  For example, I want to change the shape of rectangle to oval, press and hold on the shape of rectangle (default) will not give access to the other options of shape.  Or, for another example, the text tool will not allow access to type on a path options.

  I copied images of 3 different layers in Photoshop into Illustrator. One is an overview, another is a color fill and the last is a filled ellipse. When you try to use the eyedropper tool to get a color used in the fill color, it does not only show black or white. But he'll be looking for the fill color of the ellipse. It captures the other colors in the end document that I drew in Illustrator.

  Any idea what I need to do to make this work? I am at a loss.

  I think I knew what was going on. The pipette was picking up only the color of the outline layer so only became black when on a sketch and white when it is on the color fill area. If I delete the outline and left only the fill color and the pink background, the pipette works. The outline was blocking the pipette to access to the color fill. Don't know exactly how it works as the outline is not filled with color (obviously, otherwise the color fill below wouldn't show through). It is not completely transparent - it is just a preview.

  They are all copied to a new document on the same layer, but grouped. So I have to either remove the outline layer or disable in the - I'm not sure of the terminology here - layers that are in the layer (?).

  I do this a mascot logo creation and make the colors and trying to fade/lighten things a bit mind tool degraded. The tool worked perfectly well worked for the gears, but for some reason that I can't do the same for the other, none of the circular figures of the mascot. It doesn't matter if I select linear or radial type. When I try to click on the selected object with the gradient in the gradient line tool disappears when I release the mouse left click button and returns to what you see in the first picture, like nothing happened. All solutions?

  First picture shows my problem. The second picture shows what I realized with the gears and I want finally to achieve with other objects.

  

  Select the object, and then in panel appearance using the fly on the clear appearance menu, now try the tool grad. An easy way to set the object on a simple grad would be to select the object and press the decimal point at the bottom right of the ten key numeric keys.

  I read answers to similar questions about the failure of the cutting tool.  I use the tool cutting regularly and I think it's a fantastic tool in Windows. I have Vista Ultimate and all my windows updates have managed: none were not installed correctly, and I did not install new programs or hardware.  It seems that Microsoft knows the snipping tool does not - why can't they simply provide an update patch to correct the problem, rather than make us do all the work.  I don't have to go through hoops of restorations etc to get something it seems work was broken by updates.  I'm about to go to a Mac.

  This should be the final resolution to my problem of Snipping Tool/print screen:

  1. I downloaded and ran the Malwarebytes program as recommended.  And BTW, I don't see this recommendation here.  I'm fairly new participant in Forums, so maybe there's a reason that I see here this recommendation I don't know.  The Malwarebytes has really done his job and even if I run MS Essentials program found Malwarebytes 25 hits of Mal-ware on this PC.  Once I have it fixes these problems, the symptoms of my problem of Snipping Tools became less consistent.

  2 but the final resolution is that it turns out that there is that one Internet site where the tool captures will not work and it is my Bank.  I know that my Bank suggested I run a program called safety report.  It's my theory that is my bank site or report has something programmed into it that prevents screen either with the tool to capture and print screen captures.  If I go into my bank site with Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, the Snipping Tool will not work.  However, the Snipping Tool works everywhere else.  It's all the other websites and in other programs.

  Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode.   The align tool does not see the items generated, because they are not real paths. There is nothing wrong or unusual here. Form operatirs wirk on rendering / pixelation level, they may not generate paths. You must align things manually.
