Import of existing site in Dreamweaver

New to Dreamweaver - students, working in the Windows environment (w.CS4), trying to bring to an existing website (made in the pagespinner/mac).  I have set up a new local site in Dreamweaver and want to confirm that the files of 'Getting' from the remote site is next step.  I want to only copy files to work with them on the spot.  Later I'll upload to the Web server.

Yes, this is your next step

You always want to keep your files locally and he edit and upload the changes.

  • Edit an existing Site with Dreamweaver

Im sure this question has been asked 100 times, but how do I edit an existing site (published and on the web) with Dreamweaver CS5.5? I took over as webmaster month last in a company and want to change the companys Web site. How to download files on the web? I can do it with Contribute but not Dreamweaver.

Create a local site folder in DW.  Site > Manage Sites > new.

Go to Advanced > remote info and enter your log in details (FTP, URL host, username, password).

Test the connection to the server.

Then GET the files from the server.

  • Import of existing in using Dreamweaver Web site

What is the good method to download an existing Web site and import it into DW where all image links, CSS, etc. working properly?

I downloaded a website available via Filezilla on my hard drive.  DW, I went to manage Sites > New and browsed the site.  When I open the index.html page in DW, images, and links are not bind properly.  When I download it to a folder of test on my server (e.g. www.soleproductions.com/happykids/), if I click on a navigation link, it takes me to www.soleproductions.com/bouncers.index.html instead of www.solproductions.com/happykids/bouncers.html.

I also tried to create a new site with site management, set the FTP in DW and connect to the computer remote and 'GET' the Web site files to download to my hard drive.  Same results.

I even tried to create a new Site in DW, open windows Explorer and drag and drop in DW, but that has not worked as well.

I've recently spent Golive to DW and am still learning the differences on how to do what I know how to do in GoLive.

    Thank you

    > This is simply not possible to do this job without

    > changing the links on each page of the Web site?

You need to change all the links that were previously created. You can do this manually, or let the DW to do this for you. Start with the original files in the root of the local site. Create the happy children subdirectory. Then in the DW file panel, move the files from the root to the subdirectory. DW invites you to update the links.

  • How to import my GoLove sites in Dreamweaver CC?

    Hello

There is nothing much to import.  Simply define a site in DW by going to the Site > new Site.  Say DW where on your hard disk to find the files of your GoLive Site.  See screenshot.

Since GL generated code that does not meet web standards current and used exclusive stuff that is not supported in DW, you will need to clean things up a bit and to find replacements for the automated functions or extensions, you may have used in your GL site.

Most people find that it is cleaner in the long term to rebuild just their site in DW.  Start with a new layout - new > blank page > HTML.  Select a layout in the 3rd Panel & hit CREATE.  SaveAs index.html.  Repeat for other pages of the site.

Then it's just a matter of copy & pasting old content in your new layout of the site.

    Good luck!

  • Import an existing site in Muse

I need to make several changes to a site that was created in 2010. Is there an easy way to import a site that was created with Medialabs, Sitegrinder in Muse? Anything other than the re-creation of the site from scratch?

    Hello

If you create a site in the Muse and the post, still you can not import the pages of the site published in Muse. Currently muse only supports the .muse file to make changes.

  • How to import a Web 4 of Expression Web site in Dreamweaver cc?

Hi, I have problems importing my existing Web site in Dreamweaver as there is no .ste file.

looked everywhere and not a hint of what to do.

    Thank you

. STE files are just the setingss of site definition you have created and exported from DW.

If this is a new installation of DW, you have still no .ste file.

Access the Site > new Site > tell DW where your site files on your local disk folder.  C:\yourSiteName.  See screenshot.

Under servers: FTP login credentials for the remote server entry.  Root directory is any folder on the server of your hosting provider told to use for your files in public_html.  This varies by host.  If in doubt, check with your web host for more details.

  • Easy way to import existing sites in CS4 to CC

Newbie with CC... I just downloaded the trial 30 CC of Dreamweaver after you have used previously, until 2 days ago CS4. The first opening of CC of Dreamweaver, I had the ability to import settings from a previous version of Dreamweaver. I thought that this would bring in all my existing sites? However, it seems that the dialog manage sites is completely empty. Can someone tell me if there is a quick way to import all my previous definitions of the site of CS4 without having to manually import .ste files? I am not sure I have ALL the .ste files, but perhaps most of them. It's just a real pain, having to import one by one. Would be VERY grateful for any advice. Thank you all.

If you have previously exported all your CS4 .ste files site definitions, you can use these files to import settings into DW CC.  That said, CC is quite a leap of CS4.  In fact it might work better if you manually create the new CC site definitions.    Site > new Site...

  • How can I import an entire Web site in dreamweaver using an IMAC?

How can I import an entire Web site in dreamweaver using an IMAC?

It doesn't matter which computer you use, as long as it meets the requirements of the specification for Dreamweaver (as almost certainly does an iMac).

You define a site in Dreamweaver and set up the connection information for the remote server. You can then connect to the remote server and download the pages of the site and other assets, such as images. The following video shows how to define a local site define a site in Dreamweaver. Adobe Dreamweaver tutorials CC. There is a separate video on the remote server configuration: put in place the server connection information. Adobe Dreamweaver tutorials CC. The second video requires that you have created the site locally, but the details on setting up the connection information for the remote server are the same.

Just to define a local site in Dreamweaver pointing to any folder you have downloaded the files to.

  • How to import an existing in the new project folder

    Hello

I start to use Dreamweaver as my site Web SDK software development. My question is: How can I import an existing folder that contains html, javascripts and CSS pages as a new project?

I searched everywhere but didn't see the opportunity to do so.

    See you soon,.

You don't need to drag and drop files. You just need to set the site in DW site manager. In site settings, you point to the folder on your local disk that contains the files under the root of your site.

  • Import of web sites

MS Frontpage was an option where you can import a Web site from the internet using the base URL and have it, eventually, to follow and to download all pages, graphics etc.

I'm all new to Dreamweaver (using Dreamweaver MX) and I don't see that option anywhere. Are there?

Lol if you have FTP connection information, you can login to the site
and download all the files, but if you do not have this connection
information, so that the best you can get would be the HTML code that is served at a
Copier Web such as QuadSucker, BlackWidow or WebCopier for the PC program.

I'm upgrading to Adobe CC. Currently, I use Dreamweaver CS5 to my Web site. Should what steps I take to ensure that I can edit my site in Dreamweaver cc?

You can go to Site > Manage Sites > export to create files .ste with your settings to be imported into the new version of the site. This way your info ftp and other site specific parameters will meet instantly, rather than having to create new definitions of site by hand.

Other that that, there really nothing that needs to be done for CC to understand your old files.

When installing CC, make sure you click on the advanced settings in the Installer link and disable "Remove older Versions". You can easily have CS5 and installed CC at the same time to make the transition less sharp. There are some pretty big changes between CS5 and CC can take you awhile to get under your belt. Have the old version will allow you to continue to work with something that you know while you do the adjustment with the new software.

CC has more Spry example, if whatever it is done using the framework Spry will no longer offer that you dialogue windows when you want to change. You will need to either open the old program or switch to the jQuery version (if it is available in the DW interface). It won't 'break' your Spry effects, it just will not allow you to change from the windowed interface (adjustments should be coded manually or in the old software).
