro if I moved the library to an external drive to save space?

Recently, I copied my library of Photos (Yosemite version 10.10.5) on an external drive, so I can then delete it to free up disk space. I've read some older articles (a few years), because I can't find the newest, who speak of creation and management of affairs to a new library, but it does not appear to match the drop-down menus, I work with that.  I myself as much as to rename the Library copy, I still have on my Macbook Pro, but don't know what to do to go from there, since I seem to be outdated instructions.  I have not removed the library still existing on my Mac because I fear that I won't be able to undo everything I do.  Can someone enlighten me please?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Pictures always open and use the last use library - hold down the option key while launching Photos and choose the library on the EHD (note the EHD must be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled), be connected via a fast wired connection and should not be used as a backup volume Time Machine)-a complete test it and then you can remove the library on the internal disk (test once more before emptying the Recycle Bin)

  • The drive letter for the files on my external drive does not match the designated letter MyWindowsApp, after briefly changing pots

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. what security software is installed on the computer?

You can follow these steps to assign a letter to the external drive and check if that helps.

1 - click on 'Start' button.

2-right-click on "Computer" in the list that appears.

Option 3 - Select the 'manage '. If a warning appears asking for your permission to continue, click on the OK"" button.

4 - Choose "Disk management" in the left column of the computer management window. Find the USB in the list that appears in the gray bottom of the center column.

5-click right on the part of the screen that represents the USB key, and then click the option "letter of change of road and railways.

6 button - click on the 'change' in the window that opens.

    7. ensure that the radio button to "assign the following drive letter:" is selected. To the right of the present is a drop-down list with the drive letters currently not assigned to all of the drives on your local system. If you are not on a network, choose the drive letter you want for your USB key and then click on the OK"" button.

  • Starts the Powerbook g3 pismo of the external drive?

    Hello, all,.

I want to start my Powerbook G3 (Pismo) running OS 9.2.2 since the restore in one disc external hard drive. (PB knows he has a drive hard internal , but the drive does not read discs in there.) The computer goes up the disc - its own restore disk - when it comes starts with Macintosh HD as a player start, but when I try to use the restore disc as commissioning, starts to drive to go up, but the door opens. Even if I hold the door closed, the computer starts low to halfway and glued in place: first, the question mark flashing, then commissioning with Macintosh HD but then freeze it.

This happens even if I chose as the startup disk restore disk in the startup configuration panel. This means that I can't even begin to use disk utility to clean the hard drive of the computer. I did that with two other computers (reset several times), but those who had internal functioning disks. Is it possible that I can do this computer using the external drive as the boot? I read that the G3 Pismo that allows. I know I can get someone to take out the hard disk and smash, but I expect much prefer to destroy it myself. And I can understand how to remove the hard drive, but it seems to imply a boatload of maneuvers and some tools that I have, at the present time. I would not completely destroy the computer. It would be good for recyclers to be able to retrieve some parts, though they might be useful to someone.

It is possible that I can't boot from the restore disc in the external drive, but maybe there's something that I have not yet tried. It seems crazy that the external hard drive with the restore disc appears on the desktop with a normal restart, and I can choose as boot drive but can't seem to complete commissioning. If anyone has any ideas on this subject, I would appreciate it a lot.

    Thank you.

    Jenny

Are you trying to boot the PowerBook to an external optical drive that is connected to a USB port or your external drive connectivity FireWire?  If it is USB, that is the problem.  The reading of an optical drive connected by USB is one thing, but start since it is a different matter.  Unfortunately, your Pismo is not capable of this.
