  Our environment is the round base HP BL460c G5 blades, backtracked several outputs spacewalks for storage and running ESX 3.5 (installed locally) that is deployed via Altiris/HP RDP & kickstart scripts.

  We had a challenge with it originally, as production LUN could get watered whenever we had to rebuild an ESX host. Remove CF of the environment of the installation drivers did a great job to prevent this.

  I, like many others I guess, makes use of an excellent paper titled 'Install VMware ESX3 without isolating the SAN' written by members of communities Véronic and initially hosted on xtravirt.com (this document seems to now have disappeared on the net, unfortunately).

  I get a lot of job opportunities for VCPs with storage capacities. I work with the directors of storage on all commitments but don't go or experience. Which storage certification I should continue to allow me to work as a PCV with extra storage responsibilities? My experience has been with EMC, NetApp and 3Parr on fiber, NFS, and iSCSI. What training and certification provider would be better or at least the first to continue?

  I am trying to identify virtual machines that are on local disks on specific esx hosts, but can't seem to find the right combination or references that map the.  I'm ready to use all means available to help identifiening, console, vcli linux commands etc.  Any help or pointers appriciated.

  Right now, I don't think there is a way to get the parameter of the BIOS with the SDK boot drive.  The other question is do you want the diskette or the OS Disk/Partition?  For the OS Partition/disk, you will need to query the GuestOS through VIX or any other interface and then that correlate with the SCSI Disk Device in your virtual inventory.

  If you just need the boot drive, you can make the assumption that it is SCSI 0:0.  It would change only by the intervention of the user manual via the BIOS of the virtual machine (F2 at startup).  This assumption is not guaranteed, but it is likely be accurate, most of the time.  I vaguely remember some talk around adding functionality to control the order of boot devices in BIOS of the virtual machine with automation.  If it is added, it would be possible to detect and change the order of boot through a script or a program.

  Something like the following would let you determine the location of the device node and vmdk file:

  If you need drivers, follow these steps:
  1. in the run box, type devmgmt.msc.

  And I have a different ESXi4 host with a local hard drive, I don't have this problem.

  Do you use frames? If so, how you have configured the MTU size to the physical switch?

• LUN ID Question - Adding storage

  Hello

  I have a question for the LUN ID that appears in Virtual Center 2.5 when you add storage to an ESX host.  When I go in stock add and select my LUN newly created in the list, it continues to display LUN ID 0.  This isn't the logical unit number ID that matches the LUN ID in the Dell SAN.  The other LUN, first one that has been created in my storage ESX group is set to LUN ID 11, also, it does not match the LUN ID in the Dell SAN.

  The LUN ID is important at all?  Why the first created LUN LUN ID 11?  This leads me to think that maybe I should not attempts to use LUN ID 0 for anything.

  This is probably a stupid question, but I want to just make sure that there is nothing wrong with the help of LUN ID 0 for this new storage.  If I shouldn't use LUN ID 0, how VirtualCenter to allow me to change the identification number of the logic unit number?

  The ID of LUNS ESX gives your storage space and the Lun ID that gives dell storage are two separate things that are inconsistent with each other.  ESX sets its own LUN ID which are very good, we have LUN ID 0 and 1 no problem here

• Storage of BLOB data with my own procedure

  I'm like again on APEX, already search the forum and have not found anything about me.
  I have a procedure that inserts a new record on a table, this new record has a BLOB column. The procedure also makes some validations and inserts to other tables (totally independent, but it depends on the unique identification number generated for the line where is the BLOB) in parallel.
  
  I want to know if I use my own procedure to insert a new BLOB it will fill the filename, mimetype, last_update and character_set columns? or, who can only be done using the predetermined form wizard APEX offers, with the treatment of automatic line (DML).
  
  I really need to use my cause of procedure that I have some additional validation and I depends on the unique ID that is generated in real time, and I don't think that there is a way to change an automatic line treatment.
  
  And if I create a parallel process, how can I get the same APEX ID just used for the line with the file Blob, to update with more information that I need to store after posting it?
  
  I thought to get the last ID generated to go back and insert that did my procedure, but this can be risky because another user may be to insert a new record of blob at the same time.

  I have CS5 installed on my Mac, running OS X Lion 10.7.5 i. Using Firefox, I had problems with Adobe TV and the other educational video, however some of the video promoting the new products don't work (not all), but when I right click the menu gives me an option that tells flash player 11. anything that works. I uninstalled and reinstalled the version provided with my CS5 Design Premium, only to be told that I have to update my flash player, when I then even that nothing happens again to play the video.

  I can however run the video on my iPad 2 with Safari, have not put up, but with Firefox. It becomes a real pain to make room on my desk to see two screens so that I can use the tutorials, videos and advice while working on various programs. I checked all questions in the forum who have something close to my problem to solve the problem. Unfortuately none of the suggestions posted so far have helped.

  I created a custom B2b management document. For the customized document, I gave version, name of doc, doc definition as "custom".
  
  I created hosts, remote partners, agreements and deployed.
  
  I placed an xml (from xsd) file in the ftp folder. B2B reads the file in the folder ftp and gives error of identification Document Protocol. Please let me know if the steps I am following is correct?
