Implementation of electronic networks for ESX 3.5 with iSCSI?

Well, I'll have a bit of a problem here...

I have 3 VLAN:

ID

1 - network management

2 - iSCSI network

3 - production or Guest OS Communication LAN

I can't figure out how to get properly configured ESX or something because my iSCSI storage is not being discovered. Can someone guide me on how my network cards should be configured? I have 6 network adapters and possibly their sticks, but for now I wanted to 1 for ESX management, 1 for iSCSI and 1 for the virtual computer network if that makes sense. If there is a better please let me know, but I defnitely want to configure my iSCSI is own VLAN (2). I have been through a few docs and can't make it work... Thank you...

  • Implementation of the array for esx server

    Hello everyone:

    This is my first post here, and I'm a newcomer to virtualization. I've seen given the task of putting in place an esx server. Now, I need to configure a processor computer double hearts HP DL380. I need to set up a 20 GB partition for esx and the rest of the disk space for the second partition for the VMs.

    My question is, what is the best configuration of raid for this scenario.

    Thank you.

    The best option will be to go for RAID 5 (HP RAID DDG), if you want a higher level of redendany (2 disk failures) go for RAID ADG (RAID 6). I recommend that you create a table and two driving logic. A first for the ESX operating system and second to the VMFS. VMFS to allocate a larger share.

  • No adapters network for ESX 5.5 Installation

    I hope someone can give me an answer I can use to try to get this working.

    I try to install ESX 5.5 on a PC additional I have laying around my house and I've known nothing else problems with the network adapter. I use an Asus P68V-Pro motherboard with a processor Intel 2500 k and Intel PCI - E network card.

    I originally tried to install with built-in Intel Gigabit Ethernet port and was getting a similar error, so I went out yesterday and bought a PCI-E card I know is supported by ESX 5.5 I have 2 friends with the same card it runs without any problems. Reviews of the card that I managed to find also seem to support this. My motherboard supports virtualization and my processor is on a list of the compatible CPU for Hyper-V and VMWare.

    But every time I try to run the installation it pops up with the NETWORK CARDS WITHOUT error and cancels the installation. Is there a way to force drivers to be detected during the installation, or ignore the prompt for access to the network in order to install it and then manually transfer the drivers more later?

    Ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated, as I seem to have run out of good on my end.

  • Nested ESXi 5.5 lab for the SRM demo with iSCSI

    Hi all

    I was wondering if it is possible to install ESXi in ESXi 5.5 5.5 make recovery of the Server Tier - 1 Microsoft with Site Recovery manager?

    So level 1 server applications are: Exchange Server, SQL Server, SharePoint Server and AD DC servers with 5 x test Win 7 desktop.

    The external data store to the VMFS will take place by iSCSI NAS connected to the physical server.

    Any suggestion and input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    One thing you'll want to do is to make sure that use you VSphere switches distributed on your cluster nested to ESXi hosts so that you can use the network i/o control (NIOC). For me, I put iSCSI to high priority traffic and everything to normal priority.

    With the help of the NIOC will allow your cluster nested in order to operate more fluidly than without it.

    My SRM 5.x laboratory is fully nested - probably not supported in a production environment where supported VMware should however.

    Here's a blog post of Ather Beg on its results by using the nested NIOC and ESXi hosts - it is the reduction of the spikes that Ather blog article shows that made work nested ESXi hosts networks so much better:

  • Is there a correct configuration of network for the ESX host computers

    Have a VC server and 2 ESX 3.5 hosts. Each host is filled with 6 cards.

    Three VLANs are created:

    The VM network for traffic Server

    Vmotion: for Vmotion traffic

    Management VLan: For traffic management

    The network adapters on each host have been assigned as follows:

    2 network cards - the VM network

    2 NICs - Vmotion & Service Console

    2 NICs - ? How can I use them for? Service console?

    What I am doing wrong?

    Yes, #3 is required for vmotion vmkernel type. Then that VLAN allows them to route in the end, it is not necessary for them to communicate. and Yes, SC is the management network

  • Best practices for the implementation of environment laboratory in ESX 3.5

    Hi all

    I currently have two systems ESX 3.5 in a dmz on a network for a lab environment. The place has a few other external servers such as dc, servers, exchange, ect, so even if it is in a demilitarized zone and a controlled DMZ network I want to ensure that the ESX 3.5 systems are in a sandbox environment. They need 1 external network adapter so that the virtual machine can download patches ect but the rest of the communication, I would like to be established between the VM internally. In other words, in a world of VM Workstation 6 I would have only 1 bridged network adapter but all others would be articulate under internal network cards.   This lab will be available for a lot of people like someone not running a DHCP server or a new domain controller which could knock out the other test environments in the demilitarized zone.

    How would you put this together with the vswitches? is Director of the laboratory, the best way to do this?

    To my knowledge there is no way "internal" to do. Workstation is by design the use of test/development and not the production-oriented and therefore the set of features is different from ESX (i).

  • Help networking running ESX (i) in the VM Workstation

    Hi everyone-

    Hope someone can help.

    I have ESX (i) running in the VM Workstation on my laptop. My problem is that I can't move from my laptop to the domestic VMs. The route correctly on VMs inside and I can communicate back and forth with ESX just cannot access the internal VMs from my laptop. I can ping the default gateway of my laptop workstation VM virtual network editor implements.

    -On promiscuous mode

    -Tried several options with nic, vSwitch and VM workstation network Editor.

    Any ideas on how to Setup network for this config? Goal is to be able to RDP to internal VMs.

    Thank you

    Jason

    This should be pretty easy - please show a screenshot of your network virtual Editor settings.

    Here is all I have to do on the ESXi vmnet0 for example ethernet card

    the host can have the IP 10.0.0.1, the ESXi then takes 10.0.0.2 and the nested VM gets 10.0.0.3
    I don't have to manually set routes at all

    It should also work with vmnet0 and DHCP for three - assuming you have a DHCP server that is connected to the bridged the host network adapter

    during troubleshooting, turn off the firewall host and the nested VM

  • Network for NFS

    Hello

    I have infrastructure as follows;

    2 welcome each containing 6 1Gig speed NIC each.

    A NAS storage with 4 NIC

    Two L2 Switches (managed HP).

    Planning to run it by the best recommendations and requirements, so that there should not be a SPOF any level.

    So keeping this in mind, we have designed to use ports on each server as follows:

    2 for the NFS storage, 2 for Production management and 2 others for vMotion on each server.

    A cable from each port configured for respective roles goes uplink switch1 and switch2, so if a switch goes down we still have the other switch support.

    Separated VLAN is configured by the switch to different types of traffic.

    My question as below;

    Should I team two ports on each vSS.If so that what should be the parameters for NETWORK adapters for the production, storage, and vMotion network grouping (keeping in mind cables going to switch uplink separated).

    Should I keep adapter in active-standby or active-active mode.

    I didn't think any specific settings to link pass that one cable by a single port is to go there and I don't have the choice of the channel of the ether or LACP.

    In addition, vmware license is essential and having therefore no possibility to use dynamic switches.

    Consider using 5.5.0.

    Also do you propose to use frames as well in the present.

    Kind regards

    Sushil

    Hello

    I suggest always you put management and vMotion on the same set of natachasery management and workloads. It makes no difference where they are subnet a perspective.  I also suggest to read the following:

    Who should you get.

    natachasery have no IP address in a vSphere environment, they act as a link between a physical and virtual switch. According to the way which you the trunk your VLAN Trunk ends pSwitch (external switch tagging) or the virtual switch (switch virtual tagging). Most people master their VLAN to the virtual switch.

    You want something like the following:

    pSwitch <->pNIC0 <->[ <->Portgroup vSwitch0] <->management (subnet1)

    pSwitch <->pNIC1 <->[ <->Portgroup vSwitch0] <->vMotion (subnet2)

    When switching between pNIC0 and pNIC1 management and vMotion end up on the same bear but when normally run that they remain separated. It is the recommended method. In this case you would master the VLAN to the vSwitch. I know some people who just do not use VLANs, but who use only separate subnets and it works as well.

    pSwitch <->pNIC2/pNIC3 <-> <->Portgroup vSwitch1 (s) <->of workloads (subnet1)

    If you use VLANs (except for vMotion) you're trunking to vSwitch1 (virtual switch tagging). If subnet1 is on the same vSwitch and the trunk is correct via pSwitch ports so he can talk to management on vSwitch0 effortlessly. Switches know how to route traffic to VLAN.

    pSwitch <->pNIC4/pNIC5 <->vSwitch2 <->Portgroup <->NFS (subnet3)

    Here we link pNIC4 and pNIC5 together or use them as a pair of failover for NFS on its own subnet / VLAN itself. This VLAN can end the pSwitch if you wish or terminate once again to the vSwitch.

    In this configuration you have 3 VLAN and 3 subnets (subnets use by VLAN are also recommended)... for example:

    VLAN100-> subnet1-> workload management

    VLAN200->-> vMOtion subnet2

    VLAN300->-> NFS subnet3

    Let the pSwitches any 'movement' of traffic for each VLAN. You need only a routing device if you want TO cross borders VLAN and there is absolutely no need to do it in this configuration.

  • Electrodes for ESX 3.0.3

    I searched on the Site now for some time and was not able to find a list of the fixes available for ESX 3.0.3 I wonder to assess a couple of old ESX servers, they're all running 3.0.3 and esxupdate query that's all I get:

    [root@xxxxxx]#-l esxupdate query
    Installed software bundles:
    -Summary of name - Date installation-
    3.0.1 - 32039 22:03:16 08/25/09 3.0.1 full version of VMware ESX Server
    3.0.3 - 104629 22:15:12 08/25/09 3.0.3 full version of VMware ESX Server
    For the differential RPM list, use the - l /-listrpms option.

    I guess that there were patches since 3.0.3 - 104629, I believe that the Client has never implemented any, also, there are no deposits configured on these servers.

    Y at - it a list to see which patches if released after 3.0.3 - 104629?

    A big thanks to the guys of advnace

  • How to create two separate networks in ESX that can communicate with each other with 2 x bear?

    Hello
    Just want to know a fundamental question concerning the configuration of my ESX host of singlebox with several vswitch and two teddy bears,
    What is the definition or use of the network Label and ID of Port? Yes VLAN, I know what it's meant for the physical world.
    My goal here is to
    1. create several vSwitch with much 4 VM on the two vswitch and it communicate somehow vswitch0 and vswitch1 happen? I need to plug the switch of pNIC2 for communication can / must travel through the network cable in my ESX?
    2. how to force all traffic Vmthe in a vswitch to enter a virtual machine that runs as a router VM and then talk to the other router vswitch VM? is this possible?
    Thank you.

    I do not know if I understand perfectly, but I often have to create isolated networks.

    In this case, there is only one NETWORK card, but it works with two, one on each switch. vSwitch0 can communicate with the outside world via the vmnic0. vSwitch0 and vSwitch1 are connected by the virtual router of pfsense. The virtual machines on the portgroup private connect to the world outside and any other VM on the portgroup VM network via the pfsense router. To access computers virtual private Portgroup requires a VPN connection via the pfsense router. This is a completely isolated network. With an additional uplink on vSwitch1, you can connect to other physical devices.
