Implementation of test server for Dreamweaver CS3 on Vista Business

Following the tutorial on this page: setting up PHP for Dreamweaver development environment, I was usuccessful in testing the php server. I have uninstalled/reinstalled php, restarted my computer, checked the settings in IIS (although I did not understand enough what anyone in the IIS management console to see if something had to be changed...) and monitoring and re - follow the instructions.

When I try to load the test page, according to step 4, "Test of the PHP server" section of the tutorial above, I get this error information:

"HTTP error 404.3 - not found."
The page you are requesting cannot be served due to the configuration of the extension. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME mapping. »

  • Test server for Site Dynamics w/Leopard

I'm trying to set up a PHP / site Spry using a Mac running OS X Leopard operating system. I'm using a PHP book that is very useful, but it has been written using Tiger and Leopard eliminated the Netinfo Manager. I had to change many 'hidden files' and use the Terminal & BBEdit to edit files and create any virtualhosts.

I have the latest version of PHP installed (10.5 x has integrated Apache, but it needs to be changed). I am in communication with my ISP, but I can't get past the error messages (I had to modify "php.ini" to report all errors) telling me that my definition of site for the local test server is incorrectly set up. I tried to use the root of the server computer, the folder from the site in the folder of the user and virtual hosting.

I am told that two files in my folder of the virtual server, which resides in my folder user with the extension ".php" are not executed by the testing server OR this folder is not mapped with the URL on the testing server. He asks me to verify that the URL prefix corresponds to the root of my site.

That's what he said when I use virtualhost; I get a similar message when I use the other two test local server configuration mentioned above. I followed the instructions in the book with a lot of attention, and I'm afraid that I made a mistake in some of the editing I've done for hidden files.

Does anyone know do this with a Mac running the latest version of Leopard?

Configuration of local test for Leopard servers is something that a lot of people talk on the web. I have read of many methods of creating and deleting accounts and virtual hosts. Perhaps my problem is that I tried the advice of many people who have experienced this problem with how Apple withdrew the Netinfo Manager when leopard is released. The need to modify the httpd.conf file is in most of these suugestions.

The thing that scares me is, is that I was told to type http://localhost/ and see if he showed me a screen showing that the Apache web server is running. This works.

I was advised to do the following:
Create a page called test.php, and type the following code:
<? PHP phpinfo();? > save to HD:Library:WebServer:Documents Macintosh.
Load the following URL in your browser: http://localhost/test.php
If you see PHP configuration screen, you are operational! Well, I get a message to report
Safari can't open the page "" http://localhost/test.php " because it does not connect to the server 'localhost'."

I'm stuck. What should I do? Check the various changes I made? I'm looking for help to set up the local test server. Perhaps the book I use (which was written for Tiger) does not go in what is what seems to indicate I have implemented in the Site definition. Or I messed up an important file. I'm new to the terminal and BBEdits to these Linux files using my computer.

I remember one of them/private/etc/hosts said, "Do not change this entry."

Told me to create a host and copy the existing settings of the local host (127.0.0.1)

But it helps when they show examples. As you can see I am confused.

The book is outstanding - it is written by David Powers. The only confusion is this leopard / test server problem.

    Help!

I use 10.5.2 and the latest version of PHP / Apache and Dreamweaver CS3.

The space in the name of the folder of two words was not only a problem; the fact that I do not name the folder 'egdwcs3' the biggest problem. As soon as I renamed the folder 'egdwcs3' it became a match for what I had called in the file/private/etc/hosts as localhost (127.0.0.1 egdwcs3).

When you told me told to rename the egdwcs3 folder I have (at the beginning) renamed Essential_Guide and, of course, always gave me error messages. Then it struck me that I did follow your advice 'to a T!

I wasn't getting what has been defined as the host should be identical to the name of the folder in the root of the server. Somewhere along the line, I saved a file in this folder wrongly named "egdwcs3.php" and I was looking at the files in Chapter 4 of the examples for the book uploaded folder files and I noticed there was no classified named 'egdwcs3.php' - one mentioned "datetest.php" that was when I had my Epiphany!

Now when I look at the file datetest.php with the button data direct I see today!

Consider this "Case_Closed.php!" and thank you, David!

    Once again - great book!

  • How to connect SFTP server using Dreamweaver CS3

Need to put in place a new server - new (forced on me) host insists on International port722. Using DW CS3 - I can do it somehow?

Tried to manage sites - change etc. Could not find a way. Have now no remote server after 6 years old use.

This image is correct. To enable SFTP in Dreamweaver CS3, select the check box use Secure FTP (SFTP). This disables the other options: use the passive FTP mode, transfer mode using IPv6, Use Firewall, firewall settings and server compatibility.

But, and this is a big...

There is no field to specify the port number. The default port for SFTP is 22, not 722. 722, if necessary, I don't think that there is a way to do with DW CS3.

Thank you for your help, but I don't understand.

1A right now, I have change the web site locally. When changes are complete, I copy the files to the remote server (Go Daddy), with FTP.

Perfect. In this case, I won't even try to change you to use FTP in Dreamweaver under construction that will probably confuse you at this stage. In this case, go to "Remote Info" and make "None" - remove all credentials from here - we don't need configured in Dreamweaver if we do not use to it.

    2. because my changes are local, test files is local. In fact, I normally disable the network connection, when I don't need open.

Go to "Test Server" and make 'None' and delete all credentials - make it too empty. Given that you do not use the 'dynamic' services, we don't need to set up a. Your previews may occur through your browser to your "records the.

3 go Daddy uses PHP on Linux servers for hosting.

Well, Go Daddy also offers a variety of other options - but I guess you bought a configuration hosting Linux with PHP running on it. Let's not worry PHP here because you are using PHP for developing your site.

    4. because I'm not a fan of computer terminology, computers and computer configurations, I try to leave the default settings.

The only thing you need to keep "like what" is your "local Info". Other than that, delete configurations of both 'Testing' and 'Remote '. You should go there without delay.

    5. I'm not sure of the requirement of test server. A "dynamic" page descriptions are unclear to me. My website uses,

    a. html,

    (b) a page of XML data to sort my photos.

    c. spry tables cascading,

    d. scrolling of the photo thumbnails.

    e. links to pdf files and

    f. contact email.

A regular HTML site is usually "static" - as all the content you have in it is "hard coded" or "manuscript" in there. A PHP / ASP / JSP / CFM code is usually 'dynamic' - which means only the main template is usually done with the code. The content is retrieved from a database or from an external source. And this (to extract data from a database), such code must run on a server environment. This is the primary difference between 'static' and 'dynamic' Web pages. Do not enter into the details of what I'm not sure if this will confuse you more!

If this is not clear, please see me website.

  • Test server for PHP

    Hello.

I use MAMP and have successfully Setup a test server.

When I make changes to a PHP file I am working in code view and press the Live View button to see the changes, I am presented with a dialog asking me to save the file.

This can sometimes annoying me if I constantly small changes and they need to see the result. I was wondering if there is an option somewhere to remove the dialog box

    Thank you.

Only way to turn off that would be to use temporary files. Dreamweaver-->--> Preview in browser preferences--> box to preview using temporary files. That should force DW to write to temporary files when previewing of pages.

    Hi guys

    Need help.

I coded a site in Dreamweaver CS3 and after that I downloaded via automatic download, everything goes perfectly well until I discovered the site online through Internet Explorer. Thanks to all other browsers, the website is fine ie, Firefox, iron for PC and Mac etc.. It's just the PC Internet Explorer that displays the actual code.

    This is my code:

What it sows is the code of dots (& #x2022) only.

Hope someone can help with the problem.

    Thank you

Don't see any code in IE7, IE8 or IE9 the link you provided... maybe you've fixed it?

Correction, I was looking for a little more code. Change this & #x2022 •

  • Installation of Dreamweaver CS3 on Vista Home Prem

    Hello

I just got a new laptop with Vista Home Premium installed and tried to install Dreamweaver CS3. The first day, it seemed to work fine until I received a message stating that registration was not catestrophically. He is then arrested and I have been unable to run since.

I uninstalled the program, verified that all previous facilities were registered and installed again.

When I double click to run the application, I get the icon of the small circle I guess replaces the hourglass in vista but then after a second or two, he disappears and nothing happens.

I tried to uninstall, repair installation, but in vain. I even tried to set the clock before the time change last month as having caused a problem on the XP install on the old computer but nothing seems to work - does anyone have any ideas?

I had a quick glance around forums but not really came with something.

    Thanks in advance

Try to use the Windows restore to go back a few days before the initial installation took place. Then when you run the installer right click to run the installer as administrator, so it has all the privileges, you need to install.

If that's what did you the first time, come back and we can go from there.

Yes, as long as you use twice the same key. A key = a single computer.

    Hello

The fact that you get the 404 message says that the server is running properly.

You have configured your site definition in dreamweaver?

  • I've implemented the * & amp; * % $ test server - now can I please add a Recordset?

I encounter this problem sometimes with DW. I created an asp site with aspVBscript. When I go to add the application box server behaviors has the first s two checked item (create a site for this file) and choose a type of document, but the third, 'Set up test of the site server' is not, yet I set up the server to test (several times). It's the same parameters of test server that I use on several of my other sites and they are very good. Why the DW could be insisting that I have not put this? I tried to close the application and restart, but he always thinks that I have not entered a test server for the site settings and therefore will not let me add server behaviors.

Someone has any ideas why this is happening and what I could do to fix?

BTW I use Dreamweaver CS3 on a windows XP pro SP2 machine. Windows 2003 IIS Server 6.0 where the site resides.

The word 'test' in this case really means a test server for Dreamweaver, not for the developer. Dreamweaver must have access to an application server functionining to activate some features like tables can be explored in the databases Panel or selectable columns in the Recordset dialog box. DW is actually ping the test server to generate this information.
