Import a site in Dreamweaver 4

I recently had a computer crash.  I lost my website files that were on my count in Dreamweaver 4.  I have my computer up and running and have downloaded my files from my server web site.  How to make their return in Dreamweaver in the correct configuration?

Thank you

Larry

Just to define a local site in Dreamweaver pointing to any folder you have downloaded the files to.

I just bought a MAC and bought a new version of Dreamweaver. How to upload my Web site?

    1. in your old version of DW, export the site for the site definition to a *.ste file.

    2. copy this file of the site definition to the new computer.

    3. copy the site files themselves to the new computer.

    4. in your new version of DW, import the site definition.

Make sure that the paths of the site are all set correctly for the location of the local root folder on the new computer.

It doesn't matter which computer you use, as long as it meets the requirements of the specification for Dreamweaver (as almost certainly does an iMac).

You define a site in Dreamweaver and set up the connection information for the remote server. You can then connect to the remote server and download the pages of the site and other assets, such as images. The following video shows how to define a local site define a site in Dreamweaver. The second video requires that you have created the site locally, but the details on setting up the connection information for the remote server are the same.

Hi, I have problems importing my existing Web site in Dreamweaver as there is no .ste file.

looked everywhere and not a hint of what to do.

    Thank you

. STE files are just the setingss of site definition you have created and exported from DW.

If this is a new installation of DW, you have still no .ste file.

Access the Site > new Site > tell DW where your site files on your local disk folder.  C:\yourSiteName.  See screenshot.

Under servers: FTP login credentials for the remote server entry.  Root directory is any folder on the server of your hosting provider told to use for your files in public_html.  This varies by host.  If in doubt, check with your web host for more details.

  • Pouvez muse import html sites created in dreamweaver or other tools?

Adobe muse can import other html documents to change rather than starting from scratch?

    Hello

Muse currently does not have this ability to import html sites. However, you can insert the HTML for some items using the-> Insert the HTML code and they would work in Muse, but not the code for an entire site.

However, you can publish this feature request on:- https://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas

I'm upgrading to Adobe CC. Currently, I use Dreamweaver CS5 to my Web site. Should what steps I take to ensure that I can edit my site in Dreamweaver cc?

You can go to Site > Manage Sites > export to create files .ste with your settings to be imported into the new version of the site. This way your info ftp and other site specific parameters will meet instantly, rather than having to create new definitions of site by hand.

Other that that, there really nothing that needs to be done for CC to understand your old files.

When installing CC, make sure you click on the advanced settings in the Installer link and disable "Remove older Versions". You can easily have CS5 and installed CC at the same time to make the transition less sharp. There are some pretty big changes between CS5 and CC can take you awhile to get under your belt. Have the old version will allow you to continue to work with something that you know while you do the adjustment with the new software.

CC has more Spry example, if whatever it is done using the framework Spry will no longer offer that you dialogue windows when you want to change. You will need to either open the old program or switch to the jQuery version (if it is available in the DW interface). It won't 'break' your Spry effects, it just will not allow you to change from the windowed interface (adjustments should be coded manually or in the old software).

I also noticed that when I downloaded the file there was a mistake: "- error - access denied."  The file exists may not be not on-site, can be opened in another program, or there might be a problem of local authorization. »

I'm working on a project were I am importing to Dreamweaver html code. I just do all of my changes in Dreamweaver and then re-import the file.

You can make changes in the file inside Muse. Just right click on your imported html file and select "edit HTML" in the menu list.

It will bring to the top of the dialog box where you can change the text/code

  • Unable to connect to the BC site via dreamweaver CC 2014

All of a sudden I can't connect to one of my BC sites in Dreamweaver CC 2014

On the web, I can properly connect to the back end of the BC site with my credentials to mysite.businesscatalyst.com

    I tried the following:

1 disabled the firewall and tried to connect through DW. Did not help.

2 boot safe mode with networking. Did not help.

    3. in the Manager Site Dreamweaver, Site for mysite configuration, password box is empty. I can manually enter and click on 'test' and it connects fine.

    4. when I leave the site manager and try to connect from the files tab and icon of the little plug, it does not work.

    5. we forget the password and sometimes white in a re-opening of the Site Manager.

    Hi guys,.

I just tested this question (of the BC point of view) and I think I understood what may be your problem - you have multiple sites defined in DW and some of them (those having the connection problem) do not belong to the Adobe Id of current user who is logged in DW.

The new CC authentication system is synchronized between your installed applications of CC. For any operation that requires authentication, current CC authenticated account credentials are used - it is also why doe of information of the site DW SFTP connection not stores the password more.

Workaround for this problem is to be registered for the DW with an Id Adobe user that is also stored in the settings of credentials SFTP site DW (BC) that you want to use.

There are two approaches to this:

    1. change the current CC account that is signed in DW:

-disconnection of DW (using the menu)

-Connect with the Adobe Id which is the (partner) creator of the site

    -restart DW (this is important!)

    2. Add the Adobe Id account as an Admin user to the BC location:

-Add the Adobe Id account that you use in DW and other CC apps as the administrator user on the site of BC (go to settings of the Site from the site Admin-> Admin users)

-in DW, change the SFTP site connection settings (of the files Panel, double-click the drop-down menu display the site name and select servers, change the server list and simply replace the value of @adobe.com [myadobeId]of the user name field with the email in the current account of CC, which is signed in DW; you'll have something like) (: [myBCsite].worldsecuresystems.com/[myNewadobeId]@adobe.com/dw)

    -Save settings (skip the password)

    I hope this helps.

  • How to import the Muse in Dreamweaver

I'm trying to import my site muse in Dreamweaver, because I want to design my site in muse and then use PHP and MySQL to make blogs and membership etc systems. When I open dreamweaver and right-click on the site of Muse and tap 'Open with - Dreamweaver', it begins to open (it only opens the Muse website and shows just an empty HTML)... then Dreamweaver stops responding and I have to close it. If there is a way to make a membership system and blog muse (that only certain people can change [not not using Muse]) then please reply an answer... or if possible can people please answer on how to open a muse site in dreamweaver.

    Thanks in advance

    Richard

MU is a code generator while DW is an HTML editor.

I don't think you can import MU files directly in DW.  I think that the best you can do is open the HTML of the pages in DW the same way you would with any site.

The first step of DW, is to set your local & remote site folders by going to the Site. Manage Sites > new Site...  Say DW where on your hard disk to find the files on your local site.

Is it possible to export the Muse site in Dreamweaver or in another format like wordpress, now all hyperlinks and blogs, where 10 years later there is no Muse, but another web Adobe made software?

    Hi Claire,

First of all, you can be assured that now Adobe has no intention to quit muse and it's here to stay

Now then, you can export your site created in Muse in his code HTML, CSS and JS form by using the file option-> export to HTML

Please refer to this screenshot:- http://prntscr.com/4ueqvq

Now this version exported your muse site can be opened in any code editing software like Dreamweaver etc and you can make changes to your site.

    Hope this helps

  • Created a site in dreamweaver, want to now set up the MySql database and username / password to access

I created a site in dreamweaver, now you want to set up the MySql database and username / password to access a part of it. Dreamweaver's tools?

I guess I need to learn PHP?

    Guidance gratefully received!

    Bob

If you simply need to restrict access to your site, or a part of your site, there is an easier way to do it, using Apache htpasswd, but this solution is very limited and not suitable for use with clients, there is no interesting features people expect, as the ability to reset a lost password.

Otherwise, Yes, you will need to learn some PHP and SQL.

You will start by setting up your development computer with an Apache web server, which comes with PHP and possibly also MySQL. There are free versions, such as XAMPP, but I prefer Zend Server, which costs $195.

Dreamweaver includes data 'tools' to the CS 5.5 version and there are third-party plugins available that will handle the data functions, but to really make things right you need to learn how to write your own code and don't mess with the tools who write code for you that you can not understand and are difficult to change.

I think that David Powers PHP Solutions book is a good introduction and also includes a tutorial on building a password access system that is fine.

  • Creating an Ecommerce site in dreamweaver

    Hello

I want to create a webshop (such as a subdomain of my main website) and after the creation of several sites with Dreamweaver, I go with that. The only problem I have is to find what I need...

I downloaded opencart but if I try to open the index.php I just mistakes (maybe I'm not creating things correctly). I'm pretty good in themselves teaching and using online guides, so if someone could help me with the basics I can take it from there.

I'm mainly after the chips do I need or a map how all this fits into the picture.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I can't seem to get my head it round at the moment and continuous conflicting info on the net is not helping...

PS I use v6 but BusinessCatalyst does not work so it's on :-(

Thanks in advance for any help!

To properly use the script within DW, such as php server, you will need to have a local test installed MAMP or XAMPP server. Once you install the testing server, you will need to add it to your site settings, and then turn on the server so that DW to show what is happening with your php files.

  • Can I import a site with DW CC BC

    Hello

Can I import a site with DW CC BC

    Carla

    Hi Carla,.

You can use the extension already found in DW CC to connect to your site of BC.

Within DW go to... Site-> new business catalyst site

    - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSqjdhTpmgc (video tutorial)

This then allows you to edit and apply changes to DW with the same power as you would normal in British Colombia admin panel.

    I hope this helps!
