idea to trace execution - labview

Hi, I have worked with labview for the past month with the material

and the software.

I was wondering if there is a way to see the order of

execution of the vi... It would be nice to see on the block diagram has

system of reheating or dialing device or stream that indicates the order of the drop-down list

operation... I think that all this is done behind the scenes of labview... He could

be nice to have a trace or a label... perhaps that it exists... I'm getting

the book scientists and engineers... then maybe it's there... any help...

A simple programs is not a problem... I've seen some complex vi!

I guess I'm allows the old C programming... line by line...

Perhaps with time?

J

I have a lot of things to think about, this case is solved...

Thanks for any thoughts here...

  • Accuracy of execution LabVIEW debugger trace

    Hi all

I was debugging a program using track of execution (watch the bubbles...) and I noticed that all executed in a series. If there are two areas of a vi that are completely independent of each other, I thought that Labview would recognize and run these in separate threads. Thus, the Labview compiler actually creates these several threads for independent clusters of the code? In this case, the running trace does not show this multi-threading... is that everything is true?

I'm hoping to change the code already written and have performed in a few cases where I need to know exactly how the code is executed.

    Thanks for your help!

    -Mike

Backtrace is debugging tool (mainly to check that the right values go to the right places), except if the serial code, it is unlikely that running trace will do things in the same order as usual. LabVIEW can certainly run independent pieces of code simultaneously (it doesn't create topics for the independent code there various thread pools this cluster of code that can be assigned to when running), but with the trace on her runs in the series to track what happens more easily.

When the order of operations is not applied (thanks to things like the flow of data, motor action and the synchronization primitives), then different executions of the VI may have different orders. If the order of the questions, then you need to enforce (preferable it is written if you need a minimum of law enforcement), otherwise you get the errors of race conditions (which can be extremely intermittent and hard to find). When it comes to things like local variables are bad because they break the flow of data and order d ' more difficult run in addition to being slower than the son. I guess that your need to know exactly how the code is executed may be not applied when it should.

  • Overflow memory desktop trace execution toolkit

I tried to debug a few leaks of possible memory with running office toolkit.  And you know - the Toolbox crashes because it records events too! It seems not to be possible to get it to connect to the file, or to do anything else.

Apart from the taste of the irony that the Toolbox which is supposed to track memory leaks has't had this kind of protection - someone has managed to find a way around this?

(I know it's a problem of long duration with this tool kit - see http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/Improvements-to-the-Desktop-Execution-Trace-Toolkit/id... )

    JP

    Hi JP,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with the Toolkit of Trace Desktop performance.

What version of the DETT do you currently have? Make sure you use the latest version because there was a lot of changes on the different version released.

I noticed on the other post on the forum that you could change the number of events that it caps to. did you tried to change this setting? :

"The current implementation preserves all traces in the memory to keep possible fast pace of generated events.  There is a setting in the TraceTool.ini (MaxEvents = 4000000) file that specifies when the tool stops tracing because of too many traces. »

I tried to follow this tutorial with the USRP 2932, coming soon, but I found out later that I have seem to have none of the LabVIEW Communications. No not those who prevent me from using the USRP radio? If not, then is there any restrictions on what I can do with the radio without communication?

    Hi BreadLB,

The link to the tutorial you posted is based on LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite, a new software environment designed to accelerate the prototyping of the algorithm and stable air.  It is a completely separate and independent of LabVIEW environment.  See my post here for more details.  You can also download a free 30 day trial copy here.  Your hardware is supported with LabVIEW and LabVIEW Communications.

The 2932 NOR is a network based USRP, and there a small on-board FPGA.  For this reason, the FPGA on that specific product is not a target of LabVIEW FPGA.  The NI 294 x / 5 x family has a large Kintex 7 FPGA and can be programmed using LabVIEW FPGA and LabVIEW Communications, as in the tutorial you posted.  The 2932 OR can be used with your host PC and LabVIEW for a variety of applications.  Unfortunately the tutorial that you have linked to your post requires the NI 294 x / 5 x hardware and Communications of LabVIEW.  If you have questions about a specific application for your 2932, please post more details and we would be happy to help you.

  • small runtime for more recent versions of labview?

A few times in the past, I created simple LabVIEW autonomous executibles.  I did this in 8.6 and used minimum duration Engine Setup instead of the full version.  This resulted in a size of 30-35 Meg installation package.

Agin need to create a simple executable, but have not seen a minimum setup for any version of LabVIEW 8.6

Are there minimum runtimes for other versions?

The runtime default 2014 is Meg 264!  It is difficult to explain to a client why a simple "Hello World" program requires a 200 Meg download.

Jack Dunaway has documented a way to segment the execution engine, basically only, including parts which you need.

  • How to connect Labview to PLC Modicon Quantum (140 CPU 311 10) with Modbus

I was wondering if someone could give some tips on how to connect Labview to Modicon Quantum plc (the card is 140 CPU 10 311).  I am eager to serve a Labview HMI to control the controller that is used to implement the control PID with a VFD.  Currently I can communicate via Modbus to the API for programming using UnityPro XL, but I have no idea how to connect Labview.  I read the article on place OR "connect Labview to any PLC via Modbus", but I don't know yet.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Greener.

Communicate with the PLC via Modbus usually requires the Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module to have this feature available in LabVIEW. The white paper which indicated you using this module, which may explain why you can't get the communication at work. If this is something you don't have, and purchasing a license is not an option, then you might be able to use Modbus unofficial libraries to get the functionality you need. I have included a link below to a Modbus for LabVIEW library that you can try.

  • Uninstall/reinstall Labview after disk crash

    Hello

The question could have been invited already, but could not find an appropriate response, except to do something risky with the registry windows so I m asking my question here and apologize if a reply has already been given on this forum.

I bought and installed Labview home Bundle a few months ago. Last week, my secondary hard drive, which contains the application crashed, and I do not have a backup of this partition. Windows still runs on a separate DSS and always having traces of installed applications, among which, information about the previous installation of Labview.

"No problem' I think, ' I just re - download the installation package and try to reinstall it, like most other software, which simply replace existing information or re-use of old configuration data." Unfortunately, it did not work, and I have no trace of labview in the Menu Add/Remove Windows (except one "Instrument National software - this is the French version, I got" - brings me just an error when I try to use it, saying that Labview could already being uninstalled).

Re-installing just brings me to an error, as a result:

    -The intallation process goes OK

-The device drivers can not be installed (OK I did not at the time of any device)

-The installation process, explains the installation is ok, but in the end, one "error 2 could not perform action license Labview Application" appears.

-You try to start Lavview gives "the installation of this application is may be damaged. "Use Ad / remove programs in Control Panel to try to repair this program."

Is any "Clean Remover" tool available from the Canadian standard. Looks like a Rube Goldberg machine too me...

Thanks for any help I could get.

I'm on the similar when questions re-installation or repair of LabVIEW, and I found that the best way to remove software OR before a re - install is NOT using the Windows Add/Remove utility programs, but to use the NIUninstaller. If you managed to make at least a partial installation of LabVIEW, you probably have the NIUninstaller installed. On my system, it's in C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\Shared\NIUninstaller. Run the executable uninst.exe in there and it will remove any items not removed by Windows. Then try a new installation.

    Good luck.

    Dan

    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hi, thanks for the response. I found something similar on a Q & A of National instruments and already tried to find tha 'InstallValidator.exe' after I re-installed Labview, unfortunately, the NIuninstall folder / files were not installed with the National Instruments on my hard drive, so unfortunately, this solution does not work. I copied the NIUninstaller file (AND ONLY THAT) I found in the folder shared the LabVIEW to work and he give it a try. Don't know if its against National Instruments, policies, license and I apologize if it's, but having an app that I bought and can't install / reinstall is against my own policy. If the resettlement has be done right, the file would have been installed with the beam to origin. I know you if that does no good.

    EDIT:

In fact, it worked. The "InstallValidator.exe" did nothing aprt to tell me that the entrance of registrey was OK, even if it wasn't.

But the "uninst.exe' made work and installation from the Menu of repair that I couldn't access fixed front.

Thanks again for your help guys.

  • How can I use a front access and the access key to control the Boolean LabView shared variable?

My company has invested a lot of money on the desk to write a lot of many access databases and front-end network. I'm looking for a way to link a button on a front-end access to switch a shared Boolean variable of LabView to warn me when they changed something on their side of the network. I don't see everything that contributes to a search web or forum. They dislike the idea of control separate labview they need to rely on a button to let me know.

    Thank you

Alternatively, if all you care about, is that something in the MDB file has changed, you could do something simple like I LV to check the date of modification of the file to edit.

  • NOR-845 x driver Labview 2011 SP1

    Hi all

    I faced problem,

I have a LabView program that is used to communicate with devices SPI-NOR-8451. Program worked perfectly, on PC with LabView 2010. After that, I moved the program to new PC where f1 LabView 2011 SP1 has been installed. And now, I am not able even open - LabView program stuck on the white block diagram (not responding).

Program is complex and includes 10 ~ SubVis, which is packaged in the .llb file. I tried different things - to decompress from .llb, or run subVis themselves - for all the subVis, which include a part any communication NOR-8451, I've got stuck LabView. In addition, after the removal of NOR-845 x pilot, I can't ignore everything and load the program successfully, with '? ' instead of screws of NOR-845 x pallete.

In addition, when I'am tring from white VI and set NEITHER-845 x ref Device link (see attachment for details Link_on_ref_.jpg) on the block diagram, I'm LabView stuck - see the attached Stuck_.jpg.

    I use NEITHER-845 x driver 2.0, I tried to reinstall several times.

So, it's my suspicious that NEITHER-845 x driver 2.0 does not work for LabView f1 2011 SP1 - is it possible? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?

    Hi RangerOne,

Thanks for the trace, as LabVIEW is suspended, it is what I expected but hoped a different error code. If you could go to MAX and reset Configuration data, and then create a MAX Technical report and attach it.

If you open the test Panel, you run a query, it works or hang? Try to run a trace when you try to query.

I see the same error with the camera on my machine under interrupt in Pipe status is not abnormal.

I also noticed that your computer input for findlist, retcount and SrcName parameters have not the & on the non-working paper. I will continue to examine the reason why the & is not there and if it has an effect on the shot.

  • How to get a file created by windows labview to work on a mac

I try to open a data acquisition simple vi which was written in Labview 2009 for Windows, using the USB 6211 material. I installed Labview 2010 for Mac OS X (full) with NIDAQMX-Basic for Mac. The problem is that none of the sub - vi DAQMX opens correctly. I think it's because they have different names, for example in windows labview "DAQmx create Channel ' becomes 'DAQMXbase create a channel' or something like that. What is the problem? Installed the wrong DAQMX for Mac OS X?

    Hello oilyfingers,

As other users have posted, DAQmx Base and DAQmx are two different drivers.  It is recommended that Windows users install DAQmx on their PC.  However, a version of DAQmx Base also exists for the Windows environment.  Your VI is expected to require fewer changes after installing this driver.

    NEITHER DAQmx Base 3.4: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2126/lang/en

If you do not want to install DAQmx Base on Windows PC, it is a conversion utility that should help to automate the conversion of your VI of DAQmx Base DAQmx code.  This can be found in the link below:

    Conversion utility: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/446/lang/en

  • LabVIEW DLL called from C

I would like to create a DLL in LabVIEW which can be called from a C program.

The purpose of the DLL is to display a dialog box along side a C program user interface and view a picture is updated continuously in the program.

    The LabVIEW DLL would be

1 would be considered to be a dialog box that opens up along the side of the user interface of the C program.

    2. the DLL would regularly be called with the parameters passed by the C program.

    3. the dialog box would contains a picture that is updated by the parameters of the permanence of program C.

Is this feasible?  I assume that the DLL has to work like a demon, because the DLL is a dialog that must cover along the side of the user interface of C.  To run a DLL written in LabVIEW, is the needs of PC - the runtime?

Everything was OK until 5. For 6, you do not get a reference to something C. You simply call the exported function that is the VI 'set params.

I have included a sample project to give you an idea. The code LabVIEW is written in LV 8.2 and the project with a version of a DLL specification. I used c# for this example, but you can easily translate it c If you wish.

  • Using gateway requirements with LabVIEW classes

Does anyone know how to get the gateway requirements NOR read the coverage information of documentation contained in a class of LabVIEW (.lvclass)?

Requirements gateway seems to load the content of the fine documentation of screws, controls, .llb, .lvlib, .lvproj etc., but not .lvclass? My LabVIEW crash out when I try to bridge point requirements to a project with .lvclass files!

If this cannot be done then it is a great way to add coverage of the needs information (you know, the field "covers: ID") in the properties of the class, or something close to class perhaps, this gateway requirements can read?

    Thoric-

I believe that gateway requirements should be able to trace of LabVIEW Classes also covers long classes are added to a LabVIEW project and requirements gateway is configured in order to study the LabVIEW project. Here is a very primitive example that I restored from files in the directories of the prescriptions and example LabVIEW gateway.

    I hope this helps.

  • The control unit - until I get starts.

    Gidday,.

    * hope it's the right place in the message boards *.

I'm designing software in Labview for control device. Editing I design is used to test the buttons on a product.

The low-level commands are managed by a microcontroller that is round, press x or product removal position y.

I have drawn a few screws (attached) to generate high level for the microcontroller to process command strings.

Before that I build the main VI there are two phases. Manual control, where the operator can press the (Boolean) MISTLETOE and make something happen by sending the right order in the microcontroller. Phase II is a cycle where multiply orders will be sent in the order and repeated several cycles (serveral thousand times) ~ a process automated.

    ***

I would like to know if there is anything that I should know as I proceed with the creation of handmade VI, LabVIEW and the time of long durations (2 months at a time running and the data record).

Is there a problem with the help of screws custom several times.

The idea was to use the "stringfunctiongenerator" in a sequence and find only entered the need for local variables.

Finally, the microphone will return a command 'busy' or 'free' to let me know what happens and whether or not I can send a command.

I'm attacking the project in blocks. know how to draw coms series vi. plot data logging.iv and then putting them together.

    Hi Kamian,

People leave labview running for years without problems. You, however, will definitely want to check for problems before you deploy a program memory. A slow memory leak will use the memory on the computer and possibly cause an accident. If you have the tool execution trace for labview installed (check tools-> profile-> execution Trace) you can do this automatically, otherwise just monitor memory that labVIEW uses in the Manager of tasks in a few weeks and see if it is on the rise. The biggest cause of the cause of the leaks memory is people don't close not references to objects. In addition, if you don't store data in a file fast enough you will use until your RAM fairly quickly.

Your design looks like it is on the right track. You might consider doing your 'Action' control a typedef and an Enum instead of a control of the chain. The typedef will make it easier to update your code and the Enum are easier to perform logic operation with.
