  I had this problem for quite a long time. Initially, I thought that it was due to an update to Windows XP, but I couldn't find any message on newspapers when the laptop crashes. I reinstalled XP many times to get rid of any incompatibility related to the software, but even with a new installation, it was happening.

  I realized recently after several tests that the problem occurred more frequently when you move the mouse (trackpoint or touchpad) just after the start of the system (cold start or start of hibernation). • CS6 bridge crashes when you navigate to a folder that contains a GIF file

  Whenever I try to access a folder in the Bridge CS6 containing a GIF file, bridge breaks down.

  Moving the file in the folder (with viewfinder) stop the occurrence of the accident. I tried with several different GIF files, different ages, with or without animation. Any GIF file causes crash in ANY folder. Very frustrating that I cannot use the bridge to use no matter what file with a GIF file inside.

  I use Bridge CS6 5.0.1.21 (CC) on a Mac with os x 10.8.2.

  Seen another post suggesting using the 32-bit version instead of 64-bit, but it's a Windows thing.

  Anyone have any ideas?

  CS6 bridge crash when opening any file with a GIF in it for me too. I disabled all the scripts in the preferences, and it crashed is no longer. Then I activated the scripts one at a time and tested the behavior. Bridge not crash each time. When all the scripts have been activated, he has not yet crash.   Perhaps, your recovery disk is corrupt. What happens if you try with Windows disk copy?
