Import music from an external hard drive.

I saved thousands of audio tracks on an external hard drive. I had to reinstalling my o/s (Vista) and now I want to search the hard disk to retrieve the tracks for WMP play. Can anyone help or tell me how this can be done. The rival company program makes automactically!

Hello

·         Where you installed the operating system on?

·         What happens when you connect the external hard drive to the computer?

·         Did you have a backup copy of the music files on the external hard drive?

·         You see the files in Windows Explorer by navigating in the external hard drive?

·         Have you tried adding the files in Windows Media Player 11?

Connect the drive and... Drag / drop or copy / paste in a folder of your choice. (you can acess the drive by going to...) Start / computer)

  • I just downloaded winows meïdia player 11 it won't import my music from my external hard drive

Winows meïdia player 11 won't import my music from my external hard drive whenever I try to add files, it just seems threw? How can I get my music in my library?

The http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925718 instructions are for WMP 11 on XP. Here are the correct steps to WMP 11 Vista: (note the reset of the library will make you lose all the counts to play and possibly ratings too)

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.

With the drive connected, open iTunes. Click the file menu and organize the library.

  • How to import bookmarks from an external hard drive?

I exported my favorites from firefox on an external hard drive. Now I have a new laptop, but do not know how to transfer these back to firefox bookmarks.

It is no different to import from a hard drive on your own machine. The external hard drive has a drive letter on the same way as a HD internal.

Just use the reverse procedure, you made to export the file i.e. choose "Import HTML" instead of "export HTML".

If you saved it in. JSON format, then choose 'Restore' in the menu "import and backup" instead.

  • I imported my photos from an external hard drive in Lightroom, edited my photos but then...? !

    Adobe,

I imported my photos from an external hard drive in Lightroom, edited my photos and when I decided to export the originals had not been updated and deleted photos were not deleted. How I set up so that once I have import photos, edit and export they are then placed in their original case reviewed and updated?

I managed to export photos to another file, but they were exported with an Adobe.xmp file. What is it and is it necessary?

    Thanks for your help!

OK then so when you export edited LR images to tell the Office I do not need to use xmp files unless I want then to re - edit still say in Photoshop or another app?

You don't need the files xmp during the passage of LR to Photoshop. Right click on the image or in the develop module, click Photo > edit in... According to what you have set in the preferences of the image then opens like FFT, JPEG or PSD - 8 bit / 16 bit - and the new TIFF file for example automatically will return to sitting next to the original RAW LR library. If you are exporting a RAW file edited to the desktop to JPG/TIFF then changes will be permanently stamped in the EXIF of the created files.

Basically import my Raw files on the drive from Carmera card, then in LR. Edit in LR, finishing and export again say in the office. Keep or throw originals that I please...

Yes, but why would you throw your originals? You can later return to the original and the re - change all over again new experiences learned etc..

Can I see the modified pictures made in Photoshop in LR later?

Yes, see first paragraph above. If you already have a file in LR, take it in Photoshop as a JPG/TIFF/PSD, it will be automatically reduced in LR. If you modify a file outside the LR and that is not already in the LR library, say by locating the RAW file in Explorer and then open it directly in ACR/Photoshop, then LR will have no idea what you did except in LR, you choose to import the image later. Remember though, this is one of the examples where you will need to configure save metadata in xmp (at bridge) so that when you import the edited outside the file RAW LR, LR will read the xmp file changes and save it in its own database.

  • Hello. I created a folder music on my external hard drive connected to my asus router.  I can now access the music through my media library.  How can I change the folder when I make new purchases to iTunes easily without doing it one by one

I created a folder music on an external hard drive connected to my asus router.  I copied my music from my iTunes library in this folder access and can now my kodi media network.  How I updated the folder when I do new iTunes purchase without having to do it one by one thanks

You can use a backup tool that updates only modified files.  You don't say what kind of computer you use.

ITunes is actively using media on the external hard drive so you can replace it. Simply copy the media to one other player does not have iTunes it use it.  iTunes is probably still using media to your internal drive.

WTF.

    Hello knottywolf,

    ·         Have you tried to copy the files from the external hard drive to the flash drive?

    ·         What are the type of files that can be played by your car stereo?

    ·         After a synchronization of devices, have you tried to copy the tracks instead copy the playlist?

If you are not able to transfer the playlist directly from Media Player, you should try to copy the files to your external hard drive from Windows Explorer and paste them to the USB.

    Thank you

  • Lightroom has deleted my photos from an external hard drive

Anyone know why every time I have to import my photos in Lightroom from my external hard drive and there just deletes everything on my external hard drive and he moved to my office? How can I change? It is so annoying!

My guess is that you use move during the import. (top of the import dialog box)

    Change it to Add.

  • Can I have macbook start up from my external hard drive instead of the internal HD of the laptop?

I use a macbook air 2014 model and would like to know if I can boot the mac from an external hard drive rather than the inside. The reason to do this is to save space on the laptop and updates can be installed directly on the external hard drive.

Is this possible? Forgive me, because I'm not that tech savvy. Thank you in advance!

Yes. Install or clone of Mac OS X on it and then select it in the pane of the system preferences Startup disk.
