Moving music from external drive

Here's what I'm trying to do / what I've done.

1 bought new Macmini (fact)

2 transferred old Macmini new information (fact)

3. iPhoto for Photo (actually, a little pain)

4 iTunes library (not done)

After taking a while to understand that iphoto photo, I thought I might try iTunes and see how that happened. Disaster. At a point with my old mini, I started to import directly to my outside. Sure that I did it because the hard drive was quite small. Whenever I listened to music, I turn the exteriors, and iTunes to recognize and play everything. Now that the hard drive with the new computer in a format that non-space, I would get all the music on the new computer. For some reason, I can't return to my mini old music for new Mac, and the new mac does not recognize outside. Almost, if not all, of the music is out of existing CD, so I'm not worried, if I can't get this figured out. I can't believe it must be this hard, but I'm having no luck. As always, thanks for the help.

It depends on what files you have where. You have the entire library on the outside or do you only media files?  If the entire library, you can move it:

Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/alt key (shift on Windows) keys to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.  https://support.Apple.com/HT201596

If only the media files, you need to consolidate:

  • How to search for music on external drive, while in I tunes

I just bought the Mac Mini and have an external hard drive connected with my music on it.   I tried to click on search on iTunes, but could not get to find my music...   What is the best way to locate my music?

The best answer, to more information about your intentions and history. The direct answer is drag media files to the external drive to a blank playlist in iTunes. Of course, this copierait all the files on your internal drive.  The best solution would be to place previous to your new computer. A library is much more than simply a set of media files, however.

    Hello

Do you have any application installed on the computer security?

    Method 1:

If you do, I suggest you to disable anti-virus and check if it solved the problem.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If the step is not enough, then you can go to the method 2:

    Method 2:

I suggest you go through the steps and check.

    a. closed Windows Media Player12.

    b. Access Services [table-> system and security-> administration-> Services tools]

    c. find the service named "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service"

    d. stop the Service manually.

    e. Locate the "UpnP device host"service. Stop the service and restart it.

    f. run "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" now.

    g. close windows all associated and the Panel. Open Windows Media Player, right click on a playlist and see if the Play option lists the TV. Try to play now.

Hope this helps and keep us posted.

  • Changes to the Raw files disappear when importing Images from external drive

I use three external drives to copy my files from a work of transformation. Then I delete the original work on my hard drive portable. When I need to access these files again, I usually then re - import files in lightroom and remove the external hard drive. I used this system for years without problem. Recently, I found that when I go to import files from the external hard drive, my changes are gone. .Xmp files are there and I checked to make sure that the box is checked to write the changes to the .xmp file. I narrowed down it to two possible problems. It can be a problem with the disk hard as it seems to have started when I bought two new drives (see below). I also noticed that it seems to happen to Canon. Raw CR2 files and not Nikon. Raw NEF files. If someone has had this problem or have any suggestions?

  • Why-letter from external drives gets changed in windows 7

    Hi all

Can someone please advise, why the external drive letters gets changed even after changing disk management in windows 7.

He worked for two days and turns again.

In Windows, each external storage device is assigned a unique ID (UID). That UID and the corresponding parameters are stored in the registry. The seetings include the drive letter assigned as well. If one of the drive letter is assigned to tell the reader, manually, after unplugging it, the same drive letter assigned to the drive B, the letter for the drive B. For example, if A player is connected again, a new letter is assigned automatically. You may notice that the drive letter for drive B cannot be used as drive B is disconnected, and yet the settings in the registry makes Windows assign a new drive letter to a drive, like the manually assinged drive letter B is allocated for drive B and the next time you connect player B the same drive letter is assigned, according to the registry settings.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones x Moving music from my BLACKBERRY to my COMPUTER

Hey guys out there, this could be a new.

Hello first of all, from a user of Android! I own a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I actually post on behalf of my father, who is the proud owner of a Bold 9930.

We have a current perdicament that we have been unable to resolve by using this software, and I hope desperately that we are all both being stupid. The program and the device are both works well and we have already transferred pictures back, but for the life of me, I can't know where the devil I can transfer music to the device. Only, I can sync the music from the computer to the device.

Now, before you say, Oh, "just go through windows Explorer!", there is a catch. The music we want to move is on the Micro SD card and not the device itself. Synchronization Manager seems to even give the possibility to the music in the first place, much less the SD card!

I prefer to do this process without taking the micro SD card on and spend the money to get an adapter so it can go into the regular SD slot in my laptop. Is this possible?

Thank you much for the help!

    This one is really easy.

  • transfer my music from external hard drive to my library from xp to vista library, or have them play.

I have a v2000 compaq with xp home on it. I use a 500 gig, "My Book", to store all my music and music only (the letter of the drive on xp is E). Now, I bought a compaq cq60, with basic vista on it (the drive letter for 'My Book' on vista is F). I connected the ext drive in my vista and I raised the media player '11' [xp drive is '10' I think] and my music was everywhere and made different folders and much music would not play. error came say plyr cannot find music because two different files, appoint or has been deleted. So I plug the plyr xp and had many of the same things happen.  What's wrong? And how to fix this? I know that the songs are still there somewhere. How to get them back too?

Thanks for any help you can give me. Please try to explain in simple terms. Laughing out loud. not a total pc'er again. still much to learn.

    Hi DJ_FEELGOOD_1,

The library is a database that includes links to digital media files on your computer. Among other reasons, you cannot move the library from one computer to another, because the links in the database would be more correct.

If you want to replicate your library ongoing on another computer, you must copy your digital media files on this computer, and then add these files to the new library. For more information about adding content to your library, seeAdd items to the library.

  • play music on external drive using wmp

I have a large external hard drive filled with music.  I want to play music with Windows Media Player without loading music on my computer, filling my c: drive.  Any advice?

In WMP, click on the 'File' menu and select 'Add to library'.  (Or press ).  By clicking on the button "Advanced Options" allows you to specify the locations of the music files you want to add.  Add these files to the WMP library do not move files to the original location, but will tell WMP where find them easily when you want to read.

  • Copy of Virtual Machine from external drive to SAN

    Hello

I'm looking for advice on the best way to copy a Virtual Machine and its files from an external USB drive on an ESX Datastore (the data store is a logic on the SAN unit number that is attached to the ESX Server).

I was going to connect a PC on the same VLan, set the USB to the PC then load vSphere Client, navigate to the data store and then choose 'download files '.  This is the recommended option?  I remember reading somewhere before on formatting the USB drive in FAT32 and then mount it on the ESX Server?

    Thank you.

Forget about editing of the USB key to the ESX host. Just use vSphere client to transfer files, or enable SSH access to your host and use SCP (WinSCP or FastSCP are great options) to transfer your files to your data warehouses.

If this post was useful/solved your problem, please mark the points of wire and price as seem you. Thank you!

  • How to recover lost files from external drive

We erased all the content on a backup external seagate more desktop drive because we BONE-headedly failed eject the drive, that doesn't not want to clear beforehand.

What is the best way to recover these files, if there is one. Oh!

No if you have reused the player and "crushed" of your files. Otherwise, see below:

    General file recovery

If you stop using the drive it is possible to recover files that have not been overwritten by using the recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, recovering files or TechTool Prodeleted.  Each of the previous ones come on a bootable CD for use without risk to write more data to the disc.  Two free alternatives are disk drill and Cisdem DataRecovery. Recovery software generally provides trial versions which allows you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond that, or if the drive has completely failed, you must send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.

The hard drive remains the most widely used and the data are recorded, the greater the chance that your deleted files will be overwritten.

Also, visit The FAQ XLab and read the FAQ on data recovery.
