  Hello Jon Wayne,

  I suggest that you try to do the system restore on your computer. You can follow the steps below to do a restore of the system on your computer:

  a. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.

  b. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

  (c) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

  d. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

  e. click Finish.

  Make sure that you choose a restore point prior to the point when you started to have the question before download the Linksys driver.

  I recently acquired the XP Home Security 2012 the virus and have successfully removed from my system.  The problem that I have that seems to be giving me trouble is that my Windows Update will not work.  Is - it caused by virus or totally independent and new 2012?  I downloaded the Microsoft Fix It and the convenience store that seems to solve my problem does not seem to be available. Any ideas?

  I followed all of your suggestions, but unfortunately did not solve the problem.

  I had read somewhere that when you remove the XP Home Security 2012 virus that some files may be damaged.  One of the things is that the viruses is hijack your browser and close your existing antivirus protection.  Since the virus does not want to communicate with Microsoft, I went on the road from the corrupted file.  It turns out I was right.  I was able to restore the corrupt System 32 file registry branches and now I'm able to download my updates.

  Sometimes these issues are quite the "needle in a haystack."

  Thanks again for your help.  I learned quite a lot from this experience.

  • I am running Windows 7 for packs SP 1 or SP 2 does NOT solve my problem since neither one works with Windows 7.  Is there a way to search for this MUI (Multiple User Interface) missing file? The every thing must have himself installed in the first place. I took my mom (she died in June) and my brother on this PC as users so even if they do not use this PC supports multiple users. Maybe if I deleted as a reboot and additional users it will solve my problems. My updates install OK but I can't run at all system restore.     OK I tried everything and nothing works! Only added beginners are updated browser Opera 10.63; IE9 (Beta); Firefox 3.6.12 and Google Chrome 7.0.517.41 and Java 22. Of course like everyone else in the world, I had to uninstall/enable and disable/download again and reinstall new Adobe Flash 10 and 11 of the shock wave and they keep crashing too! Hello 4 keep screwing browsers and now I get connection network problems. I run Comcast doctor and did everything it said to do, but nothing works. Oh and I added 7-Zip and WinZip also.   Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) will NOT fix it!

  (a) update you are trying to install? (It would be better, if you can provide the number of KB)

  (b) are the other updates related to Windows from installing on your computer?

  I suggest you try the following steps:

  Step 1: Disable the software security and then try to install the update

  Note: Activate security software once the test is completed.

  Step 2: Download and install the update in the clean boot state

  To perform a clean boot on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps.

  1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

  2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

  3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

  4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

  5. click on OK.

  6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

  After starting the computer, download the update manually and try to install it.

  Note: Return the computer to normal - reset the computer to start as usual (follow step 7 in the link) once everything is done.

  Check if you have errors associated with updates?
