  • Updates to settle if automatic update is disabled?

Two weeks ago, I allowed the computer to "update and turn off.  After restart the next morning, I received an error message and the blue screen of death.  Finally, after trying all available automatic recovery, I had to send my computer to the center of the guarantee of having the reinstalled window and the hard drive repair.

Less all my files of course.

I just left the computer on three days while my files restored from my cloud storage.

When I went to close I noticed that it wanted to update again.  NOT. A.Chance I'll make several updates until I did this semester of teaching!

I have now disabled automatic updates and questions.

    Hello D,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

Windows Update contains software tools that detect information about your computer, such as the make and model and the version of Windows and other Microsoft software running on your computer. Microsoft uses this information to install only the updates your computer needs.

Windows Update notifies you if the security and other important updates cannot be installed. This can happen due to various reasons including corrupted Windows Update package installation, slow or intermittent internet connection, third-party manufacturer's software is conflicting with Windows running on your computer etc services. To do this, Windows provides a built-in Troubleshooting of Windows Update that can automatically find and fix some problems with Windows Update.

You can, however, disable automatic update when you want. This gives you an option to choose until the Windows updates are installed. Windows does not install updates when the automatic update is disabled. So, if you restart your computer to install some software, this will not affect not updates of Windows works if automatic update is disabled. However, you can get notification to install updates pending.

Second, it is always safe to install Windows updates with an internet connection running flawlessly. For best results, it is recommended that you run not any third-party application, while updates are installing and the internet connection is smooth. Alternatively, you can Activate the automatic update when you want. Don't forget, updates Windows Installer patches critical for lots of bugs related to the software installed on the system and ensures that the device drivers for Windows are not absent from your PC.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need additional help on the issue, we will be happy to help you.

  • Somehow my XP OS some features to go home, but have always some quirks: the function of automatic update is on but a prompt warning burst to say computer is in danger and that the automatic update is disabled...

I have been in contact with Avast and they got my antivirus works then it has eliminated some of the infected files, but has done some damage to my XP system. Now, as mentioned, I can do things that my previous question. I can't use my cd to repair XP due to a prompt to say that my laptop is a version higher than the cd update...
Back to the drawing board. Any advice? An Apple MacPro is perhaps in my near future...

Thanks to all of you who have read my problems.

Well, that would be good...  If your system has installed Service Pack 3 (you did not) and your XP installation CD has an older PC, you probably want to use your old CD to repair your current system, would you?  Does this sound like your situation?

Unless you have created an installation CD of new/updated XP with SP3 on it yourself, it is unlikely for most people to have such a thing.  You can certainly use your old XP CD to create a new installation CD of XP that has SP3 on it, but you can do it later (this is a fun project).

So far things are working perfectly!

Avast! sometimes has a bad habit of quarantine (effectively Delete) critical XP system files...  This is not sound like the problem with your automatic updates, but it would be nice to let some other scanners to look at your system (Avast! don't know everything).

Since you seem to have had some kind of infection of the system, I suggest you do the following tests in addition to your Avast! and THEN solve any problems the scans by operating clean.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
  • How do you create a calculation that automatically updates the changes?

    Hi all

I am trying to create a named using subtraction calculation. That's how it is stated:

    KM

    -KG

    Field1 =

    -Field2

    = GM (liquid)

The tab calculate for zone 1, I wrote in the simplified field notation:

    KM - KG

And the tab calculate = GM (liquid), I wrote it in simplified field notation:

    Field1 Field2

And it all works perfectly that I change all the totals in the fields of Field2 or KG or KM .

If changes in these areas they don't update automatically.

How can I make them to update automatically?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

To set the order of computation of field, go first in forms editing mode (Tools > forms > change), then: tasks > other tasks > edit fields > set field calculation order

Order the fields in a list of everything that makes sense for your form. Be sure to do it again once the form works as you want to ensure that it is always configured correctly.

  • Said automatic updated Security Center is disabled; Control Panel says it's on

Recently starting Win xp, Security Center displays indicating that automatic updates is disabled. When I click to turn it on, he says he cannot not and indicates that it takes to do this via the control panel. In the Panel, it is stated that automatic updates is enabled actually.

It started a few weeks ago the same then, as a malware attack, which since then has been cleaned (apparently).

I don't know if associated: try to use Microsoft Windows Update: breaks down, ditto always fails just check the updates.

Even if the infection has been removed some repair work is needed.

  • Automatic update will not stay in automatic mode

I apply automatic updates to automatic and start, then a Virus I assume in turn he returns to disabled so I can't launch the updates for Microsoft Security Essentials

Note: We can see that the computer is badly infected. We must now determine how best to get it cleaned up. Please answer the following questions by number in your response:

    1. When did you first notice that automatic updates is disabled and that you could not re - activate? Was this before or after you had installed MSE?

    2. do you have a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? [Yes/No/don't know]

    3. were you running McAfee Internet Security , McAfee VirusScanor McAfee Security Centerbefore installing MSE?

    4. open Add/Remove programs and make sure that the show updates at the top box is checked. Now do scroll down and tell me who, if the following updates are listed:

    Windows XP security update (972270)

    Windows XP security update (978207)

Update security for Windows Internet Explorer 7 (978207)

Update security for Windows Internet Explorer 8 (978207)

PS: Install MSE automatically removes Windows Defender on Windows XP computers so don't worry about this. In fact, even your McAfee application may have disabled Defender.

  • Cannot install the updates, receive error message: automatic updates has been disabled by the administrator, but I don't.

Original title: How can I, as an administrator, turn on automatic updates, whenever I try, I get an error message saying that automatic updates has been disabled by the administrator.  I didn't do it, then?

    Question stands as is.

    Hello

    1. have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

    2. What antivirus application is installed on the computer?

    3. What are the different user accounts on the computer?

This problem occurs if Windows Update has been disabled by one of the following settings:

    · Group Policy

    · System policy
    · Registry

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1: Perform the clean boot and try to install the updates.

To do this, follow the steps in this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

NOTE: Once you check the functionality, follow the suggestions under steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state.

Method 2: Try to turn on the auto update by following the steps in the link below.

How to configure automatic updates by using Group Policy or of registry settings

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/328010

Registry warning: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Method 3: Turn off the antivirus application and try to download the updates and check.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 4: Perform a full scan of the computer using the following antivirus applications.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Malicious software removal tool: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    I hope this helps!
