IMP/exp and charactersets

We have been important (not datapump) export with a provider, and it appeared at the top of the log file:
import done in WE8ISO8859P1 character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
import server uses AL32UTF8 character set (possible charset conversion)
export client uses US7ASCII character set (possible charset conversion)
Previously, we only used expdp/impdp and then only between our servers configured in the same way. What kind of problem that can create, if any?

Thank you

  • exp and imp in a sql script

    Hello

    I want to develop a sql script contains both code for the creation and insertion on a table and the exp command to export this table.
    Do you have an idea how integrate the command exp and imp in the sql script.

    Thank you.

    Edited by: Andrew1 Nov. 11. 2009 02:33

    This should be easy under Windows.

    Put the #1 and #2 in separate text files (.sql as use ending), for example create_table_web_enfants1.sql

    Create a batch (.cmd use as ending) file when you call these sql files, for example setup.cmd

    sqlplus /@ @create_table_web_enfants1.sql
    ...

    Add your exp returns to your command file

    and STI test.

    BTW: I'm going to assume that you post any real names of user/passwords to a production company database in your example, if not, you have broken some rules concerning the said database access security.

  • language of stdout IMP/exp

    Hi all

    I'm interested in changing language exp or imp log files? Oracle version is 10.2.0.4.0, version of the OS is Win 2k3R2.

    I have Oracle DB installed on the OS of the Hungarian language and when starts a command exp, I get the log on the Hungarian language file. I need language stdout for utility imp/exp on English. Can I do this?
    For as far as I know language stdout to query for the current session sqlplus can be changed with alter session set nls_language = ENGLISH.

    A little demonstration:

    current log file:
    . . . . .
    . . a következo tábla exportálása:                         A          3 sor exportálva
    . . a következo tábla exportálása:                         B          2 sor exportálva
    . . a következo tábla exportálása:                         C          0 sor exportálva
    . . . . .
    desired logfile:
     . . . . .
    . . exporting table                       A          3 rows exported
    . . exporting table                       B          2 rows exported
    . . exporting table                       C          0 rows exported
    . . . . .
    TNX in advance.

    Before walking exp or imp (and why use exp and imp?)

    Set nls_lang =_.

    Don't know why but it seems that it is "Question Doc day" again.

  • IMP/exp expdp/impdp vs

    Hi all;
    which is better in performance the traditional exp/imp or expdp/impdp?

    Hello

    Oracle Data Pump is a more recent, rapid and flexible alternative to utilities 'exp' and 'imp' used in previous versions of Oracle. In addition to export and import of basic feature data pump provides a PL/SQL API and support for external tables

    If Oracle is recommended for all 10g databases and more use of Data Pump and pre 10g use old exp/imp :)

  • imp exp/full FUL grant allows select u / drop all tables... How to avoid this?

    Hi all

    We do nightly exp as our backup for certain pattern... and shell script we used the password hardcoded in the script system and we want to avoid this... so I try to create another user who can make exp/IMP... and what's my user statement like... to give full grant create imp exp/full...

    CREATE test USER
    IDENTIFIED BY THE VALUES OF 'PASS '.
    DEFAULT TABLESPACE USERS
    TEMPORARY TEMP TABLESPACE
    DEFAULT PROFILE
    RELEASE OF ACCOUNT;
    -3 roles for test
    GRANT IMP_FULL_DATABASE TO test.
    GRANT CONNECT TO test;
    GRANT permission TO test;
    Test of ALTER USER DEFAULT ROLE;
    -1 privilege system for test
    GRANT UNLIMITED TABLESPACE TO test;

    but now, here's the thing... This test user is able to query every single table in any schema... or drop something... . How can I stop that...

    all I want to do for test user is exp/imp and nothing else... the user can select on any table but cannot modify or drop whatever it is... what according to give for it? some exp/IMP...

    If not, how can I avoid hard codding the password in my shell script? Can I have one parfile but then again who will need to have the password... and we try to avoid that...

    Anyone (with the appropriate privileges) can import the dump file later. You wouldn't need the TEST user to be able to import the file. If the only thing that the TEST user generates a FULL dump file = a, then the user would only need permission privileges. If the user does not have a full export because you're that concerned about a few diagrams, the user didn't even need permission privileges.

    And I did not understant what the user will not end? User does not question.
    Fromuser and touser, can I write the same thing? POVILASORA? Because in orkanew is where no user such as POVILASORA.

    Do an export of user level exports only the objects for this user.

    When you import, it does not create the user that you are stating in your touser clause.

    You must create the povilasora user manually on your destination database. Your import will run successfully.

    Only if you perform a full export import create users that you then try to import as is the importation of system level that creates the users.

  • 9i exp and Imp to 10g

    Hello

    I updated my version of DB from 9i to 10g. Now I need to export data from the Database 9i to 10 DB g. IM afraid if I have to add in some conditions to the export and import of order. Here is the command I want to make a request, if it's not good, could you correct me please.

    Journal/password system exp = $EXPORTS_LOG full = y direct buffer = y = 1000000 COHERENT = Y

    Thank you

    As you perform a FULL export, you need an account with DBA privileges or permission. Therefore, you must connect as a SYSTEM to export.

    If you were doing an export of a single SCHEMA, you would do an export of the USER. In this case, you can connect as a SYSTEM or the real user who is to be exported.

  • Exp and Imp are very slow

    We have a system in version 9.2.8 leagcy and export and import are very slow. It takes almost 3 hours to 30 GB of data. Is there a way we can do it quickly? HELPPP me.

    EXPORT:

    Set the buffer setting to a high value (e.g. 2Mb - entered as an integer "2000000")
    Set the RECORDLENGTH parameter to a high value (e.g. 64 KB - entered as an integer "64000")
    Use DIRECT = yes (direct mode export)
    Stop unnecessary applications to free resources for your work.
    If you run multiple sessions of export, ensure the different physical disks, write.
    Do NOT export to a mounted NFS filesystem. It will take forever.

    You have two choices

    1. place the export file in the location/u02/app/oracle/admin/lsgdev/dpdump and then run the import.

    2. create a directory in the database (see CREATE a DIRECTORY ) pointing to/u02/app/oracle/admin/lsgdb/dpdump , and then call impdp using this directory.

  • exp and audit_trail parameter

    Hello
    I want to exp in the database. But I feel, I have not all tables in my dmp file. Because when I have imp this file I receive almost half of all tables, which must be after the import. In fact, I have a question: how the audit_trail parameter can affect this problem. I can handle this setting?

    Why I asked if you checked the export, it is because it is a known fact that exp will not export the tables that are present, but have zeros 0 if the source database had DEFERRED_SEGMENT_CREATION enabled (and enabled by default).

    Hi H. Christy

    As you mentioned in the previous post, your database schema source GSW has segments in the following storage spaces;

    SQL > select tablespace_name distinct from dba_segments where owner = 'GSW ';

    TABLESPACE_NAME

    ------------------------------

    USERS

    SYSTEM

    When you import, you specify:

    REMAP_TABLESPACE = SYSTEM: GSW

    But the import process fails with:

    ORA-39083: TABLE object type: 'GSW '. "' REPORTS ' unable to create with the error:

    ORA-00959: tablespace 'GSW' does not exist

    Above means GSW tablespace must be created in the target database because you specify that all segments of the SYSTEM tablespace must be redirected (created) in tablespace GSW.

    Also, you must rewrite your import like this command:

    Impdp gsw/pass remap_tablespace = SYSTEM: GSW remap_tablespace = the rΘpertoire of USERS: GSW dumpfile = gsw.dmp = dmpdir

    Then, you must restart all import process in the target database:

    SQL> CREATE TABLESPACE gsw .......

    SQL> drop user gsw cascade;
    SQL> create user gsw identified by pass;
    SQL> grant connect, resource to gsw;
    SQL> grant read, write on directory dmpdir to gsw;
    SQL> grant create database link to gsw;

    impdp gsw/pass remap_tablespace=SYSTEM:GSW remap_tablespace=USERS:GSW dumpfile=gsw.dmp directory=dmpdir
