• Time CPU Ready for terminal servers

  I just started a job last week and my first task is to examine the virtual infrastructure. The first thing that stood out to me was our Terminal Server cluster configuration. For example, we have an ESXi host (in this cluster) with 12 physical processors and 24 logical processors. This host ESXi as eight Terminal Server computers virtual running on it. Seven of these Terminal servers have 12vCPUs EACH! The other has 8 vCPUs. When I look each time loan of virtual machines on average CPU during the week, averages of these varied from 10% on the lower end to 13% on the high end. Again, I take vCenter Performance averages. The maximum rates are much higher than that. The ratio goes down to about 3.8 vCPUs each logical processor.

  I would like to know if this time there ready CPU seems high to someone else, and what have you seen that average delays in loan CPU in environments with Terminal servers of your VM? I know that the issue involved applications and environment everyone will be different, but I'm looking for a little guidance.

  I always raise an eyebrow, when someone mentions that they 'need' more than 2 vCPU on a server terminal server.
  RDS and Citrix servers receive scale vs scale up.  Multiple virtual machines with 2-4 vCPU and 8-12 GB of memory.  Of course, there is that of outliers but servers Citrix typical application has hit a sweet spot in the Gb 2 vCPU/8-12 range.

  3/1 the ratios are pretty typical.

  I would say between 5-10 is getting 'high' % RDY.  But it is really end user experience as well.  Users experience performance problems?  The usual causes of high allowances are a lack of understand how to properly change a virtual machine for the workload.  Often other problems are the root cause, but virtual memory and CPU are the easiest thing to just throw to solve the problem. Networking and storage for example are often the root causes.

  Other things, I'd be curious to know.

  • Did you by chance in a Resource Pool?
  • Are there limits to any CPU together on these virtual machines or you see no MLMTD % figures appearing for these virtual machines?
  • You see figures of the CSTP % for one of your virtual machines?

  I just took a peek at a sample of about 20 servers Citrix on one of our guests and we see % times of the RDY to .0x to the values of X 1.4.

  My suggestion would be to stop some VM, select hot and a sample group up to of 2vCPU and have users test performance while you keep a watchful eye on ESXtop.

  For the dashboard of data communicating with a controller, you will need to have a Windows PC or target RT OR in between.  I hope that this image helps illustrate this.

  When I ping srv it alternates between IP addresses
  Response of xxx.x.xx.12 bytes = 32 time = 10ms TTL = 126
  Did I miss something?

• No available Terminal servers error

  Environment:

  closed vWorkspace consists of an installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 Server with vWorkspace RDSH and Quest 8 - a Windows Server 2003 R2 (32 bit) Server with Terminal Services.

  Workstations are a mixture of 32 machines and 64-bit running Windowws 7 and XP

  Location:

  Users are using AppPortal for running published applications.  As long as the application is published on the server 2008R2, everything is good and not fail really.  Question comes with apps that are published from the server 2003R2 32 bit.  It seems that quite often I have to restart the server to get these applications published to rework.  End user will go to run the application and comes with the error "Error launching application [ApplicationName] - there are no available terminal servers to connect at this time.  Please report this message to your system administrator. (- 2147019860) »

  I can't reproduce the problem manually.  If I just restart, or even simply to restart research on users of server services can reconnect.  The system can go for days without a question, or this problem may occur several times in a single day.

  Clients are automatically configured using an XML file that actually does not support NAT for firewall Transversal.  Thus, Article 107875 knowledge does not appear to apply.

  Keep an eye on the side esxtop ESX and see your % RDY meters in this output.  Don't forget, as underlined chamon, with high vSMP values do not match always the best performance.  Typical scenarios citrix/ts use 1-2 vCPU for more effective results.  If you bump up to a larger number of users, you also want to watch the overcommitt on your processors and vCPUs in the box.  Many users a lot of switching and use heavy context on the processors for the management of the OS and the user.  1-2 vCPU seems to be the sweet spot.  What kind of applications are underway within the environment?

  I am a current owner M1000e as well.  You have a number of different options.  You have the versatile mid-height M620, which can be set up as animals when it comes to RAM and CPU.  Optionally, you now have blades of height of quarter if your use case supports, are an attractive option.  The bulk of the case with them in my mind is the limit of RAM.  We just bought 4 M620 to replace some of our old M600.  A computational side, we increase the computing power of an amount of signifigant compared city blades according to old Harper.

  Personally, I had still stick with EqualLogic form factor standard for storage.  The storage for the enclosure has a few traps that might not make it the best solution for you.

  I get the error message "the secure connection to the VDM server has unexpectedly disconnected. Reason: error generic asyncsocket. "after the DNS Round Robin application for my connection servers see 3.1.  It happens only of my Hedgehogs with the view customer installed Linux Thin Clients. Anyone seen this before?

• How do you perceive the other host servers once you have a client installed?

  I installed VMware ESXi 4.0.0 171294 on a single server - now, I did the same thing on another.

  I installed the client and the client maps to a single IP address - how map the client to another IP to another server?

  I set up the Playbook dev environment in a virtual machine (MS Virtual PC if it is important) and encountered problems trying to connect to the Simulator, which is of course an another VM.  I guess there will be the same problems you are trying to run the Simulator on one machine other than the machine of dev, regardless of if the dev machine is a virtual machine.

  Anyway, I can't start the trainer inside my dev VM. I guess it would work, and in fact it doesn't (even if the error is a strange not found error). Instead I tried to run the SIM on the true operating system of the box.

  The machine has an IP address in the 192.168.0.X subnet and VM Dev has also received an IP address on the same subnet to the router. However, the IP of the SIM is a 192.168.153.X. I tried affecting 255.255.0.0 subnet mask right on the Dev of VM and it still does not work. I also couldn't find any way to change the network settings on the Simulator hoping to move it to the subnet 0.

  Has anyone got a configuration like this work? If so, there is advice on what config change?

  I'm currently under this configuration with the development environment in a separate VM (Windows7 Enterprise) and the Simulator playbook in another virtual machine, both on the same machine.

  To make this work as well virtual machines had have their network in "Bridged" mode configuration

  To configure your virtual machine, assuming you are using VMware Player as I am, in the VMware Player menu bar, click on the tab drop-down 'Virtual Machine', select "Virtual Machine Settings... ».

  In the tab "Hardware", select the device of the "network card".

  Change the network connection to open and activate the option "reproduce the physical network connection state.

  Click OK and restart your virtual machine.

  Once this has been done for both, discover the IP address of the Simulator and notes that it has changed. This IP address allows to load your applications from the development of VM.

  By default in formsweb.cfg you have a section called \[jpi\].
  If you run the form with config = YPI added to URL Sun JRE will be used instead of Jinitiator. Note that you must specify correct jpi_classid in formsweb.cfg match the version of JRE to your client computers.

  To configure forms server to use any version of JRE installed on the client computer, you can create a section in formsweb.cfg

  Well, it's certainly an interesting question, and I think that the approach of Blu is a good match for the features of databases. However, your condition that some chips are composed of several words throws a bit of a twist on the approach of Bul. However, it is not insurmountable. That is my approach, I first calculate the number of Atomic chips by the string, create an itterator between 1 and the maximum number of chips, then by joining the iterator twice I calcualte start and stop positions to shoot all the beaches of possible overtime for any given input string. These areas are then equijoined to an array of chips and as you can see I have only two pass a multi-word chips output which correspond to those listed in my table of chips.

• Basic missing tab settings

  Hi people

  We have a server farm implemented here with 6 Terminal servers and printers loaded locally on each server. The tab settings in the printer preferences when printing c7260 on two of our servers or our C5240 is missing. On the other 4 servers, it is fine. Exactly the same drivers loading on all servers and in fact all of them were created as of the VMS in a windows image. I've checked everything I can think but can figure out what's different
