• During the installation of a program, receive the error message that Windows Installer is not installed properly on Vista

I tried to install a program and I got an error message that says "Windows Installer" is not installed correctly and I need to contact the support staff. I get also a message when I log that says steetings.ini is occupied by another program and it will not allow the sidebar to come.

Try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to troubleshoot the problem with Windows Installer:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml.

For the issue of the Sidebar, do a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem. Follow the procedures described in the article. Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall. Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

@Charles ABurton: I have shared your question in the other thread so that it can be managed with less confusion. Please provide details of your problem, including which version of Windows 7 you have (including 32-bit or 64-bit) and why you are looking for this particular stri8ng in regedit.

Have you seen this article--> https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2642495?wa=wsignin1.0 If Yes, what happened when you followed the instructions.

I also I have a problem installing programs. I get the notice "could access the windows service install. There is no 'MSIserver\WOW64' in regedit, and 'windows install' does not exist in the service. So far, none of the fixes work for me so I am at a loss.

Windows Installer keeps trying to install msi.status but it will not install and I think he got the other updates to the installation. How difficult or get rid of it?

Hello
In my view, that it is a software HP printer problem. Please, try the following:

If you have the HP software on your PC support (printers, etc.)
the disc when the pop-up window displays a location '1'. Click Browse
then open the HP disc in the CD drive. A named icon status should
appear. Click on this icon and load. This will get rid of the
Status.msi loop.

If you do not have the original disc. Uninstall HP Photosmart all-in-One Driver software and HP update program - then only reinstall the HP Photosmart all-in-One Driver software. Do not update, just live with it. The web link for the full features of the software download is provided below.

Windows Installer 4.5 is available:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/942288

Method 3: Unsubscribe and re - register the Windows Setup program.

a.Click Start, click Run, type MSIEXEC /Unregister. and then click OK. Even if you do it right, it may seem that nothing is happening.

b start, click Run, type MSIEXEC/REGSERVER, and then click OK. Even if you do it right, it may seem that nothing happens, or you can briefly see an hourglass. After you run this command, the operation is complete.

c.Try your application based on Windows Installer again.

Once the software is installed, it will not be removed under normal circumstances.

I do not know if your computer is still infected and it is removed or the problem is that you can't 'see' photoshop' but it is always installed.

to verify this, check the installation directory and check its size on your hard drive.

Hi Keith,

You won't be able to re - install using the discs and the number of series that you used initially, but we have a solution.

The activation for more server CS2 is no longer in service. For this reason, we did a version of these titles of software available that doesn't require activation. This is for users who already buy the software. For more details and specific links for the software, please see the following link:

Activation server stops for Creative Suite 2 and Acrobat 7 product Macromedia

Instead of your old serial number, use the one shown next to the download link: download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

• Not all installed programs appear in "programs and features".

A few days ago, I installed GTA IV with all components like Rockstar Social Club, Games for Windows and things related as update for .net 3.5 SP1 and so on. Since then, whenever I open the "programs and features" dialog box (I dunno if it's the correct name because I use a German, Vista Ultimate SP1...) the dialog box shows some of the installed programs and the scanning process remains active all the time. In the Task Manager, the explorer.exe shows a 99% CPU usage, and that's all. Even after a few hours, it's the same thing. Is this a known issue? Y at - it advice or ideas (other then reinstall Vista ;)?

Marcus

Hello again Marcus!

I was wondering a few things...

You never said if your system meets the minimum requirements for installation of GTA IV...

Namely:

• Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz, AMD Athlon X 2 64 2.4 Ghz
• Memory: 1.5 GB
• Space free hard drive: 16 GB
• Video card: 256 MB NVidia 7900 / 256 MB ATI X 1900
• DirectX 9-compatible stereo sound card
• Keyboard
• Mouse

If your system does not meet the minimum requirements, alone could cause 99% CPU usage and problems to run the game.

In addition, I never asked before, but I wanted to know if you were trying to uninstall GTA IV when you are looking for in "programs and features"?

If you're still having problems, I suggest to uninstall GTA. If you don't see it in programs and features, you can download the following Microsoft utility and use it to uninstall GTA.

Windows Install CleanUp Utility: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301

This will have to be run in XP compatibility mode in Vista

To run a program in compatibility mode:

1. Right click on the shortcut for the item.
2. Click on Properties
3. Click on the compatibility tab.
4. Check the run this program in compatibility mode for , and then select the version of Windows, the program has been designed for the list. If you don't know what the program is designed for, try Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
5. Click OK

After uninstalling GTA, see if you have the same problems of use of CPU...

• HRESULT: 0 X 80070424. When you try to install programs.

I just got a new computer, it's running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I cannot install the updates, however, I'm having a lot of trouble to install programs. I can install some programs such as media player VLC and SongBird, however, I can not install Itunes, MS office 2007, or the beta version of MS office 2010.

I get this error when you try to install Itunes:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version = "8.0.50727.4053", type = "win32", publicKeyToken = "1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" processorArchitecture = "x 86". See Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0 X 80070424.

And the same "HRESULT: 0 x 80070424." error when you try to install office.

For the Microsoft.VC90.ATL, click the following article and follow the resolution.

• installation uninstall problems under xp pro. Fix, he says: go, not in Add Remove. don't leave me not re install program

Due to a major accident due to the power failure during the installation of the driver updates, I had to re install a good large number of programs, one being intelitype pro.

Made the normal elimination with add and remove, but kept having the program stopped asking for the disc, even if it was in the player and had been directed to it many times. The program kept appearing and disappearing in the Add/Remove window. It was not found in the programs. Finally turned to fix. I found patches corrupted in the registry and these as well as other repaired registry issues. He also said that it had removed the software. In re boot and attempt to re installation, I found myself back at the beginning, except that this time, that the file is that neither in the programs, nor add it delete window. What I'm doing.

(The accident seems to have illiminated one of my portable usb drive. It does not show in the Device Manager. Just, it's sitting there and a strident sound; "but that is another problem).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• start to > all the programs menu is missing from installed programs. admin user account disappeared.

From the start > all the Programs window miss me all the Microsoft Office programs that are installed on my computer. Some other installed programs are missing in this menu. In which case I have shortcuts on my desktop, programs are always accessible and functional. Also my administrator account is missing, although my account has administrator privileges. When this happened there was a wink to my office and some icons have disappeared while that others moved around. I have loaded the disc of MS Office and ran repair without result.

Hello swuser, welcome.

What it sounds like, is that Windows creates a new user with admin access account and then migrate parts of your data on. This is probably due to corruption on the part of your "old" user account

My suggestion, rather that to re - install all your programs, would be to simply make a copy of your desktop shortcuts and drag them into the START > all programs >... destinations.

If you need find the shortcuts for some programs, we can tell you where programs actually exist in Windows. Let us know exactly what it is you are missing and we can see if we can help you.

Regarding Microsoft Office, you can find the actual programs by visiting here:

1. click on START
2. click on 'my computer '.
3. double-click on "disk Local (c)"
4. double click on "Program Files".
5 double click on "Microsoft Office".
6 double-click on "Office12".
7. find "WinWord12.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
8. find "Excel.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
9 find "PowerPnt.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
10. find "Outlook.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
11 go ahead and find the rest of the Office applications in this folder. Follow the same instructions as above. Most of the Office applications have some identifiable names (such as Microsoft Access = Access.exe)
