Implementation of VLAN for wireless AP with two SSID

I am trying to install a RV180 and 3 wireless access points. I want that the AP is having 2 SSID isolated from each other. IE comments network and core network. I have setup a VLAN and my AP support 802. 1 q and ssid matching of VID. I could get this background work, but things seem to have gotten confused when I plug a POE switch instead of directly in the rv180 of the AP. At this point I don't know exactly what to ask. Perhaps start by providing information based on how I'm supposed to do. I was under the impression that since both devices are supported 802. 1 q I could configure the VLAN on the router and tell the AP to apply a VID of the SSID and thing would work. This is not the case unfortunately. Any help would be appreciated.

Aaron Hi, depends what's this switch. If it's a unmanage switch, it cannot process tags vlan so the switch will only be a member of the vlan native who is connect from the router.

If it is a switch to manage, you must configure the same as the router, a vlan native UNTAG, tag vlan for the connection to the AP and router port.

  • Voicemail for one user with two extensions

    Environment:

Cisco Unified CM Administration system version: 7.1.3.30000 - 1

Cisco Unity Connection Administration Version 7.1.3.10000 - 68

We have one user this year who will wear two hats and will have offices in two different places. I have two extensions as a line on each phone. Now, I just need to point the two extensions to the same voicemail box or give the user two mailboxes. It seems that the Administration CM only supports a voicemail by user. I think it would be easier for the user to have only to check a mailbox with two extensions to point to the same VM. How can I accomplish this?

    Hi Andy,.

Assume that the user has issues 7005 & 8450, but we only want one box mailbox

@ 7005. There are two ways to do this.

In CUCM go > feature > Voicemail > voicemail profile and create a new profile called XXXX (whatever name you want) with a Description called "XXXX mailbox username" the Voice Mail Box mask will be 7005 > save

Then through CUCM go for users of phones > under directory number Config for 8450 > voice mail profile and change to XXXX (previously created in steps above) > update > reset

Now, when a call from roads via forward to the connection of the unit, it will reach the box mailbox @ 7005.

Or about the other unit Extension so that 8450 is another Extension to 7005 etc..

    See you soon!

  • Change of ISE of the VLAN for wireless settings

    Hello

I configured on ISE posture strategy for posture compliant and noncompliant to endpoints, such that endpoints compliant posture will fall in VLAN clean and not conform will fall in others.

Now, my question is, even if an end point is consistent, it is not in VLAN own posture. To get the ip address of VLAN, it requires enough ipconfig and ipconfig / renew to do manually.

    How to solve the problem...

    Kind regards

    Aditya

If you assign a VLAN, the final step for the PC client to renew its IP address. This step is performed by the portal of reviews for Windows clients. If you have not defined a VLAN for the 2nd AUTH rule earlier, you can skip this step.

If you have assigned a VLAN, complete the following steps to enable the renewal of the IP:

    1. Click Administration, and then click comments.
    2. Click settings.
    3. Expand comments, and then expand Configuration multi-portail.
    4. Click DefaultGuestPortal or the name of a custom portal that you created.
    5. Click the DHCP Release VLAN check box.

I'm just trying to find a way to implement a simple password if the our laptops wireless & the wii and ps3 can access the internet, but the neighbors cannot. =)

I managed to set up once, but the numbers were about 27 characters and it was an accident, and - I couldn't get a new pc to connect with any numbers, tho - my son somehow managed to get the wii connected...

I looked through other and the connection name & passwords were pretty basic.  How to set a place for my home lan based?

  • We need heat sinks to be installed en XW8600 with two QC XEON E5450 CPU

    Hello

I plan to buy a HP XW8600 refurbushied and it does not appear that it has installed radiators.  I wonder if it's a really must have heatsinks installed for this system with two QC XEON E5450 CPU.  I will use this system to host multiple Virtual Machines using VMWare or OracleVM.  It has 32 GB of RAM.

    Appreciate your response and pointers.

    Concerning

    Chandra

    Chandra,

It is strange that someone would sell the workstation xw8600 without heat sinks.  You really need a heatsink / fan on each processor.  These processors run 80 watts maximum TDP each and so you do not need to worry to buy double height double-fan 'Performance' radiators.  You have to buy the combo single-large heatsink thermal / common fan which is used for the xw6600 and the xw8600 currently going for about $30.00 each, used.  The part number, you can search in eBay, is 446358-001.

HP had the combo 'double height' radiator/fans available for processors used xw8600 greater than or equal to 120 watts TDP maximum per processor.  Those are double-expensive.

The process of safely removing the original processors, their cleaning and loading them safely back inside with the proper application of thermal paste (Noctua is my favorite), and then properly attach the new heaters/fans with appropriate screws torque technically maybe is something best left to an expert with experience.  Given your question, suppose you who will hire.

  • Implementation of QOS for on multiple switches for two VLAN

afternoon all that I was looking for a little help in configuring QOS for two local area networks VIRTUAL, I created. These will be for voice traffic vlan 22 and traffic video vlan23. I also have three other VLAN for pc, wireless devices and our cnc machines. We have 5 switches which are all SG30028P with a single switch making the intervlan routing (Layer 3-powered). all switches are resources shared by the main switch and ive been through the guide written on how to do it on a single switch, which I think is layer 3.

could someone help me with what I want the video and voice to take precedence over the rest of the traffic

    best regards Patrick

Right, this way, you can give priority to IP or MAC address.

No, there is nothing different, only one review of the routing. As the L3 switch can make local routing decisions, the placement of the ACL can vary. In an L2 environment, all packages are transferred to the router, then back down the network to the local destination, so you can clear an ACL on the uplink.

Since you have a L3 switch, you can practice the same, empty an ACL on the link downstream for L2 switches for all traffic subject to the ACL. Any connection to the L3 switch, you can of course apply an ACL to the uplink router to get all notice of incoming traffic correctly. You can also apply a policy on port source interface to get the note as soon as traffic hits the switch.

QoS policy is the concept of an ACL, you want it is the closest to the resource. If you apply a QoS policy an uplink upward, QoS will be marked up when it hits this port. Not before. So it should be applied closest to the device as possible. Many times, local QoS is not as important, until it starts to get to the router. As most Cat 6 environments can generally manage all local traffic. So, depending on the number of devices and the amount of traffic, a decently robust network can handle all traffic local then you just give priority to the uplink remarks to ensure that what is important is first.

  • Implementation of VLAN / QoS for VOIP on RV180

I posted earlier about setting up VLAN / QoS for VOIP on the SG200-18 (see: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12193666/setting-vlan-and-qos...).

I did go ahead and buy the RV180. I connected to SG200-18.

I wish to proceed with the implementation of VLAN / QoS on the RV180 so my phone (Grandstream VOIP wireless phone) VOIP is on its own VLAN separate from the rest of the network, so make sure that all QoS settings are optimized to give the first priority of VOIP network telephone.

Currently I still have the VOIP phone connected to SG200-18 as stated in the previous post.

    Here are my questions:

1 should I leave the VOIP phone connected to the SG200-18 and config all the VLANS, VLANS and VLAN Switch voice settings down to the VOIP phone, or should I plugged the phone VOIP in the RV180? Which would give me better performance and easier to do?

    2. How can I place the VOIP phone on its own VIRTUAL LAN, in addition to optimizing QoS settings so it gets a top priority for the network?

    3. I currently have set VOIP telephone in order to reserve a DHCP address in the 192.168.x range. When you move to the VLAN, should I set the DHCP reservation and/or my firewall settings (I through the firewall as well)

    4. I also get a beta-test VOIP Grandstream office phone. Time of its installation, what I have to plug directly into the RV180 or the SG200-18, and I have to put it on the same VLAN as the phone VOIP without wire Grandstream or VLAN different? It also supports PoE, but the RV180 or SG200-18 model I does not work. If I use an external power supply, connect each device will be OK or might that it became fried?

    Thank you!

    Hello

1 should I leave the VOIP phone connected to the SG200-18 and config all the VLANS, VLANS and VLAN Switch voice settings down to the VOIP phone, or should I plugged the phone VOIP in the RV180? Which would give me better performance and easier to do?

It will not be much difference between being on the switch or on the router, so it is for the most part to the simplicity of configuration performance.  If you plug the phone directly on the router, you will really not disturb trunking VLAN or none of this switch.

This is really what is more convenient, but if you are able to plug into the RV directly I wouldn't worry QoS on the switch.

So let's talk about implementation of the RV180.

First go to network > LAN > belonging to a VLAN.  Enable VLANs, and add a new VLAN for voice (most people use 100 for voice for a reason, but it does not matter).  You will take care to set the port that the phone is plugged in not tagged to the new voice VLAN, and you can exclude the data VLAN of the port.

Then go to several VIRTUAL local network subnets and configure the address range for it configuration DHCP / new subnet (for example 192.168.100.0) If you do not want to use it (makes things a bit easier)

Finally, to enable QoS on the RV go to QoS > QoS WAN profiles.  Activate the WAN QoS, make sure that it is set to the priority mode and add a new entry to the table.  You can name it anything you want (I used VoiP), then set it high priority.

Then go down on the link profile page and add a new entry here. Select the profile you just created in the drop-down menu, set the service to one, select traffic selector VLAN and make sure the drop-down menu for VLAN is the VoIP VLAN.

At this point, we have a configuration where the voice traffic (or basically anything on the VLAN voice) will have priority when it comes out the WAN interface.

    3. I currently have set VOIP telephone in order to reserve a DHCP address in the 192.168.x range. When you move to the VLAN, should I set the DHCP reservation and/or my firewall settings (I through the firewall as well)

The second VIRTUAL LAN should have a configuration of different subnet for him, because I spoke up.  During this process you will place the DHCP server for the new VLAN as well.  You can adjust your reservations for the phones, but it does not really matter what IP they get, since we are prioritizing voice any VLAN, so you don't have set up a reserve, unless you really want to.

    4. the Grandstream phone.

I would put the Grandstream (and all the other VoIP phones that you could get) in the voice VLAN so that he would get the same priority treatment.  At this point with multiple devices, you can indeed install a trunk to the switch (VLAN normal unidentified and voice VLAN Tag) and configure the ports to the voice VLAN for these phones.  Who will ensure that the switch gives priority to the traffic of voice, even if it is probably not as important in their own country on the WAN.

Regarding the PoE device connected to a non PoE switch or a router, there will be no problems.  I'm guessing that the phone also comes with an AC adapter.  It will not feed this power in the thread just because it's PoE, it's pretty much a one-way circuit.

    Hope that helps,

  • Best practices for network configuration of vSphere with two subnets?

Well, then I'll set up 3 ESXi hosts connected to storage shared with two different subnets. I configured the iSCSI initiator and the iSCSI with his own default gateway - 192.168.1.1 - targets through a Cisco router and did the same with the hosts configured with its own default gateway - 192.168.2.2. I don't know if I should have a router in the middle to route traffic between two subnets since I use iSCSI ports linking and grouping of NETWORK cards. If I shouldn't use a physical router, how do I route the traffic between different subnets and use iSCSI ports binding at the same time. What are the best practices for the implementation of a network with two subnets vSphere (ESX host network: iSCSI network)? Thank you in advance.

Install the most common iSCSI would be traffic between hosts and

the storage is not being routed, because a router it could reduce performance.

If you have VLAN 10(192.168.1.0/24) iSCSI, VLAN 20 (192.168.2.0/24) ESX

MGMT and VLAN 30 (192.168.3.0/24) comments VMs and VLAN 40 (192.168.4.0/24)

vMotion a deployment scenario might be something like:

    NIC1 - vSwitch 0 - active VMK (192.168.1.10) MGMT, vMotion VMK (192.168.4.10)

    standby

    NIC2 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC3 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK1 (192.168.1.10) iSCSI

    NIC4 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK2 (192.168.1.11) iSCSI

    NIC5 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC6 - vSwitch 0 - MGMT VMK (192.168.2.10) standby, vMotion

    VMK (192.168.4.10) active

You would place you on VLAN 10 storage with an IP address of something like target

192.168.1.8 and iSCSI traffic would remain on this VLAN. The default value

gateway configured in ESXi would be the router the VLAN 20 with an ip address of

something like 192.168.2.1. I hope that scenario help set some options.

  • Advice for the implementation of FCPX to be used on two computers

    Hi all

I really hope that you can give me some good tips to help me implement FCPX for use on my two computers.

In a Word, my challenge is that I have my data (music, photos, video clips, etc.) stored on my iMac (saved regularly!), however as a still more frequent business traveler, I bought a macbook pro so that I can continue my hobby of projects in the long evenings to watch the hotel walls.

What is the ideal way to manage my entire upward? I would be pleased to be able to synchronize my macbook with my iMac and just take what I need with me, work on him and then when arriving home sync back changes. Is this possible?

More than happy to hear other recommendations anyone can have to handle these scenarios.

    Thanks, Chris

    Hello Chris,

One method would be to have FCP X installed on Mac and use a fast external disk to store your libraries.

The libraries will open and be usable on Mac.

Just make sure that the media is stored as managed and not external.

This means that all media will in the library.

  • Cisco ISE 1.3 - Mab authentication with a vlan for each foor

    Hello

A client wants to implement authentication MAB with a vlan for each floor. I found a solution of Loïc

I have set up the following:

-the profile of different authentication with a vlan different.

-Add the endpoint (printer etc) endpoint identity.

-create endpoint group identity that end point of recall.

-create a rule to authorizzation reminding all work and element... in the end.

Do you know if there is a faster way where another way to solve the problem?

    Thank you all

Well, mab in some environments, could be replaced by profiling and for rules, rather af with a rule authz for each floor, you can name your VLAN in your eponymous switches to "Printers", in the world, then you would only need an authz rule, where you use the name of the vlan instead of identification number, so no matter where this printer , it will end in the vlan 'Printer', whatever it is in this specific switch.

However, after completing the update my iPhone asked me to connect to my iCloud account. When I did this, she rejected my password.
